"Intro" on Akuma No Uta is one of the best, most unique songs ever.

It doesn't even feel like it's been two years since Death Is This Communion was released.
Such a solid album.
It melts my face!

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD
I just found out Trap Them is playing here on Saturday! With Skeletonwitch and Toxic Holocaust (Black Dahlia Murder headlining)
FUCK YES I WANT TO SEE TRAP THEM SO BAD
I'm terrified the tickets will sell out before I can get them tomorrow! The venue isn't big at all.

I've seen all of those bands, but seperately.
Sounds like a rad show.

I'm so goddamn pumped about Trap Them. I actually jumped a little bit when I saw the poster because I thought I was seeing things.
I hope their set isn't short. Fuck BDM. I bet there will be a fair supply of douches there.

The new Nile is fucking great so far. Liking this more than Ithyphallic, but I thought that record was kind of boring towards the end. It isn't terribly repetitive like I feared it would be, either. Then again, I haven't reached the 8 minute songs yet, so we'll see how this goes....
Can anyone recommend me some stoner and sludge metal albums that were released this year?

I bet there will be a fair supply of douches there. Expect a 20 minute set. They don't play very long. But I'll be damned if they don't make the most out of it.

Can anyone recommend me some stoner and sludge metal albums that were released this year? just a few, I probably missed the best ones, but these ones I've dug: S:T Erik - From Under The Tarn---From Sweden. $8 (!) here. The dude's vocals are amazing. He's seriously talented, which is something you don't often hear in this genre. You usually end up with some gravelly bear. Check it out just to hear it once at the very least. Zoroaster - Voice Of Saturn---more psychedelic and acid-tinged than their previous work. And yet! It's more focused. Not sure if I like it more than Dog Magic. I got about a billion of these in the mail because there was something wrong with most of the first pressing of the CD or something. I got a bunch of free shit along with it. They rule. Purple Mercy - s/t ---with a hardcore edge. From members of the departed Life Long Tragedy, on 12 Gauge. Church Of Misery - Houses Of The Unholy---not better than Master Of Reality but nothing is. Kylesa - Static Tensions---does this count? you've probably heard it anyway. It and Baroness and Mastodon probably complete the unholy trinity of metal albums 2009. I haven't heard those other two yet. Big Business - Mind The Drift---I don't have anything interesting to say about this. It's gotten enough spins from me but I still think it's weird. Apparently a lot of that is more "doom" but if that's so I honestly don't know the difference between these genres.

Thanks. I keep forgetting I have that Kylesa album. I just got the new Baroness in the mail yesterday. Still need to upload it. I've wanted to check out Big Business for awhile.

Ok.
Trap Them was awesome. The crowd was a stupid bunch of thrash-heads and metalcore douches and they had no idea who Trap Them was, so they saw no scene point potential in watching their show. Thus, there was pretty much one person besides me who was into their set. Dumbasses. Ryan McKenney seemed pretty pissed off about the crowd.
Toxic Holocaust was decent. Whatever. I still don't see the big deal about them. Also, I didn't know Bret Michaels was in that band.
Skeletonwitch fucking KILLED IT. They were incredible! I'm definitely a believer in those guys now.
Left before BDM.

Forgot to update on the Akercocke show.
We missed at least half of it due to John being delayed at the airport. But what we saw was fucking amazing. I bought a t-shirt that says, Fuck, Blast, Kill.
LOL.

I've just now been getting into Nasum. This rivals Pig Destroyer as the best grind ever made.
Rest in peace, dude from this band who died in the tsunami. I hardly knew ye.

I feel like I should like Nasum more then I do, but I just can't get into them that much. Human 2.0 is just alright to me. As far as bands that rival Pig Destroyer, the only one that comes close for me (not counting the classics like Napalm and Repulsion) is Discordance Axis. Cephalic Carnage and Cattle Decap are pretty high up there, as well.

There was some Nasum album that I liked a ton but I can't remember what it was called.
There's really nothing grindwise that competes with Pig Destroyer for me.
After buying the LP at the show, I've grown to like Seizures in Barren Praise a lot more than I used to. I always listened to the MP3 of it, but the vinyl makes it sound tons better. Surprise.
