It's been mostly Darkest Hour for me these past couple of days. The Eternal Return has grown on me tons.
I was going to preorder Baroness' new album from Relapse but they're already out of stock.

I've been listening to a lot of pre-Undoing Ruin stuff this week. Those are some heavy, fun records.

I finally got my hands on So Sedated, So Secure and I liked it a lot more than The Mark of Judas. I dig For The Soul and Savior of that record, but I don't listen to it much besides that. Hidden Hands is a fucking killer record, though.

I put Hidden Hands and Eternal Return on the same level. Straight-ahead, riffy melo-death metal with a lot of thrash influence. But neither of them can touch Deliver Us or Undoing Ruin. Two of the best records ever.

It's always Iron Maiden for me.
But I've been listening to a TON of Mastodon lately. That band is sooooo good.

Word. I've listened to Undoing Ruin too much over the past few days, haha. My roommate has almost gotten tired of me blasting "Sound The Surrender" all the time, haha.
There's some really good releases coming out soon. New 3IOB, new Skeletonwitch, new Burnt By The Sun and a few others. I'm also thinking of getting Eagle Twin's new record since I really like what I heard on their myspace.

For the Opeth haters-
I love Opeth and no I'm not an art student. Suck it.

This could go in either the metal thread or the hardcore thread, but since the hardcore thread generally centers around stuff like Have Heart and most people who would be into this post in both threads, I'm putting it here. Black-tinged, blasted-out d-beat/käng from : Martyrdöd. Listening to their latest album Sekt makes me feel like I'm going deaf. Right now it's only out on CD in Europe. The LP is in the works, I don't know about American distribution for that either. I hope that happens soon because I'm already drooling. Their whole discography is on the illegal download blag lucidmedia (click).

I finally checked out Intronaut today and I dig them quite a bit. Not a big fan of the vocals they'll probably grow on me like most bands like that do. Baroness sure did.

My parents just called me close-minded because I said Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Staind all suck.

I was listening to Intronaut today. I don't know how I feel about them. They're awesome, but they're not a band I could fall in love with like Mastodong or Baroness.
I've also been bumping a ton of ManOwaR. The album set as my avatar is INCREDIBLE.
Sweet, Youtube tags work here.

I've been listening to American Nervoso by Botch and Calculating Infinity a lot lately. Also Kyuss and Electric Wizard.

Been listening to Bergtatt by Ulver and it rules. Can someone rec some black metal that is like this? Kind of sad and sounds sort of folky. Like this and Wolves in the Throne Room.

1. Between the Buried and Me 2. Opeth 3. Darkest Hour 4. Arch Enemy 5. Amon Amarth 6. In Flames
That's pretty much all the metal I listen to these days.

Not enough metal lately. :/
I can't even really think of anything I've listened to in a while.

Sorry folks, I just don't listen to metal hardly ever anymore, so I guess I won't be participating in this thread much.

Actually, nevermind. I listen to a lot more metal than that, but those were the only bands coming to mind.

New songs by BaronessI'm really liking them. I still don't have The Red Album, but I may pick up this new one along with Axe to Fall when they come out.

New songs by BaronessI'm really liking them. I still don't have The Red Album, but I may pick up this new one along with Axe to Fall when they come out. I can't wait for Blue Record to come out. Red Album is fantastic, I would definitely recommend getting it. It took awhile for it to click with me and I kind of disliked them for awhile considering all of the hype they were receiving at the time, but they're one of my favorite metal bands now, haha. I have high hopes for the new record after hearing the two new songs. I finally started listening to Akercocke. I regret putting it off for so long. They are fucking great. It took awhile for them to click with me, but now I love them. Still only have the two most recent albums, though. I checked out Words That Go Unspoken. Deeds That Go Undone and they clicked with me almost instantly. Mad that I didn't get to listen to the whole album since I had class but I loved what I heard.

Dudes. The new Ahab album. Do it.
So far it's like the first album mixed with vox from Cephalic Carnage and Akercocke. The riffs are gnarly as shit.
Easily the best metal album I've heard this year (outside of Propagandhi, if we're calling them that).

Oh man, I'm listening to Ithyphallic for the first time in forever. This album is so good.
Nile is pretty goddamn hardcore. Like, I know it's death metal, but their stuff is consistently pretty grind/punk sounding.
I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEW ONE KARL SANDERS RULES
