I'm listening to Cannabis Corpse. Tube of the Resinated is one of the few metal albums that I still listen to.

I just got asked by someone to do vocals for a metal band. When I asked what kind, he said "think August Burns Red, Alesana, Saosin, and A Day To Remember".
I lol'ed.

All signs point to a big "DO NOT WANT" right there.

Then you could show up to first show, slaughter a goat on stage, rip you clothes off and bathe in its blood, and throw your own feces at the audience for good measure. End it by screaming "Death to false metal!" while crucifying the drummer -- after replacing his head with the goat's, of course.

Haha, now that's literally brutal death metal.

Or, if you're lazy, say you'll join and then never show up.

This band played here last Friday with John Pettibone's new band. Would have went if it wasn't 21+.

Anyone like ColdWorld? I got Melancholie^2, it's pretty damn good, just the kind of black metal that I like.

Eh, Mastodon did and they're still fine. I doubt it'll change them too much. Who'd they sign with?

E1 Music (aka Koch Records). It's apparently "the largest independent record label in the United States."
I gave the new Pelican a listen last week. It's pretty solid.

Eh, Mastodon did and they're still fine. I doubt it'll change them too much. Who'd they sign with? Guess what: I'm retarded. I thought Koch was a major and it isn't. Fuck me. Anyway, my only fear with HOF + a major is them trying to turn them into a prog band with like, grunge vocals or something.

That was completely unintentional, in all seriousness, but yes.
Although I fucking loved Blood Mountain a ton. I only heard one track from Crack the Skye and I thought it was embarrassing.

I enjoy Crack The Skye, but Leviathan remains my favourite Mastodon album.

I don't even remember what Blood Mountain sounds like, but I dug Leviathan. SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER! + that part @ 1:20 in "Megalodon" !!! I have not heard a note of Crack The Skye.

For me, Mastodon has gotten progressively worse with each record. Remission is killer, Leviathan is pretty good, Blood Mountain is alright, and Crack The Skye is listenable at best.

You may be the only person I know who prefers Remission over Leviathan.

I definitely prefer Remission. And I prefer their EP before that over everything.
Out of everything by them I've heard (everything up to CTS), Leviathan is my least favorite. I really didn't like much about that album other than one crazy awesome track (Aqua Dementia?).

I have yet to hear the EP, but I have a feeling it will become my favorite material from them once I finally do.
The riffs on Leviathan are SOOO good. "Blood and Thunder" especially.

Their first EP is legitimately some of the most evil sounding stuff you'll ever hear.

Here's my review of the new Baroness. www.scenepointblank.com/reviews/2714I'm also reviewing Black Cobra's new album but I need to knock out a couple of school assignments before I get that done. The new Slayer is pretty decent, too. I'll have to give it a few more listens to see if it has any lasting value but what I remember from it was good. Didn't go in one ear and out the other like Christ Illusion did.
