The lockout is no more which means we can finally start talking about football again!
Next few days are going to be pretty crazy and there's already been a lot of moves today. Let's discuss.

AWWWWWW YEAH. Let the insanity begin! The Cowboys were second only to the Raiders in being in cap trouble, but we just jettisoned Marion Barber, Roy Williams, Marc Columbo, and a few others. Not sure if that means we're going to make a run on Asomugha or if we're just creating some breathing room. I'd like to use some of that money to lock up Gerald Sensabaugh, I like him.
As usual, my mood is "guarded optimism." New head coach, new DC, a younger offensive line, and healthy stars. Defense is still the biggest question mark, but if we can make all the pieces come together, look out.

Seahawks have signed Tavaris Jackson and are apparently looking to shop Hasselbeck, haha. That's a pretty big downgrade even if Hasselbeck can never stay healthy for an entire season and is near the end of the line.
Ravens did some cap salary clearing yesterday too sending out Heap, Mason, McGahee and Kelly Gregg. They are apparently going to bring back Heap and possibly Mason for cheaper contracts, though. Makes some room for Asomugha if they go after him.

Oh good, I was wondering why they seemingly wanted to get rid of Heap.
Peyton Manning's situation could get interesting. The owner says he's a got a firm number that he won't go over, and Manning wants more than that.

Yeah, Heap's due about $5 mil for next season and his production over the last few years just wasn't worth that. They have Ed Dickson on the roster but I still don't think they want to get rid of Heap for nothing.
Heard some good news on the Panthers forefront with DeAngelo Williams saying that he wants to stay in Carolina. Now I hope we can help reconstruct this o-line so our running game isn't ruined like last season. I am going to be pissed if we lose Charles Johnson, though. He was one of the few bright spots of last season and our defensive line really needs him to stick around.

I am eating my words now. Johnson re-signed with us...for $76 mil with $36 mil being guaranteed along with a $30 mil SIGNING BONUS. He had one season with 12 sacks and all of the sudden he gets a $60+ mil from us. That is a fucking joke.

The season tickets hit yesterday, which is always an exciting day. They were still for the Texans, which is always kind of a downer. I am eating my words now. Johnson re-signed with us...for $76 mil with $36 mil being guaranteed along with a $30 mil SIGNING BONUS. He had one season with 12 sacks and all of the sudden he gets a $60+ mil from us. That is a fucking joke. Isn't there some awesome statistic out there that says almost every guy who is his age, has had the one 12 sack season ends up with 7 or fewer the next season, then five or less the rest of his career? Pretty awesome, bro.

I specialize in hockey stats, not football.
Jaguars signed Paul Pozlonzsky from the Bills. Which means Buffalo's linebacking corps is almost licked clean.

Poz is a pretty big loss for the Bills. i like the moves the 'Boys have been making so far. Good riddance, Roy Williams.
but as for this season:

The Eagles are heavily shopping Kevin Kolb to the Cardinals and Arizona offered a 2nd round pick and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and the Eagles turn that down because they want a first rounder. Uhhh...are the Eagles serious here? What the Cards were offering is massive overpayment as it is.

wtf yeah, Kolb is definitely barely even worth a second-rounder. dude has a 60% completion rating through 19 games, with 11 TDs and 14 INTs. they should barely even get a third rounder for him. but oh well, i'd rather see the Eagles be stupid and get stuck with him.

Doug Free re-signed with Dallas. I'm curious what the Bucs are going to do since he was one of their main targets. They had the lowest payroll in the league last season and managed to do pretty well despite that but now they have to double their payroll to get to the new cap floor even though there aren't many holes to fill on their roster. Their GM also said that they aren't planning on signing Nnamdi so that idea went out the window.

I have no idea what the hell is going on.
Vikings don't sign Jackson, but are trying to trade for McNabb. Seahawks don't want Hasslebeck so they sign Jackson. Hasslebeck to the Titans. 49ers re-sign Smith. Teams looking into Leinart.
Haha. Fuuuuuuuuuck.

I guess we signed a UFA to compete against (replace) Buehler as our kicker. I was kind of hoping we'd wait and see if the Eagles are cutting Akers.

Redskins have actually made some decent signings. Didn't break the bank to re-sign Moss, got Gaffney to play on the other side, they have Cofield to replace Haynesworth, Stephen Bowen on the end and Josh Wilson wasn't a bad signing either. Then I remember that their QBs are John Beck, Rex Grossman and Kellen Clemens.

Where are all the decent QBs?

Locked down by their respective teams. The way I see it, there's 4 levels of QB right now: 1. The Elites- Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, Roethlisberger (I'll debate that last one, but whatever) 2. The really good, but not (yet) great- Manning the Lesser, Romo, Cutler, Flacco, Ryan, Vick 3. The young guys- Stafford, Bradford, Sanchez, Tebow, Freeman 4. Everyone else
The elite guys aren't going anywhere for obvious reasons. The second tier of guys aren't because they're still developing, and the young guys aren't because they're having a franchise built around them (or will be soon). That leaves Everyone Else, and it's slim pickings in that group. It's either the past their prime dudes like McNabb and Hasselback, or "who the fuck is that?"

Colt McCoy could go in category #3 too.
The NFC West's QB talent is pretty sad right now.
Alex Smith, Colin Kaerpatrick, Matt Lienart, Tavaris Jackson, Charlie Whitehurst, Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Sam Bradford
Bradford's the best of them, haha.

Nnamdi to the Eagels for 4 years and $25 mil is guaranteed. Well, fuck.
At least it's not the Bucs.

Ahem. Anyways, the Bucs couldn't do it because they gave Atlanta's punter a $19 million contract. HAHAHA.

That makes me feel better about us giving Olindo Mare $12 mil or whatever the hell it was. Aren't the Bucs still way under the cap floor anyway?

Man, this off-season debacle took me out of things. I missed that they closed a deal and now everyone's flinging players around like poo at the monkey exhibit. I need start watching Sports Center again.

Man, I can't believe we left the lockout without the preseason issue being resolved!
I can't even give away Texans - Jets tickets for Monday. And I paid like $250 for them. $500 for two preseason games absolutely no one wants to go see. NFL, why are you such a blood sucking business? And you wonder why season ticket purchases are down.
Also, it's hilarious to see $4 NFL tickets on Stub Hub.

After watching ESPN this morning, the Eagles/Vick are going to be this year's Brett Favre in terms of infuriating media oversaturation.

I hate the new kickoff rules. Every kick will likely be a touchback but I think they're trying to increase player safety.
Also, the Ravens offense looked pathetic last night. I can see why they decided to trade for Lee Evans and all they gave up was a 4th round pick. He's a nice compliment to Boldin and he can possibly stretch the field so Flacco has a deep target. Plus, the rest of their WR corps is really young. They might also want to look for a back-up QB with how abysmal Tyrod Taylor and Hunter Cantplaywell did last night. Bet they're regretting letting Troy Smith go last year.

Isn't Troy Smith still available? Can't be regretting it too much.

He's better than any back-up they have on the roster now. I would have at least kept Bulger around for another year instead of having two inexperienced back-ups. I don't know if Bulger is even in the league now, though.
The whole QB controversy in Washington is pretty funny but sad in a way. Beck's getting his shot tonight anyway and I'll probably be laughing no matter how good or bad he does.

What do y'all think of Vick as a fantasy pick? Too risky to take first round? Too similar in potential to other QBs to worry about nabbing early? Every day my opinion on the dude changes.
