Schefter says no: "Filed to ESPN from @mortreport: Peyton Manning is being revaluated by several doctors bc of slow progress. No other procedure planned now."

At least Curtis Painter isn't their back-up option.

Yeah, but Old Man Collins isn't exactly the answer, either.
I'm excited for the new season, even though I'm pretty sure the Texans are going to mess it up somehow.
The only thing I'm not excited for is the 9/11 tribute that is sure to be ridiculous. I can't think of a single reason a massive national tragedy should be mixed with NFL games. I wish the Texans would tell us when this was going to happen (pre-game please!) so I can make plans to show up late and miss it.

Jags cut Garrard and Luke McCown will start the season opener.
LOL.

Good riddance. If player accounts are any indication, he wasn't much of a teammate. Maybe McCown can channel some of that 2007 play while reducing his turnovers? He's probably just starting until he loses the job to Blaine Gabbert anyway.

I'm sure this was clear in my Fred Taylor post, but I really hate the Jags and hope everything falls apart for them this year. Jack Del Rio is such a dirt bag, and that team plays so dirty. Awful.

I've always liked the Jags because of the Carolina expansion connection, that and I seem to be attracted to mediocre teams for whatever reason.
Don't understand releasing Garrard at all when Seattle or San Francisco would at least give them a mid-round pick for him or something. That and he seemed to be a good QB who could keep the seat warm until Gabbert is ready. The AFC South could be the Texans to lose if Manning is out for a significant amount of time.

Titans are now favored to win the division. Should be crazy stuff this year.

Titans over the Texans? I don't think so.

Do football teams traditionally have defenses, or is this game gonna end 49 - 42?
To be fair, GB looks like they're playing defense, whereas NO doesn't look like they remember how.

Sproles seems to be replacing Reggie Bush with no problem at all.

That run back was fierce. Despite the lackluster defensive play, this has been a fun game to watch.

Yeah, I prefer shootouts over defensive struggles.

Brutal TD run by Starks. NO checked right out of the box on that one, lol.

I'm looking at the schedule strengths and... man, Carolina has a rough ride ahead. Here's hoping you find something good to build off.

I didn't realize that Peyton Manning was 35 already.

So I just remembered that we have to play GB next week. Might as well get the beating out of the way early.

What an almost-comeback! Total bullshit call in the end-zone to flag for interference, but that ref was out of position and things were hectic, so... whatever, it didn't change the outcome. Fun opener to the season!

Bad call by the Saints to try to run it in from there. They couldn't run the ball up the middle all night (really who can against BJ Raji?) and they should have just trusted Brees with that play or gone to the outside. Great game, either way.

So, Manning looks to warm the bench for a good chunk of the year, if not all of it. Might put a damper on everyone's fantasy teams. I know I'm weary about Dallas Clark being my TE.
Hope he recovers well. He's such a fun QB to watch.

I'm not sure how the Colts will do this year. Some say that they are completely screwed because Manning made that offense but it's not like he has a bunch of CFL guys around him. Although, the only top-level talents they have are Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne so they will definitely be a lot weaker. I'm not sure what kind of shape their defense is in.

I take back what I said about the Colts earlier. Holy christ.
Steelers are getting straight out embarrassed. I went to pick up a pizza and the restaurant was PACKED with Ravens fans. I thought I was going to go deaf when Sam Koch scored that 2 point conversion, haha. When Ray Lewis made that interception two guys went up to me and yelled "THAT'S MY DAWG RAY!" and high fived me. I tell them I'm not a Ravens fans and this was their response: "YOU'RE NOT A FUCKING STEELERS FAN SO YOU'RE AWESOME!"
I missed football season.

Tons of interesting games this opening Sunday. Detroit's defense looks legit; it's only Tampa their defeating, but they're really locking that offense up.
How about Cadillac Williams showing up to make up for Steven Jackson in St. Louis? Guy's still got legs, man.
And ya... Indy. Manning really, really, REALLY is that franchise. Or maybe as a team they shouldn't install some outsider to suddenly take snaps opening weak.

Gonna be a long season in Indy.
Can't wait for the Cowboys game, even though I don't like our chances. The Jets' D is by far the best we're going to face this year, so I'm anxious to see how we do against them.
