During an interview just published on Hero Complex, Chris Nolan has revealed the title of Batman 3: it will be called “The Dark Knight Rises and it WON’T be shot in 3D (they’ll shoot in IMAX format instead). In the same interview, Nolan announced something that Batman movie fans have been debating and speculating about, ever since the end credits rolled on The Dark Knight: Nolan has stated that The Riddler will NOT be the villain featured in The Dark Knight Rises.Source

Not crazy for the title because I have a feeling WB told Nolan it needed 'Dark Knight" in the title so that casual movie-goers would know it's a sequel. Stoked on it not being in 3D! Half bummed that Riddler won't be the villian.

The title is a bit of a let down, but now that we know The Riddler isn't I'm wondering who's going to be the villain.

I'd love Bane personally. Bane is great, he's as smart as Batman and a hulking beast.

Tom Hardy is cast in the movie, and there are rumors that he's either playing Killer Croc or Bane. I'd much rather see Hush or Mr. Zsasz. IMDB has him rumored to be Detective Harvey Bullock. I'd like to see him as Bane, though, if only to make up for the abominable way he was portrayed in Batman and Robin. Also, pleeeeease no Penguin. I think Nolan could find a way to make it work well, but I'd rather see a different villain. And about the title, I'm with Katie, I really don't have too much of a problem with it. It kinda sets the tone from the end of last movie with Batman becoming the target. I wish this was coming out this year or early next. Too impatient.

The title doesn't really bother me, probably because I don't care. It could be "Christopher Nolan's Third Batman Film Extravaganza" and I'd be too excited to pay attention.
I know it won't happen, but god damn I want to see justice done for Bane in a film. I'm amazed that they were able to take such a great character that was such an amazing part of an amazing story arch and completely fuck it up. Like, I know that most of the Batman films from that point in time were pretty fucked, but I still can't believe they managed to blow that badly.
That being said, I was kinda wishing for JGL as the Riddler, because I think he could ridiculously own that role. Hell, the guy could own any role. I wants more JGL in mah Batmens.
All of that aside, I hope I can watch this one without subtitles for Christian Bale.

I know they won't recast the Joker, and I don't think they should, but if they did, JGL could pull it off.

I don't understand the want for the Riddler in the movie. That character just doesn't seem to fit in Nolan's Batman universe. I was talking to JD earlier today, and it just seems like the only way to do it would to make it like Batman Forever. And as much as I have a love for that movie, it's shit. You can't have two psychotic funnymen villains in the same movie universe. Especially when the films are so close together. It's just basically going to be Joker Light. You can only have one, and the Joker will be picked every time.

Yay, Batman! Yay, no 3D! I don't really care about the title. But I like that Batman Extravaganza one suggested earlier. I wish they'd run with that.

Think Nolan would be bold enough to just invent a new villain? Or does that step too harshly on the toes of Batman lore? I never got into DC comics, so everything I know from this universe comes from the movies and cartoons.

I never got into DC comics, so everything I know from this universe comes from the movies and cartoons. I really don't think he would do this if DC would even be willing to hear something out. There are so many characters they can bring in rather than inventing a new one. I've actually been downloading some Batman comics/graphic novels lately. I would really dig seeing a lesser known villain like Black Mask in this movie, if my initial wish of Bane doesn't come true, haha.

Do you think we're gonna get Catwoman?? I would guess not. She's already going to be a main character in the Arkham Asylum 2 game. Mark Millar said he knows Killer Croc will be in it. He is full of shit 99.99999% of the time, so take that as you will. However, there's a fairly reliable rumor (it may have even been confirmed, I don't remember) that they are filming in Louisiana, so maybe swamp/bayou = Croc? Who knows.

I hope Nolan doesn't go more fantasy/sci-fi if he has Croc. He's stuck pretty well to this Batman series being more realistic and believable and I hope it stays that way.
