Yeah, I don't think I got all that shit that you guys are complaining about. I thought it was awesome. Tom Hardy must be such an excellent actor, his eyes looked fucking terrifying for the whole film except at the end when Marion was fixing his face morphine. Although I do have to wonder at the logic of using inhaled morphine when it seemed that he went into agony after literally one second of the mask being broken. He needs a syringe driver or something, that shit just isn't practicable. The fights between him and Batman all seemed a bit weirdly shot or something, like they seemed too evenly matched for them to have an interesting fight, and most of it was just one Bane punching Batman who then fell over. At the end when he pulled the mask off though he went fucking crazy and there was a wide shot of him punching a load of shit and it looked awesome. God I love Tom Hardy.
I too had my reservations about Anne Hathaway when I saw that first stupid picture of her and at the beginning of the film when she was the maid I thought blah blah, typical Hathaway. But when Wayne caught her and in a split second she dropped the stupid maid act? Fuuuck. I am totally sold on her, I thought she was brilliant. I hope they do make that catwoman film that's rumoured, it would be awesome. Even if her heels were too high for her job.
My favourite bit of the whole film was when Blake is fighting some dudes and Batman turns up and starts fighting too and Blake just stops and stares with adulation on his face. He is adorable.
I meant to rewatch the other two films before I saw it so I'd understand what was going on but I forgot so a shit ton of it didn't make sense. What the fuck is the league of shadows? Also, didn't Cillian Murphy die in the first one? What the fuck was he doing there? And what fucking idiot decided to put literally every police officer in the city in the sewers at the same time? ALSO, Gotham seems to have a very extensive network of sewers and underground tunnels. Most of the day to day business of the city apparently goes on down there. So why the fuck didn't Fox scope out what was underneath the building before he put Applied Batman Sciences down there? That's just foolish. AND ALSO, in the prison did Wayne recover from a fracture vertebra by a guy punching him in the fracture and then hanging him off a rope for three months? And how does anyone get food in the prison, is it its own self-sufficient community? How come Marion Cotillard or Bane or Raz Al Ghul swing that rope down there when they all left? And how come there was barely any Batman in the entire fucking film? It was mostly about Blake being a badass and Alfred crying. Hmm, maybe I did pick up on some annoying stuff after all.

ALSO: is there any fucking superhero in the universe that wasn't an orphan?

Yeah, I think we all agree the acting was amazing (particularly that scene you mentioned with Hathaway) but the writing and plotting was ridiculous.

She did good. But I don't think I've ever actually disliked her in anything. Except Rio, but she can't really be blamed for that.

ALSO: is there any fucking superhero in the universe that wasn't an orphan? missed this last time. Really good book to read on this subject: Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Some of the history (err, rather a lot of it) is fabricated, but you get the idea; broken people came up with superheroes to escape the reality of a Nazi-invading world.

It felt so fake.

Liked it least of the three, but it was still rad. Bane is scary as shit. I'm a bit of tired of the whole "bad guy captures good guy, feels his punishment should be severe or slow or whatever, good guy escapes" trope, but I felt it worked well enough here. I have my issues with the entire climax and ending, but nothing too severe. I thought it was interesting and bold of Nolan to kill Batman off... until he didn't. That bait and switch disturbed me for a bit, but it was just because I thought the idea was really cool, that the man could die but the symbol could live on, especially if Robin found his way into the role. Great acting all around, but I've never been the biggest fan of Christian Bale's portrayal. It was always a bit too Patrick Bateman for me. Better than George Clooney at least.

Bane breaking Batman's back was perfectly shot. just how I hoped it would look from reading Knightfall. also, I completely enjoyed this movie from start to finish. Tom Hardy was as good of a Bane as I had hoped and Anne Hathaway ruled as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. i am never going to doubt Christopher Nolan on casting. some of the quibbles with the plot definitely made me think a little, but it's not even near enough to ruin my enjoyment of the movie (this kinda touches on a few www.uproxx.com/gammasquad/2012/07/your-sarcastic-guide-to-alleged-plot-holes-in-the-dark-knight-rises/) it's a comic book movie injected with some realism, but it's still a comic book movie about a dude who dresses up in a giant bat-themed S&M costume to beat up criminals. come on now. my only big complaint is the same as Emma's, which is not enough Batman. also, about the whole Robin thing. while it was kind of a groaner, it would have been WAY too obvious to actually name him Dick Grayson.

also, about the whole Robin thing. while it was kind of a groaner, it would have been WAY too obvious to actually name him Dick Grayson. More obvious than literally naming him Robin?! They could have given him a nickname or something to be referred to throughout the movie instead of being called Grayson. And then at the end he could have just actually said his name out loud instead of being all 'here let me hand you a card with my legal name on it instead of just telling it to you like a normal person'. He had just said his name to her, there was no reason to hand her a card other than to build up for suspense for half a second. It's such a little thing but it bothered me hahah. I took my brother to see it (his first time, my second) and he told me his first impression of Blake was 'holy shit that's Robin' hahahah. Still really really in love with the movie and kinda obsessed with Tom Hardy a little bit.

Yeah, I didn't see why Blake being 'Robin' was supposed to be a twist/shock or whatever. But props to the boy for being the only person in the whole city to notice that batman and Wayne disappeared at exactly the same time.

i should have said way too obvious to comics fans, as if they were using his name throughout the movie.. i guess i didn't think of them using a nickname, but the whole thing really is minor in my eyes.
