God, we just got home from visiting my parents, and the digital cable only shows scheduled programming, right, so we're watching the baseball game when I see the ESPN ticker show CANUCKS 3 BLACKHAWKS 3 OT and then the latter switch to 4. Dammit! I didn't want to watch what was scheduled (NBA D-league, wtf) but I didn't know there was hockey on. PFFFFFFT.

I can not believe the meltdown Vancouver is having right now. I knew Chicago would give them a tough series but I did not see this coming at all. Vigneault must have some real stones to start Schneider over Luongo but then Schneider got hurt and Luongo came in and didn't look settled at all. I had Van winning in 7 but that team's confidence looks completely shot right now.

Didn't even get to watch it 'cause someone screwed with the tivo. Oh well... magical season that held a ton of promise. Makes me wonder what could have been with Hiller in the net. Next year becomes a tough one... Selanne had a successful but rough year, and I think he's the strongest hold Koivu has to staying in Anaheim. I wouldn't be surprised if our entire second line is gone next year. So much for the Caps/Ducks finals.

Gonna have to wait a little longer to see who we play next round. Surprised the Bolts are making this kind of comeback, though.
Game 7 of Nucks/Hawks should be awesome. I'm going to laugh if Vancouver chokes even though I hate the Hawks. You'd think I'd be more sensitive after the same thing happened to the Caps last year but I'm not.

I don't know. The Canucks aren't exactly the team I was planning to mock since the Hawks match up with them well and aren't your typical 8 seed. Us bloggers tried to warn Vancouver fans of that but no one listens to us computer nerds.

Blackhawks die easily without Crawford's beautiful play. Vancouver really drove hard that game and almost had the whole thing stolen. Chicago did play hard, though, and what a goal to tie it in regulation. If they would have won the series, they'd have my vote for a repeat.
That said, good to see the Canucks moving on up.

Amazing game last night. Burrows really came through for the Canucks but Crawford definitely impressed me the most. Not much he could do about the game-winner since Campoli sold him out big time. That's what the Hawks get for trading for a Senator. I loved seeing how stoked GM Place was after they won. Beating Chicago's a pretty big milestone for them even if it was only the first round.
No real preferences on who wins tonight. Just hope Washington can kick some ass next round.

Game with awful goaltending from Boucher/Bobrovsky followed by a clinic by Rinne and Luongo tonight. Great response by the Preds but they would have won that game a lot more cleanly if they had some more talent up front. Definitely shows how good Rinne and their defense is by holding Vancouver to only two goals in the first two games, though.

I've been watching hockey almost non-stop these playoffs. So many awesome games. Great to see Nashville giving Vancouver a run for their money like they are right now. Weber and Suter are keeping the Sedins in check big time but neither have been able to stop Kesler. Unfortunately for the Nucks, he was the only one who showed up last game and that killed them. Guy is a warrior, though. Hoping they can take it to seven games because I want to see one of those this round.
Might happen with the Wings-Sharks too if SJ has another 3rd period meltdown like they did tonight. Anyone see Roenick call out Marleau after the game? I hate JR but he's kind of right on this. Marleau's been invisible for the entire series.

Think the Wings might actually pull this off. Sharks were dominated that whole game and Niemi did all he could to keep them in it and then they just imploded late. We'll see if Clowe coming back has any positive effect for San Jose in game 7.

That was probably the best series of the playoffs. Happy that Marleau got the game-winner. Think SJ has a legitimate shot against Vancouver.

That was a great Game 7. I wish I had TSN so I could've paid more attention to the whole series, but CBC will pick up Vancouver/San Jose.
I can't wait for these conference finals. Both match ups are going to be really great and super interesting.

RIP, Mr. Boogaard. You played your game well and hard.
David Marchand's a tiny little fella, isn't he? At least standing next to Hedman and Lecavalier. I don't have and preference on this series so it's all fun.

Brad Marchand you mean? haha. Him and the B's second line were completely invisible tonight. Part of the reason why they lost, that and the Bruins powerplay sucks something awful. Also, why Seguin only had 9 minutes of ice time was beyond me. He was Boston's best forward not named Milan Lucic.

Haha, I knew I had something wrong.
Niemi's playing incredibly well tonight. Luo needs to step it up or this series is going to be pretty lopsided.

San Jose decided to sit on a one-goal lead in the 3rd period and it cost them big time. Only game one, though but the Sharks could definitely win the next game if they tighten things up. Also would help if they had more than one powerplay.

Are you cheering for the Sharks, Corey?
I'm glad Sedin scored the winner. The twins need to be the same offensive force they were in the regular season if they want to advance to the cup finals.

No preference, just hoping for a good series.
I did pick the Sharks and Bruins, though.

Ah, I see. I don't have any preference for the Bruins/Lightning series, but it'd be awesome to have a Canadian team make it to the finals (if not win the cup, which is what I'm ultimately rooting for).

The Flames are my favorite Canadian team but I like the Canucks a lot too. Although, Calgary's been getting rid of a lot of players I liked in the past few seasons.
Speaking of Canadian teams, strong rumors about the Thrashers relocating to Winnipeg are going around right now. I'm not buying anything until I see something official.

I've been keeping up with the rumours for a while. If it's happening it needs to be announced in the next week before the Thrasher's season ticket sale on Saturday.

Guess we'll find out. Guessing the divisions will be restructured if it does happen.
I'm gonna try to track scoring chances for one of the SCF games when I'm home from college. Good test for when I try to do this for the Caps next season. Actually, I might just do it for some random team because the Caps already have 3-4 guys who do stat blogs while there's a few other teams that don't have any.

So long, Sharks. Shame... they were showing life at all the right moments. That said, Canuncks deserve this trip, so good for them.
Hoping for Tampa Bay to squeeze out a few wins here.
