Penner looked good with his line last night... not stellar, but that chemistry will hopefully grow soon enough. I forgot going into the game that they were playing the Coyotes and I'd have to watch Shane Doan for 2 hours... grrrrrr....

Jason Arnott and Dennis Wideman have looked great for Washington so far. Arnott had a nice goal last night against the Blues. After our game against the Panthers on Sunday, we have some tougher match-ups though (Tampa, Philly, Chicago) so we'll have to see how that goes. Might determine if we'll win the division or not.
Chicago's been quietly on a tear lately.
Edit: Finally got caught up on the highlights from other games and holy shit, did anyone see Jonathan Toews goal against Calgary the other night? I'm never been on his bandwagon but he is really starting to dominate.

There have been some amazing plays this week. Great fodder for the highlight reels.
Ducks have been taking some lessons from the drama department. I thought the overtime penalty shot winner by Bobby Ryan was insane, but next game Selanne ties it in the finals minutes, the Visnofsky hat-tricks the game away in OT with 3 seconds left on the clock! I hope this type of energy propels us into the playoffs.

I think the Ducks will have a better chance if Jonas Hiller gets healthy. Ellis hasn't been too awful from what I've seen, though. That and I'm expecting Dallas to come down very soon but they had a nice win over the Sharks so I'm not sure what to think now.
What the fuck was that Flyers? First place in the East could be up for grabs very soon if they keep shitting the bed like this. That "crippled and beaten down" Pens team is only 2 points out and so are the Bruins. Caps have a chance to reclaim first in the Southeast tonight with a win over Florida and we play Tampa the next day. Should be a good game.

No kidding on the Fliers. How do they let the Rangers trounce them so thoroughly? 7-0? Disgrace!
Vancouver played better than us today, but they had their share of luck... 2 posts and a goalie stick shaft kept us right off the board. Still, they shut us down well enough. If we get into the playoffs, there's a good chance we're facing them in round 1. We've done well against them overall this season, but that doesn't comfort me missing Hiller and Koivu.

That loss against the Rangers was hilarious.
Fuck the Devils.

I can't figure out the Rangers. Sometimes they'll crush teams like that and then they won't be able to score 8 total goals for the rest of their games in a week.

Good lord, the plays this week! I think goalies need to unionize and figure out an aggressive way to shut down St. Louis on shoot-outs, cause that man doesn't seem to fail. And who the hell is this Ellis guy replacing my Hiller and making the save of the year?
Fun day in the league.

My god, the Oilers suck. Caps game against them looked like a skills competition.

What a comeback win for the Thrashers! Watching someone net that hat-trick late in the third to go up on you by 2 has to take it out of ya, and they just ramped back and snagged an overtime out of Phili's hands! Fun game.

I don't know what it is with the Flyers lately. They were dominating teams early in the season but they've been falling apart lately. It's one thing to blow a 3 goal lead to the Thrashers but having Ron Hainsey score the game winner on you is just brutal.
This Caps-Hawks game is the only fun thing I'm doing today so hopefully we win.

That Caps/RWs games looked intense! I didn't realize that Washington had so thoroughly escaped their slump.
Finally, the Ducks have worked their way back into a playoff spot. Hopefully we can move up a few spots, grab some insurance... though I wouldn't mind facing the Red Wings in the playoffs. That rivalry has been pretty good in postseason play.

Kings v. Blues was hilarious! A failed 5 on 1, a goal from center ice, the losing goal-tender playing insanely well and still letting in 4 goals... too funny.

Stars shutout the Hawks...lol. This is gonna be a crazy finish. Same with the East since the Thrashers, Canes and Leafs are only two points out now. hockeyrodent.com/Pretty good site for keeping track of playoff odds in the East.

Leafs are probably done now. The loss to the Panthers kind of shot us in the foot.

Yeah, that was a bad loss, especially since they beat both the Sabres and Canes. I don't think they are finished yet but it's going to be hard for them to get in. At least they seem to have found a goalie in Reimer for next season. I don't think they should plug him as the goalie of the future yet but he's at least earned a look.

The media in Toronto is relentless. As soon as someone starts to show some consistency they jump all over it as the saviour of the franchise.

Last night's game was infuriating but we're going back to the playoffs! Still, that was the worst I've seen our defense play in awhile and the Flyers were the better team. I guess it's good to know that we're winning despite the injuries.

Every game the Ducks have played in the last few weeks has felt like a playoff game: high intensity, close scoring, last minute goals, overtime excitement! Its been a crazy last few games and I love it!

Anze Kopitar broke his ankle and will be out 6 weeks. RIP Kings season. Hard to imagine them winning a series in the West without him and Justin Williams.

I heard about that and just winced. Haven't worked up the nerve to go watch the video yet.
My Ducks are just battling through so well. Plenty of wins down this stretch, moving up in the conference, and just scoring a lot. Come award time, we could nab a lot of the trophies: Perry has the goal lead in the league, Visnovsky the point lead for defensemen with a good +/-, Fowler the point lead for defensive rookies, Lydman is the +/- league leader... that's potentially the Rocket, James Norris, Calder, and the +/- right there. Pretty exciting for a club that started the year so abysmally.
SELANNE HATTRICK! GOD, I LOVE THIS YEAR!

Perry has a good shot at the Hart. The guy is a tool but he is playing some of the best hockey in the league this season. That award might come down to him, Toews, Tim Thomas and Stamkos. I guess Daniel Sedin and Pekka Rinne could be considered too. Ever since Crosby got hurt, there's been a ton of MVP contenders showing up. Norris will probably be Visnovsky, Lidstrom or Letang. Lidstrom has the reputation but Visnovsky's been unreal this year from an all-around standpoint. I think the Calder is Logan Couture's to lose at this point. Hard not to with 30 goals as a rookie.
I just love how many awesome first round match-ups there could be in the West this year. It's so hard to call any one of those teams an underdog except for LA without 2/3 of their first line. Imagine if the Hawks get the 8 seed and end up playing Vancouver in the first round? That would be a bloodbath. The Preds could scare some teams too with how they've been playing lately.

Its gonna be a great play-off, for sure. Hawks/Nucks first round would be incredible and I'd probably watch each game of the ordeal.
Just saw the Kopitar injury. You can tell how bad it is and my stomach knotted watching it. I hope that doesn't out him for longer than a season.

Huge win against Boston tonight. If Kadri keeps up at the pace he is, he's going to be a superstar in a few years.
Watching Avery get his ass kicked was fairly satisfying.

If I looked at everything correctly, tomorrow we're win and in. Would be a nice relief after flubbing tonight's game.
Quack!

What happened to Visnovsky? I heard he got knocked out of the game.
Caps powerplay finally came to life and we beat the Sabres in OT. Definitely a fun game to watch but ANOTHER d-man got hurt. Three in three games now but apparently Green is supposed to come back soon which would be a big help for depth purposes. That and I'm not sure who should be our starting goalie come playoff time.

He took a slap-shot from the point and Douglas Murray slammed him into the boards a few seconds later. The hit was late, put it was more how Visnovsky fell that caused the problem. He went into the boards right where they meet the ice and skated off the ice favoring his shoulder as though it were separated. Can't say I feel all that comfortable playing on without him.
Good to see the Kings pressing on without some stars. Sucks to see teams just lose out because of big injuries. That and I'd like to meet them in the playoffs once before I die.

I saw a video of it. It was late but I'm not sure if it was dirty in the sense that Murray should receive punishment for it. Major blow to the Ducks either way. Time to see what Cam Fowler is made of because his workload is going to be increase big time if Lubo is out.
