Oh man, I was kinda half-watching the latest Transformers movie. What a huge hunk of shit. I've seen the first one, and caught part of one of the others, but like Transformers have guns now? What? Was that in the other movies?

Jurassic World was AWESOME. I thought it was gonna be a little funnier too, Katie, but overall, it was exactly what I was hoping for. Really appreciated all of the nods to the original though. especially... as soon as they said to open Paddock 9 at the end, I let out a "YES!" but thankfully everyone else was getting into the movie too. goddamn, that whole ending fight made me so happy. Exactly what I want out of a Jurassic Park movie, lots of dino fighting. edit: Avon, the Transformers have guns now in the newest movie? wut??? the original Michael Bay Transformers was actually fairly entertaining, but i'm super glad i didn't keep following it if that's what they did to it.

The Cobbler had too many plot lines going on. It was entertaining but seemed like 4 or 5 different episodes of a sitcom rather than a movie.

Yeah, dude, they have giant like plasma guns that they just whip out of nowhere and shoot each other and humans. It's fucking weird. Haha.

I watched Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer last night. It was okay. I was sort of drunk, but I found it...I don't know, unconvincing? Like, I didn't really trust it as a documentary. There was some great footage, though. It got me kind of fired up, so I watched The Punk Singer (again) afterwards. GOD DAMMIT I love Kathleen Hanna. She's my hero.

Saw Amy last weekend and it just made me even sadder. I mean, I knew it wasn't gonna be a happy documentary, but I didn't realize how shitty the people around her were to her. But, at the same time, I'm glad that it portrayed her as an actual human being who was witty and funny and all that stuff, not just the trainwreck, drug addict mess that she's been portrayed in the media. Anyway, yeah, it was good. Made me sad, but I'm glad I saw it.

Trainwreck was so funny, holy shit.
I've watched a thousand movies this week. I'm spending a ton of my free time cross stitching so Netflix is always on, and I decided instead of rewatching and / or marathoning shows I was actually going to watch some of the movies I have queued up.
Zoolander - meh, really thought I would like it more for how talked up it is Side Effects liked it a lot 13 Sins - one of those "anonymous people make a good person do bad things" deals, entertaining enough The Frozen Ground - Vanessa Hudgens is not great at acting or accents Nymphomaniac I don't know why Disturbing Behavior - I remember really liking it as a kid cause I had a crush on Nick Stahl but the last time I watched it I was young enough that my little bro and I made each other cover our eyes because boobs, had no idea James Marsden was the lead, I have a soft spot for it Perfect Host - I dug it, I am watching Frasier for the first time and really love it so I watched it cause I love David Hyde Pierce now Advantageous - LOVED it Cake - LOVED it Devil - eh Drive Me Crazy - another rewatch from when I was a kid, so so 90s
Yeah that's about a thousand.

We saw Ant Man Saturday and both loved it. Hopefully we'll see Trainwreck next weekend depending on Alana's work schedule.

Took my kid to see Inside Out Saturday. We got like 3/4 of the way through so my wife & I are going back for my birthday since I want to see the rest and she didn't go with us. It was soooooooo good. And WTF? The short they played before was kinda lame but soooooo sad.

Yeah Mixed emotions. The lyrics were so dumb but the story was so sad. The "happy" ending kind of made me feel silly though.

No I was so relieved, I was really distressed the whole time hahahah. I kept telling myself "it's Pixar, it's gonna end well" but it just kept getting sadder and sadder.

Finally saw Jurassic World. I had been super excited for it until I saw the trailer and it made me completely not want to see it. The plot was a complete mess and I couldn't find it in myself to care at all about nearly any of the characters, but dinosaurs, so yeah. Also, I now wish I were a kid and the park were real just so that I could ride a baby triceratops - while at the same time being very sad for the poor baby triceratopses for having to be ponies.
The theater we went to needs to get their shit together though. We had no sound for all the previews and the first part of the movie, even after we told them twice that the sound was out - and once we had all gone to get refunds (which is when they told us that the picture was fixed...the picture was never the problem), that's when they tell us that they had restarted it...which is great except for the part where we would still be missing the beginning. So they started it over a second time.

Ant-Man was great! I thought it was funny, but it got a tad annoying when it'd be joke after joke after joke for the sake of having a joke. I want to see Pixels next weekend. Never went to see Inside Out and now I'm sure I won't until it comes out on blu-ray.
Also been picking up some Criterions at Barnes while their 50% off sale is going. Been meaning to watch Time Bandits, but never find the right time. Gonna pick up a couple more this weekend.
Katie, I never understood the following that Zoolander gets. It's funny, but no where near as great as people make it out to be.

Oh man. Went back with my wife to see Inside Out again. That shit is so good. And my oldest kid is on a Disney/Pixar kick so we watched Toy Story 3, Monsters Inc, and Monsters University yesterday as well as Big Hero 6 and Cars on Saturday. SpongeBob movie on Friday too. Having him sit still for entire movies has been amazing.

We saw Crimson Peak a couple weekends ago. It's funny because the trailer makes it to look like a shitty ghost story. But then Del Toro and others are like "no no, it's not a ghost story, it's a gothic romance."
But no, it was literally just a shitty ghost story akin to The Haunting. Fuck, the movie was beautiful and the acting was amazing, but the plot was some fucking bullshit.

I indeed, did not see Inside Out until it came out on blu-ray and I loved it. I knew it would be one of those "pull on your heartstrings" Pixar film, but it didn't quite go the way I thought it would. In the end, it was just as good as I was expecting, just not in the same way as I was expecting. If that makes sense? Hard to explain I guess.

Watched the last Hunger Games movie today. I liked it, though the third act seemed like it was trying to play a game at which next plot point could be the most obvious. Catching Fire is the best of the trilogy, but this was entertaining.
Also I saw it with my mom, who believes that Jennifer Lawrence is me (or vice versa, I'm not really sure how it works), so she clutched my hand the WHOLE TIME and started full on sobbing about an hour in.
