Finally got around to seeing John Wick, that movie kicks ass. I love when movies respect your intelligence and imagination enough to throw in lots of colorful world-building details without feeling the need to explain them.

I have heard that from so many people. I love Keanu too so I've wanted to see it ever since it came out just because it's him, but for some reason it just hasn't happened yet.

You guys, Arrival is so fucking good. If you're into sci-fi you need to see it. It's just a smart, poignant movie with a perfectly-executed twist.

I went to see Arrival a couple of days ago. I didn't love the whole movie but I enjoyed it and really liked the premise, and I liked that it wasn't action-packed.
I'm gonna go see A United Kingdom next week!

Ex Machina last night. Liked it a lot, effects were cool and I loved the ending. Kinda kept me guessing throughout. Ink tonight, really loved it. It reminded me a lot of a Russian film (Night Watch) in its production and basic theme/premise. I think the effects worked REALLY well, especially within its budget, and was interesting and layered but not esoteric or hard to follow. Just very good storytelling.

So far this weekend I've seen John Wick 2, The Nice Guys and Sicario, so I've been killing it movie-wise

Jodorowsky's Dune. I really liked it but that dude is clearly unhinged haha. I wanted it to be more about the book and telling that story, but I really liked the bit where he talked about seeing the Lynch film and feeling delighted because it was so terrible.

Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, and Res Evil: Final Chapter.
Res Evil was absolute shit and not even guilty pleasure good. Fantastic Beasts was fantastic and I can't wait for the sequel! And I watched Rogue One for like the fourth time literally just to get to the end because it's so BAD ASS.

I forgot how much I love 28 Days Later. And not just because of nude shots of Cillian Murphy.

Honestly, that's literally the only reason I think anyone should enjoy that movie.
I saw Edge of Seventeen this weekend. What a piece of crap. We had Fences but didn't get around to it. Wish we'd picked that instead. Fuck.

Wonder Woman fucking RULED. Surprisingly hilarious, and just kicked so much ass. The big WWI scenes in the middle were some of the coolest shit I've seen in a superhero movie.

I went to the movies by myself for the first time! What fun! Except I went to see mother!.
But seriously I actually liked it. The reviews online were so polarizing, and I really do love Aronofsky's films, so I was very much intrigued. The third act got a bit wacky, and the Biblical allegory was...heavy-handed, but the performances were great and the cinematography was beautiful. I love the way the scores in both Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan really influence the tone and mood of various scenes, but there was absolutely no music in this one. Mostly just JLaw panting in a panicked manner. Also Javier Bardem is awesome.

Yeah I've been hesitant to see mother! because the reviews are super polarizing and the trailers give absolutely no hint of what the it's about. Like I got rosemary's baby vibes from the trailer but apparently it's like totally not that. Aronofsky is great so I have faith in it
"It" deserves all the hype its getting imo. I loved it. There were a good amount of jump scares but I love those personally, and its not like the movie relied on them or anything, and only a couple of them were totally out of nowhere. The Pennywise dancing part was hilarious and also Finn Wolfhard is one of my favorite people.
