The breakdown in "War By Any Other Means" is fucking unreal.

you know how, sometimes, you just miss a band? like, an important one?
well, many years ago, i bought Black Flag's Damaged, and then lost it. I only listened once. I bought a new copy a couple days ago. I'm listening to it right now. fucking a. why didn't I get this again sooner?

Because you've been slacking.
Just hope that Henry Rollins doesn't get wind of it or he'll clobber you with his neck.

It's funny, I didn't ever really notice how much they sounded like the Descendents on some songs. Rollins and Milo had really similar shouts.

Greg Ginn is the master of reckless guitar playing.
He makes it seem so effortless.
edit: Goddamnit...I hate putting this album on because it compels me to drink and be all wild.
I have no booze!

Different album, but I've had "Black Coffee" stuck in my head all day. Fuck, where's the Black Flag thread? haha.

Shit, I forgot to post in here about the Undertow show!
It was fucking nuts! I ended up making some money by selling two extra tickets, which was cool. Some guy drove up from Califuckingfornia without even buying tickets. He was the first in line, and it was cold as hell, and he had a t-shirt on, so I sold him one. The other dude I sold one to got kicked out of the show letter for fighting..
Touche Amore was fucking rad! A lotalotalot of energy. Really fun.
I reaaaaaally liked Marginal Way, I need to get my hands on some recordings or something.
The Helm was cool, but I don't remember much.
Balance of the World was interesting to see because the guys just look olddddd. Musically it was a good set by them, but the dude obviously didn't have it in him to sing like he used to.
STRAIN was fucking NUTS. I think this is where it started getting really crazy, I don't remember the reason, might have been a shitty mic, or a fight or something, but they had to stop during their first song and restart, might have just got tooooo crazy. By this point people were stage-diving on their heads, the pits were nuts. A fight broke out, I think it had something to do with some guy trying to shove Pettibone in a pit.
Converge was incredible, even after playing with Mastadon they had so much energy; a ton of the crowd had no idea they were coming so it was crazy when they found out. Jake also had a ton of crazy inspirational shit to say.
Unbroken was great, everybody loved it, fights ensued. Somebody tried to head-walk off of the balcony. They failed, and security annihilated them. During some parts of the set Dave seemed kind of irked by the stage-diving. But I don't blame him. I think during their set a friend of my boss's walked out of the pit and soon back to the pit vicinity with a broken/missing tooth.
After Undertow set up they just launched straight into their set, no talking, nothing. Crowd was crazy. Except for the couple of douchebags diving feet-first into the pits and just there to beat kids up the crowd was excellent, all together having fun. Pettibone's friend's (i think he was a merch guy or something) wife was totally tanked by this point (funny to note how empty the bar was at this show) and kept stage-diving every ten seconds until people were physically blocking her from doing it, and she was escorted out. The band looked like they were having the best time of all.
Really. Fucking. Awesome.

So, last nights show was pretty incredible. Carry On was the special guest at the show, and they put on a terrific fucking set. It was something totally different at this show. All the hardcore shows I've ever been to has always been about kids getting in the pit, making sure they punch the hardest, dance the hardest, and slam people, but this wasn't the case at the show. There were well over 1000 kids packed into a tiny club, and everyone shared the stage. Kids would push to the front, get on the mic, stagedive off, and go to the back and do it again. There were people speaking tons of languages, I met some dudes from Amsterdam, Germany, Spain, Sweden. It sounds corny, but it made me love hardcore again. I wish all shows were like this. People were helping people on the ground up, no one was fighting, and everyone was singing along to every single fucking word. Best show I've ever been to, and more than likely, the best show I will ever go to.

Yeah. Carry On were the Special Guests. I was thinking it was gonna be Ten Yard Fight, cause it would have made sense, exactly 10 years after they break up, and I saw the singer and drummer walking around, but it turned out to be Carry On. Still a fucking rad set.
Also, Have Heart said they were closing, and dedicated their "last song of the set" to P's Dad. It was Unbreakable, then they dedicated their final song ever to the crowd and played Watch Me Rise. Those two songs were so intense.

It was sweet pete, and the have heart band. Except for Kei. And it was the drummer from Cruel Hands. And no, I don't think anyone is still edge in that band, except pete.
