Finally listening to Trapped Under Ice's EP and I surprisingly like it a lot. New album worth getting? It is, yeah. I don't think it's quite as good as Stay Cold, but it's really fucking good. Bummed about Sex Vid.

So I just heard that at Minor Threat's last show, Ian sang Betray while staring at Jeff Nelson the whole time. Did this happen? That sounds scary.

It happened, but I'm not sure if it was their last show. It was written about in Our Band Could Be Your Life, which I think is a pretty credible source.
He also punched a hole in Jeff's door after Jeff told him he was interested in drinking and trying drugs. What a rambunctious fellow!

Man, I've just been really getting back into Minor Threat and that makes me feel like he's even closer to me. It doesn't bother me anymore, but when my closest friend first started drinking it made me really mad or sad or something and I can completely understand that, well short of the punching a hole in a door. It's a stupid reaction, but when you feel like someone is that close to you and they do something you wouldn't, it sucks.

He was upset because he thought he and the rest of Minor Threat were all on the same page about the straight edge thing. He was also like 19 or 20 at the time. Crazy to think that he was my age when he made these records.

Sex Vid's last show last night was buck wild. People were cramped into that pizzeria so tight, I can't believe the fire marshal/cops didn't come shut it down. Definitely the biggest and wildest show without security or any regulation that I've been to. So many dives off the bar/tables/booths, nonstop thrash action. Iron Lung was also incredible. God, so amazing.

I just found out today that the bonus track on Dirty Sanchez by Zeke is a Fleetwood Mac cover. Haha.

Brian Redman (Trial bass player) passed away this weekend. Please play "are these our lives" as loud as you can in his memory. This is hands down the best hardcore record of all time. www.wordsasweapons.com/triallyrics.htmlClick on each song title for the mp3.

Awful about Brian. The NW is hurting right now. I didn't know the guy but I know a lot of people who did. Condolences to all his friends and family.

Ghostlimb. Ghostlimb. Ghostlimb. Ghostlimb.
Seriously. Their full-length (way too short but they released it as an LP) and 10" split with Fischer are both AWESOME.
This band is probably the best hardcore band right now IMO.

Was that not a widely known thing yet? Oops. I assumed most people knew now since everyone at the Bane show last night was talking about it.
I think Pettibone might have mentioned it on Dead Air the other night.

I think Pettibone might have mentioned it on Dead Air the other night. Haha, yeah, I guess it's been pretty known over the past couple days. How was Bane? My boyf says Greg Bennick got onstage and sang a song with them with tears in his eyes, dedicating it to Brian Redman. If I'd been there I probably would have lost it. Undertow tonight, pretty bummed I'm not going, but can't wait to hear the stories.

Yeah, Greg did "Every Effort Made" with the band, and gave a really heartbreaking speech beforehand. There were times where he was crying so hard that he had to stop talking. I definitely had tears in my eyes by the end of it. Never thought I'd be witness to a room full of crying hardcore kids, haha.
As far as the actual show goes, it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Turn-out was pretty lame, and quite a few people left after Trash Talk played. Still had a blast, though.

I saw Final Fight cover Trial a few years ago. It was awesome. Everyone went off. The drums at the beginning of War by Other Means is fucking epic.
