So, 2012 and its Summer is undoubtedly gonna be a big year for films. The movies I'm most excited for are TDKR of course, Prometheus, and The Avengers. Men in Black III will be fun! I'll probably see Frankenweenie. Lastly, Lincoln is gonna be awesome! Also, I wouldn't say I'm "stoked" for The Amazing Spider-Man, but I'm certainly curious and will be seeing it.

The Master. Moonrise Kingdom. Brave. Skyfall. Jeff Who Lives At Home. Gravity. This Is Forty. American Reunion (it will almost certainly be terrible, but I'm looking forward to it anyways. I grew up with these movies). Gangster Squad. And possibly Tarantino's new movie.

Paranorman looks kinda cool too. I really liked Coraline. And I too am curious about The Amazing Spiderman, if not necessarily excited.

I forgot about Brave! Definitely plan on seeing it. I don't know what Paranorman is but I liked Coraline too, so I take it I should be interested. Am I the only Alien fan here?

I have been trying not to get too excited, but now I am ridiculously excited.

So excited for it. Oh and I didn't know they were making The Great Gatsby! Baz Luhrmann is making the Great Gatsby. My expectations are low. I like what he does for the Australian film industry but good christ Australia was fucking terrible.

It (Australia) reminded me of a bad version of that Nick Cave movie with Guy Pierce that I liked so much. It was weird.

The Proposition. That was an awesome film, but I'm not sure what it has in common with Australia except for the desert.
I know he mostly did it for the international market, but calling it Australia was just bizarre. It's set in England and the top quarter of the Northern Territory. Where barely anybody lives. And then they colour graded the shit out of the landscape so instead of being all naturally gorgeous which is what the territory is, it looked all mythic and fake and weird.
I could write an essay on everything I hate about that movie so I'll stop now haha.

So Terrence Malick is doing a movie with Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale, Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett called "Lawless".
Color me stoked.

He went from directing five films in 36 years to four films in three years. Haha.

Jack the Giant Killer has some promise. And Mirror, Mirror looks hilarious! I love a good Julia Roberts performance.

It looks sweet. I've yet to see a Wes Anderson film I haven't fallen in love with.

Didn't look good to me at first, then it grew on me. Excited. Anderson is one of my favorite directors.

Not trying to be a Debbie here, but Jesus Christ I hate Wes Anderson movies.
I'm stoked for Red Tails next weekend. I'm an enormous WWII nerd, especially when it comes to the air combat, and this looks spectacular. I've been waiting forever for someone to do a big budget movie about this stuff. Even better that's it's about the Tuskegee Airmen.

Wes Anderson hasn't aged well with me, I think because he totally abandoned his Houston worldview.
There's nothing more boring than people who forget where they came from, because the more they leave that base the less authentic their work feels. Sure enough, his work got less and less interesting after Royal Tennenbaums.
Plus, now that I have to work for a living, I tend to find his characters smug and over privileged. It's hard to throw yourself into a directors work that constantly seems to feed on people running away from work or responsibility even though they're middle aged - with the constantly unstated aspect being I bet they can afford to run these flights of fancy on family money.

Oh, but I'll also add Haywire to my list of things I'm excited about. Apparently the lead actress is an MMA fighter? Hopefully she's more The Rock than John Cena.

just wanted to chime in and say that the trailer for Moonrise Kingdom looks like a parody of a Wes Anderson film.
