Hahaha Sarah, yay! I know I don't know a whole lot about speedskating, but Korea's (women's) relay team getting DQ'd bummed me out. We did so bad, too, so I couldn't even get excited when that meant we got bronze. I think that was a huge bullshit decision by the judges. I've seen the replay 10 times now and she makes a clean cut inside while the Chinese skater steps on the base of her skate. That men's speed skater who got DQ'd cause his coach told him to take the wrong track is even sadder. His was on course to break the world record! That's what I thought! I chalked it up to me really not knowing a lot about the rules for calls like that, but it seemed to me that it was all the Chinese girl's fault. The Korean chick looked like she did everything right, to me. I'm surprised/impressed she didn't fall. I don't understand how stepping on somebody's skate isn't a DQ but contact made when trying not to fall because your skate got stepped on is. I feel SO bad for that dude, too. Especially since you could tell he was hesitant to change lanes but did it last minute because he trusted his coach. Uggggggh.

The only problem is that the matches are at silly times, which means that sometimes my students are tired/late because they've been watching them!

Big thumbs up to the women's hockey team for winning silver!

What the fuck, Finland? What. The. Fuck. I was rooting for a good game, with a slight hope that USA comes out of it with a win only because they've played so well as a group. But damn, its just a slaughter out there! lol, Rafalski's gonna end this game with 10 assists.

Man, that was painful to watch. I mean, I knew the game was over after the first goal, but I still can't believe how they were able to suck that much. It'd be easy to just blame Kiprusoff, but it's not like anyone was playing even remotely well. I kind of regret that I started watching this slaughter on ice instead of The Graduate.

I can't believe Slovakia didn't hit either of those wide-open shots! What an almost-comeback! That would have been one of the most incredible upsets I've ever witnessed in any sport. Slovakia literally had no presence in the first 50 minutes of that game, then out of nowhere, explosiveness.
Canada needs to figure out where these kinks keep coming from. I'd say that USA are clearly the favorites in the gold medal game now.

I kept getting yelled at when the snowboard pipe was going on, because I was rooting for people I liked, rather than just the U.S. Canada's got some good riders, man.

I can't believe that happened. WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE CROSBY? ? I'm still INCREDIBLY proud of how we did, especially Miller. No one picked us to get a medal, and we got silver. Well done, boys.

I'm sad we didn't win, but if someone had to beat us, glad it was Crosby.
I'm also probably the only American who still likes Crosby.
I didn't get to see any of the game at all, but from what I hear, we put up a good fight, but Canada just played harder than us. Oh well. Silver is better than nothing!

One of the best hockey games I've ever seen. It was so even all game long, and P Kane might be my favorite player in the league now. He's just relentless and so smooth on the entry. Ryan Miller earned every ounce of that MVP, even in a losing effort. His stats and play were incredible. I'm glad it was Crosby who put the final puck in; seemed a rather fitting end.
Ducks medals: 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze. Oh yeah.

G'day folks. Fuck me, am I hungover, that four hour drive didn't help much either. I hope everyone enjoyed the olympics, aside from our faux proud native heritage, I was pretty proud. It was a good day to be a Canadian yesterday and I'm so happy I was right there in the middle of it all. No one really gives a shit about patriotism here, and I'm no exception, but it was fun to be that happy with all those people, everyone was so stoked and friendly.
That was the greatest game ever, easily the best hockey ever played. I'm glad it was against the US too. Both teams wanted it, and it could have gone either way, I suppose. I still have no voice. I'm gonna go pass out.
