Neal, I have often wondered the same thing while watching some of the events. Do these kids watch the Olympics one year and then pester their parents until the let them learn to do their sport of choice?

Glad the older Chinese people won though. awww. I didn't get to watch, but yay!! Anybody who goes through a ruptured achilles tendon deserves a little something for his troubles. CURLING TODAY YOU GUYS I'M SO EXCITED. And it's on USA so I was able to record it (we don't have the networks on our satellite). Yessssssss.

One sport I don't get is the biathlon.

I think biathalon makes sense. It's very nordic. Ski around, hunt to survive, ski home. hahah.
Neal, some countries I think the parents do enroll them. Like China, Russia, Romania, etc...they pick them as kids for some sports and they live at 'academies.' Others...perhaps it was a family tradition. Maybe a local pasttime. I dont know!

But who the hell decided that should be an international sport? Haha.
On another note. PIERRE MCGUIRE. OLYMPIC HOCKEY. Oh god, the lulz should be a-plenty.

My Slovak students were well pleased about the biathlon, although I had never heard of it!

Miller seems to always let in a few goals like that every year. He makes a good play with a poke check and has it bounce over him. Nothing to help it, I guess.

Go USA and Canada. Woo!

Canada's hockey team looks so brutal. Took awhile for them to get on the board, but after the, just relentless. I don't see them losing it this year, but the Finland team looks good again, if a bit rusty.
Bobby Ryan scores his first! Hell yeah, I suddenly have a reason to root for USA a bit.

I'm watching Finland vs. Belarus right now. In games like this, I never know who the fuck to root for.
EDIT: I'm going for Belarus. Finland is more of a threat.

For real. Very fun to watch.
Speed skating is like crack for me now. I cannot get enough and all I want to do is watch it.
I really want to watch men's ice skating tomorrow but I cannot find two schedules that tell me the same time. Does anybody know FOR SURE when it's going down? I think I'm going to miss it. Efffffff.

Did any one catch all the girls eat shit on the women's downhill? Unbelievable. Pretty awesome that we took gold and silver, though. Also, Shaun White is just incredible. Also part II--women's curling needs to win a game. We are down 0-2. Get it together, guys.

Man, some of those falls (okay all of them) made me cringe. So hard to watch. So glad everybody was able to walk away from them, though. Good word.
