Aw, I wanted Weir to do better. Mr. Lysacek is a hot-ass motherfucker. Word. So glad he won, I loved his performance.

There is a guy on Norway's hockey team named Vikingstad. Either he breaks baseball bats over his knee for fun in his spare time, or he doesn't deserve a name that manly.

Johnny Weir is like the embodiment of Nightmare Before Christmas ultra fem version.
He seems douchey though.

Sarah, is there fun rivalry between Czech and Slovak teams? Hey sorry I didn't see this message until now! I just asked one of my students and he said that, in his opinion, it's like an older brother vs. younger brother sort of situation - they were together as a country for a long time so it's only silly squabbling when they argue about sports. Hope that answered your question! Now Slovakia vs. Hungary is another matter...

HAHA And I'm sad there isn't lots of fun rivalry now. But I can see all of eastern Europe wanting to beat Russia.

Johnny Weir is from like 30-40 minutes from here, and that means that everyone has to come out of the woodwork with their stories. But the consensus has been that he's a huge douchebag.
And hell yeah for the USA v. Canada game tomorrow.

There is a guy on the ice on a ladder to change out the Plexiglas. Ice + ladder does not equal my idea of a good time.

Psyched for Canada vs USA tomorrow. 100% on board. Going in, I felt Canada was unstoppable and that the USA lacked depth, but they look much closer than I thought. Should be a good game. Allot of NHL teammates facing each other, from what I can tell.

Canada seems leaderless. When they get a little back on their heels, there seems to be no one to step up and get their heads back on straight. That's what I glean from their games, anyway. Seems to be the classic example of an over-stacked all-star team that Herb Brooks always lamented over.

I spent last night drinking with some mates turning everything the commentators said about Eve Muirhead (Scottish, not GB, Curling Team Skip) into really bad innuendo.
I am pissed that I've missed so much of the skiing, I love them crashes.

The hockey game today is going to tell us all a lot about our teams. Canada has bugs they need to work out, and if they don't do it today they likely won't come together and make a run of it. Our defense is second to none, and I'm poud to to know Shea Weber, almost all my life, we're all rooting for him, and so far he's been the best for Canada on the blueline. But some of our forwards are just dead eyed and shouldn't even be there. I like Bergeron, but all he can do is win face-offs, he's been completely useless otherwise, and I doubt Richards will have any more success with Crosby. I hate everyone on the Ducks team, except Neider'.
The US team is pretty solid, but their blueline is dangerously young and inexperienced, and their older boys are painfully slow. It's really up to Ryan Miller today. They have the scoring most days, and have pretty good secondary scoring too with Kesler up there, he can win races and plays with more heart than half the team combined. Bobby Ryan knows how to play our line from Anaheim, but it's Parise that a Canadian worries about. He knows Brodeur well, and obviously they practice shoot-outs together, so they're both very aware of what the other guy can do.
Should be a good game, it'll make both teams better at the end of the day, but I want those two points.

Hurray for Bode Miller! He has finally won a gold medal.
I don't know anyone that isn't psyched about the game tonight. Something about the most powerful nation on earth claiming underdog status in a sport most of us don't care about really appeals to the American soul.

Man, Neidermayer just dished the cheapest shot I've ever seen from him. He always has a cool head.
What a scrappy goal by the Drury line. Good plays by Ryan and Rafalski to work the puck in.
That collision between Perry, Staal, and Pronger was so awkward. Bet USA was a bit miffed to have a whistle blown with such an advantageous position.
Good period.

God, that has to be the 40th stick Perry has slashed clean through this year alone. Jeez, kid, stop that shit!

CROSBY SCORES!!!
What a nice feed from behind the blue line. Come on, overtime!
Good lord, Canada must have made 20 shots in that second to last minute.
I just lost so much respect for Perry. Hustle to that fucking puck, you twat! Great play by Kesler and all, but come on, man.

Send Corey Perry the fuck home. No fucking way he should have lost a foot race with Parise like that. He didn't even care.
Basically, the two players I mentioned in my initial post were the ones that showed up and they did their job. How is it I can predict this and Team Canada cannot? It was the Ryan Miller show, that's for sure We out shot the US badly, but because Brodeur thinks like a moron and plays the puck way too often, he coughed it up and let in garbage goals. Luongo would not have lost this game, not a chance. He doesn't take chances like that. 100% Brodeur's fault. So now we have to play another bullshit game... oi vey.

I know I don't know a whole lot about speedskating, but Korea's (women's) relay team getting DQ'd bummed me out. We did so bad, too, so I couldn't even get excited when that meant we got bronze.

Corey Perry, you're forgiven. I know I don't know a whole lot about speedskating, but Korea's (women's) relay team getting DQ'd bummed me out. We did so bad, too, so I couldn't even get excited when that meant we got bronze. I think that was a huge bullshit decision by the judges. I've seen the replay 10 times now and she makes a clean cut inside while the Chinese skater steps on the base of her skate. That men's speed skater who got DQ'd cause his coach told him to take the wrong track is even sadder. His was on course to break the world record!
