Y'know what goes real well with Loveless? Acid.

Oh jeez, I haven't listened to Loveless in years, but I do love it so much. Also I've never done acid.
I've found that listening to Joy Division quietly at work assuages much of my angst. surprisingly.
Edit: Obviously those thoughts were unrelated, but I thought I'd make it clearer...

A lot of R.E.M., spurred on by a documentary about them I watched on Palladia earlier.

I really, really hate REM, but I do remember my friend having a pregnancy scare and going to Planned Parenthood to get a test. She sat in the lobby while "Everybody Hurts" played on the radio. I always thought that was hilarious (she did too, and was not pregnant in the end).
I'm listening to MSTRKRFT's Essential Mix for kicks. It's so funny, I used to listen to this sort of shit allllll the time, and I'm only revisiting it because of the DFA79 connection... I haven't heard Pete Tong's voice in forever.

went back and listened to War All The Time for the first time in a while. Steps Ascending still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.

Lotsa stoner metal lately. Electric Wizard, Bongzilla, Church Of Misery, Sleep. Found a cd on the line today called Sleep - A Good Night's Sleep and it made me laugh.
Also Dillinger Four-CIVIL WAR and Iron Chic-Not Like This nonstop in the car for weeks now. Always so stoked wherever I go.

man, CIVILWAR is like a perfect album. D4 need to release another album already.
the last few days, I keep switching between Have Mercy - A Place of Our Own and The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace Is There.

Last night I got drunk by myself and came to the conclusion that Beat Happening is the NW indie rock version of the Beastie Boys.
Someone needs to confirm or deny this for me.
Edit: I may take this to Facebook.

I still believe The Devil and God... is the best album ever, but fuckin a, Deja Entendu is basically perfect too. Wouldn't change a single thing about it. I neeeeeed a new Brand New album soon, it's been 6 goddamn years since the last album.

revisiting Rank/Xerox today. I wonder what the fuck ever happened to those dudes, their tumblr has been inactive since 2013 and I haven't heard a single thing from them since the album. that self-titled is super good though, kinda unnerving post punkish music. I doubt this will ever be a "hidden gem" record, but it really should be.

Goodbye Horses by Q Lazzarus. I probably listen to this song way more than I should.

Cursed - One, II and III in a row.
Their production was so stellar for a hardcore band. The drums and guitars on II blow my mind every single time. III is still a little weird at times, but I'm really starting to love it as much as the first two albums. its still shitty how they had to break up, but they unleashed some hell with these albums.

listenin to Cam'Ron today. i know Hey Ma and Oh Boy were huge back in the day, but goddamn, how did Down and Out not blow up like Through the Wire? classic Kanye beat with soul samples, Kanye and Syleena Johnson on the hook and Cam just cuts through the beat like butter. goodness.

Also, I can listen to Dave talk about rap music for like 10 seconds before I get hungry.

WE EATIN' FAM. I might need to stop reading /r/hiphopheads so much haha.
re: Daisy, I really came around on that album. It kinda feels like the start to a nervous breakdown and I dig it so much now.
i just noticed i have like half of the posts on this page. i don't know how that makes me feel.

Everyone else needs to pick up the slack, obviously!
today has been kinda unreal. Mark Ronson just premiered part of the remix of Uptown Funk with a guest verse from Action Bronson and it's pretty fire. hyped as fuck for his new album. Also, new Kanye song just dropped yesterday, new Kendrick song dropped a few days ago, new Curren$y song just dropped... if all of these albums come out at the same time, i'm gonna just drop off the face of the earth for a week.

Run The Jewels was playing a festival 15 minutes from my house this summer with Gaslight and a few other folks, but it's $200 and fuck that. I refuse to spend that much money to be hot and super uncomfortable in a sea of people I don't like. RTJ2 grew on me a whole bunch, I don't know how I can be so dumb sometimes.

So I finally got around to buying Beck's Morning Phase (the clerk at the record store said, "I haven't heard anything about this, is it good?" a) I don't know, that's why I'm buying it, and b) ....I heard there was a thing with Kanye and also ALBUM OF THE YEAR?). I...I like it, but...you guys, isn't it just Sea Change? The first song has almost the exact same chord progression as "The Golden Age." Am I taking crazy pills?

You're not crazy at all haha. I haven't listened to it, but my friend Nick likes Beck a lot and he was saying the exact same thing. I had heard something about it being a "companion piece" or some shit like that.

I saw him play in a coffee shop a couple years ago and he just has the most bizarre behavior, very much...performance art. But I do really like Beat Happening, and I think the Halo Benders are the shit. Thanks, Dave! Shit. It's good, but it's also...I don't know, I find it funny. But I guess it's been 12 years since Sea Change was released and he's done all sorts of things in between, so it's not ultimately unexpected. That's one of the reasons I love Beck--you never really know what's going to happen.

Protest the Hero for the rest of the night. I think i finally figured out my beef with Fortress, it just sounds so thin on the production at points. I think Nich might be the only one who cares about that haha. still a really solid album.
