that's what cartoons are!!! they're not supposed to really look like people. You mean like the Simpsons? there's a gap between looking like shit: and looking cartoonish: and what I really hate is when people just write off an entire medium. that's stupid.

I don't know, dude, I don't see the inherent "you can get more attached to this than that" when comparing standard anime art to The Simpsons. In fact, it's a good comparison. When The Simpsons hits a good, dramatic part, I do react emotionally to it, because the quality of the writing transcends the silly-looking art. However, the fact that it looks silly does give it a certain something to transcend that a live-action movie or show wouldn't have.
Also, I'm not gonna lie, anime is one of those things whose image has suffered a lot due to its fans. The stereotypical "anime fan" is so prevalent in the online communities I frequent, and so fucking annoying, that seeing a few seconds of that art style normally puts me in a shitty mood. I've come to associate anime with a complete disregard for how people react to crazy shit, for one--which is why the anime I do like is stuff that examines a more realistic psychology. Basically, there's not this massive benefit I'm missing out on by writing off anime as a genre. I'll still watch good shows that come to my attention, but I'll never be an "anime fan" or list it among my interests, because that is the "^_^ OMGZ HES SOOOOO KOOL" mating call.

Anime connoisseurs I need your help finding a specific anime!
I don't remember many details but a few months ago I stumbled across an anime whose main protagonists were a boy and girl pilot/delivery team. They lived together and looked to be in their teens. At some point they pick up a little girl and are asked to deliver her to an airship for some reason.
What anime is this? I can't remember the name and it's killing me.

Nicky, are you talking about Last Exile? I don't know much about it, but it seems to have the same general plot.

SPOILERS, NICK, SPOILERS!
Sounds like Outlaw Star, Nicky, except that's two dudes and the girl isn't a little girl. So... yeah it's not Outlaw Star. Sorry.
