I really want to see Nodame Cantabile. I'm reading the manga, but the anime looks pretty fun.

I liked Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Nana (on a different note, haha). I also watched Elfen Lied all the way through but wasn't exactly enjoying myself. I don't like the "whiny-voiced annoying female character" trend in anime, or the cutesy art style in that show in general.

Yeah. Someone will probably have to tap me on the shoulder and inform me of it though, I don't think I'd ever find out otherwise.

I really liked what I read of Nana, but I read on wikipedia or something that SPOILER not-in-the-band Nana gets knocked up? SPOILER and I'm worried that reading the rest of it would just be disappointing.

Yeah, Tanya, she does, but I actually thought it fit pretty well in the plot at that time. I feel like the series has gotten really long-winded at this point, though, but that could be because I've been following it for so long that I lost track of half of the subplots, not to mention the series has gone on hiatus two or three times, and I've never gone back and reread any of it.

Never read the manga, and it's been a while since I watched the anime. I just remember it being completely depressing, her waiting around for rockstar-Nana to come back and pluck her out of the shitty position she finds herself in.

And it only gets more depressing. It is a really good series, though. One of the few shojo manga I've ever read where the characters are mostly realistic and the plot isn't totally predictable and full of cliches.

I love Death Note, the Miyazaki's, Vampire Hunter D & Bloodlust and Grave of the Fireflies. I'm painfully predictable.
Also got into Blood Trinity and Jigoku Shoujo last year. Shameful, but extremely enjoyable.

My taste in anime is absolutely despicable. I read the Twilight of mangas. ALL Shoujo, ALL the time.
Actually, I haven't picked up a manga in quite a few years, but that's what I frequented in my youth.

Is anyone else concerned by the fact that a bunch of Hollywood Studios have decided to remake Cowboy Bebop, Akira, Ghost in the Shell and probably a whole horde of others in live action for western audiences? So far the only thing I know for sure about any of those is that Keanu Reeves has been cast as Spike, and I can't see that being a good thing.
And apparently all three of those are scheduled for release in 2011.

I've sort of been blocking out that knowledge and hoping that all the funding falls through. All of it.

My fear is that someone like Megan Fox will be cast as the Major in GITS.
I'm currently working on pulling my friends to see Ponyo with me, it looks incredibly cute. One thing I like about Studio Gibli is the quality of the voice actors they have in the English versions.

Yeah, I haven't been paying much attention on what's going on with that, so I dunno. All I know is I still have to watch both Cowboy Beebop and Akira asap. Hopefully Netflix can ship them to me soon. Especially Akira.

Here's another rule for anime: Don't watch Grave of the Fireflies unless you want to cry for fucking days. one of the most upsetting films I have ever seen. I never want to watch it again. Horriffic Fact: The book that film was based on was semi-autobiographical. it was written by a man who, in his childhood, had seen his sister starve to death and was unable to help her. fuck.
