I hope he appreciated your enthusiasm !
I was supposed to see Blind Guardian recently. But I had flu and spent the night blowing my nose and coughing.

I have a confession to make; I never listened to Sunn O))) until about 10 minutes ago when I youtubed a song off Black One. This is one of the most frightening songs I've heard but I think it's because I'm listening to it in a dark room with nothing else going on. Good shit either way. Not sure why I put off listening to them for so long, haha.

I usually play Sunn on a stereo nearby when I'm giving out candy on Halloween.

See, that's what I thought it sounded like. Music that sounds like it should be playing in the background of a horror movie. I can't wait to listen to more.

Nick, do you know of any good (or just any) Appalachian BM bands?

There's a (one man) band called Appalachian Winter, he's from the area around Pennsylvania. Pretty cool.

This is like, three weeks too late, but check out Falls of Rauros. www.last.fm/music/Falls%2520of%2520Rauros?ac=falls%20of%20rAnd also their connected artists, not all Appalachian, but there's some amazing stuff in there. Skagos, Panopticon, Velnias, Ash Borer - all particular faves of mine and excellent to boot.

Found out that I would be missing that after I left for college. Agalloch are also playing at Sonar within the next month. So are Eyehategod and Cough. Fuck.

I know. Pretty awesome. Finntroll is playing at Jaxx on March 1st. My fucking wallet. Also, my dear friend and ex recently started an epic, goth girl metal band. They just had there first real gig at Jaxx and opened for Dying Fetus. Unsurprisingly, they didn't get the greatest reaction with that kind of crowd. She has some serious ovaries though for playing for that crowd.

Hmm. Not sure why I thought that. I was listening to Amplifier Worship last night and thought to myself "Hey, if these dudes did a collab with Neurosis then that would be awesome!"
Also, the new album took me by surprise to say the least but I think I like it.

If you like Austere then by association you will like Woods of Desolation. And also this band that are just coming out of england, Somne. Everyone enjoys despair right ?

Just listened to the Woods of Desolation tracks that were on your fb, Cheryl. Epic. I'll be working my way back through this thread now.
Also I was just thinking to myself "It's weird, I never find music that really frightens me."
I'm listening to Beyond... by Somne right now and it is actually pretty unsettling. Awesome.

I thought it was alright aside from the random, stupid cartoony parts they threw in. I've been revisiting them the past couple of days.

So I'm trying out for this death metal band on Sunday who sing about Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Lovecraft. Fuck yeah.
