The finale wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. The different candidate interviews had their funny moments (James Spader was wonderfully creepy), but it got kind of old after a while. It was almost meta when Jim said "they're all starting to blend together." Gabe's meltdown was funny as hell, though, and I liked Pam's attempts to prevent Creed from destroying the company, haha. Also, this was Ryan's best episode in a long time. The cliffhanger was a cheap way to drum up intrigue over the summer, especially when you consider that we'll almost certainly find out who the new boss is before the fall. Catherine Tate's character is supposedly the front-runner, and I would say Darryl is the second most likely pick.

Toby looks like he's withering away to nothing.

James Spader was almost perfect, until he finished off his speech about how selling everything is the same with relating it to sex. He almost nailed the ultimate douchebag sales speech that is super common "I'm selling a concept/myself" - the only way he could have been better would be to pull a "I get people" with a smug, knowing nod. If he were to get the job, I'd be 100% committed to continuing watching this show.
That being said, I liked the finale well enough. Probably better than any episode since the warehouse sale.
"Question one: ever shot a gun in the office?"
Any yeah, it looks like Toby is sick or something.

Thoughts on the new season? Wasn't stoked about the new manager at first, but judging from the endings of the past two eps, I like where they're taking it. It's gaining a little heart. The first ep was hilarious, thursday's wasn't that funny, but I enjoyed it.
Although, did anyone else find the vibrator as a desperate attempt at a laugh?

Okay I missed like.. all of the last season so I came in not knowing much (I really need to catch up ) but I didn't like Andy getting the job at first but I am totally on board now. The Nard Dog tat omg hahahhahah. Creepy boss guy is really funny I really like him, hahahha.

I just can't watch James Spader in a boss-like capacity without having serious Secretary flashbacks.
I loved the Nard Dog tat. I'm actually kind of liking Andy as the boss.

I was skeptical about Spader at first, but so far I like the character, as long as they don't overuse him. I like that he's odd, but also logical and competent. I wouldn't have liked it if they'd brought in a wacky Michael Scott clone.
I'm not quite 100% on Andy as the new boss, but I liked the last episode a lot. He's going to need to get more confidence and grow as a character; if he stays the same Andy in perpetuity, it won't be very interesting.
It's obvious for practical reasons why they wrote Jenna Fischer's pregnancy into the show, but I'm sad that she probably won't be given much to do in the near future.

I know it's only two episodes, but that seems to be the angle they're going for this season. Having it be about Andy growing as a person and a leader. I'll enjoy it if they keep heading in that direction and keep throwing in endings that tug at my heartstrings.

I know I've said it before, but at this point, Andy as the new boss is the only thing that makes sense to me.
Saw previews for the new ep. The warehouse has won the lottery and the office people are filling in? Yikes. Out of ideas already, guys?

Yeah, I like that Andy got chosen for new boss. I also like that Jim's keeping his role as supportive offsider. And I'm loving the Pam vs Angela pregnancy.
John Krasinski's directing the next ep, so that should be interesting. And I bet the entire warehouse is back by the end of the episode when they realise they've only won like division 4 and have $20 each.

The episode was way better than "office workers try to do warehouse stuff and hijinks ensue," because they kept that on the sideline. The stuff with Andy and Darryl was great. I've always liked that combo.

It's obvious for practical reasons why they wrote Jenna Fischer's pregnancy into the show, but I'm sad that she probably won't be given much to do in the near future. Pam is such a bummer now, they really couldn't do anything else with her but make her into a crying pregnant lady? And when she said she "used to do those cartoons," so sad . I always wished they would have made her become an art teacher or something.

Oh god, this episode blows. Pam and Angela feuding because they picked the same name for their kids? Really?
Also, the "dueling toasts" thing kind of feels played out after seeing Bridesmaids, haha.

I think them forcing Andy's character development is totally sharking the series. Aren't these things supposed to happen organically in the plot? An entire episode dedicated to the concept of WASPy parents being disapproving?
It also makes me miss Andy's anger problem.

Dude whatever I laughed a lot. Also I love Josh Groban.
But goddamn it I knew I would forget what made me laugh the hardest. Other than Groban calling Jim and Phyllis 'Tuna and Pam' hahahhah.

I think my favorite parts were Erin getting her hat stolen, and Darryl and Oscar debating Citizen Kane.
Otherwise pretty lame episode.

The look on Jim's face when Meredith said his name during the story jesus christ.
Also Kevin freaking out when he realized mummies were real.

I'm feel you, I feel so bad for her on a regular basis. I hope they sort of.. grow her up a little, so she gets less hurt, you know? Stands up for herself a bit more?

Man, this show is really done. I can't imagine it going on another season. Last night's episode was painful to watch. And WTF happened to 30 Rock? They bumped it to mid-season cause Tina Fey is pregnant. The Office just really needs to go sideways. Something totally unexpected. It just got so boring. I like it because its kind of comforting and reminds me of college, but it doesn't feel spontaneous anymore. Which is totally it's most authentic thing. Work is so weird.

Oh for fuck's sake. Gee, will Jim be tempted by the woman who's had five minutes of total screen time, or will he stick with his wife and mother of his children who he's been completely in love with for 6+ seasons? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME
