It's spring training time which means it's time to talk baseball again. I'm pretty stoked to watch the season this year even if I can't watch a lot of O's games at school without streaming them. We've got MLB Network so I can see a whole bunch of other games instead, haha.
Anyway, let's hear your thoughts/predictions for your teams.
Also, I'm thinking about starting a fantasy baseball league on here and the OMB. Anyone down?

It'd be nice to cut my teeth on that with people I know.
This year is gonna be insane. I think the Red Sox look really good this year. I also think that they're not unbeatable.
I'd like to see the Nationals beat some ass this year.

Yeah, I think the Red Sox are most people's pick to win the AL since they added Crawford and A-Gon now. I kind of hope they disappoint, though but that's just the Orioles fan in me talking. If Beckett has a bounce-back year then they might have the best pitching in the division. It's between them and the Rays.
I'd have more confidence in the Nats if their pitching was better. Livan, Marquis are their top 2 starters. Ouch. I'm stoked to see Jordan Zimmermann though.
I'm think most people have the Brewers as their "surprise" team even though they have Greinke and Marcum now, haha.

I think I could be down for some fantasy baseball. Of the major sports, its the one I'm least intimate with, but my pops runs multiple leagues and is always poking me to hop on board. This would be a good place to get my feet wet before joining his massive money leagues. Should I still be first picking Albert Pujols?

Ha, how can most people have a team as a "surprise" team? That wouldn't be a surprise.
Isn't Chien-Ming Wang the 3rd starter? Hahahaha. Best rotation of 2004 ever!
I'm only rooting for Red Sox to lose because I'm super bitter about Crawford.

It's like how the Mariners were the sexy pick last year because of Lee and Figgins. A lot of hype in the pre-season but I think the Brewers might actually deliver. Still think the Reds hitting is just as good, if not better.
Wang hasn't been healthy since he signed with them, haha. I think he's going to enter the season on the DL.
I really want to see some team come out of nowhere this season.

Haha, To be fair, Wang was injured when they signed him.
Mariners really fucked up last year. They were the AL West favorite to being '10. Speaking of, I was listening to the Rays/Twins game and apparently Kotchman is on the Rays now.
I think the A's could possibly come out of nowhere this year. We'll see. They had a strong 2nd half last year. They lost Cust and signed Matsui, so basically they're playing with the same team.
I'm pretty excited to watch Vlad play with the O's. I'll let you know how that goes since you can't ever watch them.

Ha, I will be able to watch the O's when I'm home for the summer. I'm sure I'll stream games when I'm at school too since it's what I do with the Caps. I wasn't too thrilled about the Vlad signing since we're giving him $7 mil to be a DH and it makes Luke Scott go to the field which makes our defense worse. If he hits like he did last year, then it's not that bad of a deal. We definitely have a lot of firepower in the lineup though. Gonna be lots of home runs at Camden Yards this year as well as a lot of strike outs.
I've always liked the A's pitching and they also got Josh Willingham. Them winning the West isn't out of the question if their lineup can produce more runs than they're expected to.
I'm actually watching the Angels right now, haha.

My internet connection at work is terrible or I'd be watching/listening to the game too.
A's pitching is always great. I remember that year they had like fucking Zito, Blanton, Haren, Harden, Street, and Duchscherer. Fuck. And then they traded pretty much all of them. Fuck you, Billy Beane. You had a dynasty of a rotation.
We went to a couple Angels vs A's games that year and the A's killed them. Fuck. Swisher, Kotsay, Scutaro, Bradley. All those dudes were Angel killers.
Their current roster has a lot of sleepers on it. Like you said, if the offense can produce, they're set.
All I know is that I'm gonna be so fucking pissed if the Angels' offense is as shitty this year as it was last year.

This is gonna be a really interesting year for team owners, since two are in deep debt trouble.
Additionally, fuck Corey and his fucking giants av.

I'm calling it: this year is the year that I get into baseball. I've always hated it. But this year. This is the year. I'm feeling it. Gonna get some Ducks games in, some Eugene minor league in, some Orioles games in when I'm back in Baltimore this summer... yeah. Baseball.
Edit: Okay, I don't hate it. I love going to games, I just have no interest in following the league or watching it on TV. THAT'S what's going to change.

I'm not familiar enough with baseball to talk about it at any kind of length, but I'm a pretty big Jays fan and I'm hoping to get more games in this year than ever before.

Sweet. Just need at least 4 more people and we should be good t go. Who else wants in? We're all just doing this for fun so you don't have to know a lot about baseball to play.
Did a preview of the AL on my radio show. This are my predictions
East 1. Red Sox 2. Yankees 3. Rays 4. Orioles 5. Blue Jays
Central 1. Twins 2. Tigers 3. White Sox 4. Indians 5. Royals
West 1. A's 2. Rangers 3. Angels 4. Mariners
Yes, the O's finishing 4th is a homer pick.

Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in!
Goddamn Astros.
I think baseball and European football, probably because neither have a salary cap, are the only two sports I can think of where what I enjoy most is watching a team of young guys come together and overachieve.
Even with our best young prospect blowing out his knee (no, Castro!) the guys no one has ever heard of on the Astros have had an exciting spring training. Brett Meyers FTW!
I guess what I'm saying, is I'll be happier with a 76-86 record than I was last year. Also I hope Lance Berkman finishes blowing out his knees because I hate the Cardinals, and am sad to see them there.

Draft day's Thursday for the people in the fantasy league. We've got enough to do a roto style league but new people are still welcome to join.

Go go 6 man drafts! This team looks absurd, especially for someone that missed the draft (this week kinda fell apart... oh well). As someone that isn't the biggest fan, I'm glad I know most of the names on my team.

Check the fantasy page. Since you weren't there, the system auto-picked for you.
