This episode was so golden. I feel dumb for disliking the characters last season (in this thread?), when the show has clearly turned that and made it a pretty solid running joke.

Yeah. It's dropped a tiny bit on TV by the Numbers, which sucks. I'm beginning to like Parks and Rec a lot more.

Definitely would suck to lose this show.
In general I hate all the negative press about NBC ratings being so bad because most of the shows I watch are on NBC. I get they have to be a business and all, but I don't want NBC to be another CBS and have mountains of terrible, unwatchable shows. Shouldn't there be a channel for me?! (Besides FX ... :-( )

Yeah NBC always cancels decent shows with poor ratings to introduce terrible shows with worse ratings that don't even last a season (looking at you, whitney). Duuumb.

This was one of the better Annie-centric episodes in a while, but she's still a lot of wasted potential. I don't think it's Alison Brie's fault; I feel like they know how they want to write for her, but just can't get it right.

NBC said that Community will not be in the mid-season lineup...but will return at some point in the season. Sounds like it's the beginning of the end.

Don't think it'll make it to season 4. This show is the new Arrested Development.

I don't know if I'm that bothered to be honest. Season 2 was fucking terrible compared to 1 and while this year has picked up a bit I don't know how long it can be sustained. And how long were they expecting the show to last anyway you know? American college is four years right? So at the end of next season they would've had to decide if they were going to end it there or keep it going at the expense of character integrity or whatever.

Emma, I agree somewhat on the Season 2 v. Season 1. I'm pretty sure Harmon's plan was just to go to 4 seasons anyway, but the difference is they're at community college so they could technically just take 1 class together and go on with their lives and still have the show.
tl;dr: rambling.

Season 2 has some of the best episodes ever, and a few really average ones (though I came around on a few of those after seeing them again on the DVD).

I'm with Emma. I've really enjoyed this show but at the same time I just don't feel sad about the news. The last season's been so hit or miss and some of the characters are too inconsistent.

Emma, community college is generally 1-2 years to obtain an associate degree. However, the joke is that people who do go to community college don't ever go for that short of time. So, basically, the show could last forever.

It wasn't perfect, but I'm still bummed it's being canceled because now I have a 7-7:30 hole in my boring sit, watch tv and eat Thursday night.
It was nice to have an entire night of TV to watch. I was hoping Whitney would get bumped to the new night, they'd plug 30 Rock into that spot and I literally would not change a channel between 7 and 10. That scenario is also ruined by Prime Suspect getting scrapped. Bummer.

IS PRIME SUSPECT GETTING CANCELLED?
THE FUCK?
It's the best new crime drama in years, it's awesome. I can't believe this shit.

Yeah, can't say I'm too broken up about the news. I stopped watching after the Christmas episode for the most part. I've tried to watch one or two more episodes and it's just kinda bad now.

haha, well I guess I'm the only one who cares. maybe I'll change my mind when I watch season 3. has anyone been keeping up with it? I watched the video game one from this week (which is the only season 3 ep. I've watched) and I thought it was a ton of fun
oh well, at least network TV still has Parks and Recreation

The video game episode was amazing. "...I guess there's no hug button."
This will be a completely different show without Harmon. If this was their plan all along, they should have just pulled the plug completely.

I've seen every episode this season and I still love it. It's gotten a lot darker and less smarmy this season which is probably offputting in some way, but now is the winter of our Community right? Half of the season was written while everyone on the show didn't know they were going to have a job in a few months. Harmon going is pretty terrible, because he really makes the show, for better or for worse. The positives from it are a) maybe the episodes will have less of a sitcom formula, which makes me crazy when it's overt enough to pick up, and as an extension of that b) fewer Winger speeches. Most likely it's just gonna get worse though.

I feel that, at this point, the Winger speeches have crossed the line into "running gag" more than anything, so I don't mind it.

Nick, that is how I feel about Jeff's speeches.
I'm really not looking forward to next season. Knowing that there are more than likely just 13 more episodes left is pretty shitty, especially without Harmon.

This season has been pretty terrible; most of the episodes are so completely detached from anything related to college that it's really just a series of random stuff with characters that have become parodies of themselves. Jeff's speeches fit right in because every character is a running gag at this point. There really isn't anything left to relate to, it's like watching a live action cartoon.
They've had way too many theme episodes and rehashes of previous episodes, which makes it seem like they've been out of ideas for a while and are now just redoing stuff people liked the first time around. For a show that's only three seasons, having 3 paintball episodes, at least 3 faux documentaries, 3 pillow fort episodes, and 2 cop movie parodies is pretty ridiculous.
I don't know much about how the show is made, but I'm hoping Dan Harmon is the reason it's gotten so far up its own ass and with him gone they can get it grounded.
I did like this week's video game episode though, but it seemed really out of place considering Pierces father has been dead a while and they were right in the middle of their conspiracy nonsense. No idea why they aired that one now, but at least it was a solid episode.
