I may need to stay away from Tumblr for the next couple of days, I already stumbled across one person who posted a review full of spoilers.

I managed to get a midnight ticket, which I am very stoked about, since I've never been to a midnight premiere. I'm going by myself though, which kinda sucks, but oh well whatever.
I know I'm going to end up sobbing by myself. Hahah.

Just got back from seeing this. I dug it! This post turned out longer than I anticipated and is spoiler heavy, so: I really loved how Snape's memories came out, and I thought Daniel Radcliffe did a really great job. When he finds out he's the horcrux his face was just so... I dunno. Perfectly shellshocked without being blank.
I really loved how they did the Hermione and Ron kiss. It was adorably spontaneous and not too sappy and cliched. And I love that as soon as they'd kissed there was no awkwardness. And Ron running after Malfoy and co calling her his girlfriend was p. cute. I missed seeing Fred die (and the twins in general) but the moment when Ron sees Fred cut me up. I thought it could have been bigger, especially for Molly, but for what it was it was fine.
I thought Ron and Harry were strangely cold toward each other in this film. There were a few times when it seemed like they should have had a moment, but didn't. Especially when Hermione hugs Harry before he goes to die. I wanted Ron to protest or something considering he'd just lost his brother, but I guess they went down the road of Ron being too tired after losing his brother and wanting the battle to end. But dude, he and Harry have been besties for seven years. I just wanted more from them. Harry and Hermione was lovely.
And I didn't feel that Molly's 'not my daughter, you bitch' moment was earned at all. I wanted to see her desperate and terrified at the thought of losing another family member, and I didn't want Bellatrix's death to be almost funny. And Harry and Ginny just gets more and more ridiculous with each film. It just seems so weird to me that they end up together after so little contact in the film, no chemistry and no real interest in each other when they're offscreen. So awkward.
Missed more of Tonks and Remus, but they got kind of stooged in the book too.
And oh my GOD the 19 years later. The moment with Harry and Albus (sigh) was adorable, but they all STILL LOOKED like teenagers/early 20's only with shitty hair. Which is funny, considering James and Lily died when they were 21 and look like they're in their late thirties. Was cute, though.
Oh, and SUPER YAY Neville! Badass. I love him, and the scene with Luna at the end was super cute. And Maggie Smith you are my hero. She looked like she was having so much fun. So in conclusion, yay. Some complaints, but all up yay. Seeing it again this week with my Mum.

CeiI agree that the Ron/Hermione kiss was incredibly adorable and throws into shock how uninteresting the movies have made Harry/Ginny. I felt that Ron and Hermione were both a bit starless in the film; that is, the movie played so much on Harry and his end that his best friends felt less and less like featured costars. They could have been Neville and Luna and I wouldn't have noticed a difference. I suppose it was an intentional move, and its difficult not to focus so strongly on Harry given these circumstances, but I feel that they lacked an importance, emotionally. That's just how I felt watching it.
Molly sooooooo didn't earn that. I'm glad someone else noticed; the entire crowd cheered madly, and I was all "Really? This moment doesn't seem legit at all!"
Though I like much of Neville's speech, I didn't like the name dropping. Why would he mention Tonks over, say, one of his classmates? Its a device they threw in to make us remember her, something they could have done better by showing her more than once. It felt very cheap. Otherwise, Neville was definitely one of the best parts of the film, and I love so hard how well Matthew Lewis has grown up in the role.
I thought the epilogue was better here than in the book, but agree how absurd the way most of them look was. Maybe different actors would have served better. And OMG, Ginny's hair... is she the queen mum? lol Other things I liked: - Gringotts train-ride was thrilling and incredibly shot, one of the best visuals from the series. - Most of the battle was the same, being cinematic beyond belief and utilizing visuals to tell the story quite well. - Snape's death! OMFG, so brutal! It actually made me wince and totally shocked me how vicious they made it, but it really added to the dread feel going on. Other things I disliked: These lists are unfairly lop-sided this way. I liked the film much more than they suggest.
- Snape. I swear, with every god-damn movie, he speaks slower and slower. I get it! You're trying to be dramatic! I don't know whether to blame Alan Rickman or David Yates (when he started directing, I started noticing this trend). It makes everything he does way over-pronounced. - I enjoyed much of the pensieve scenes, I really did. I felt there wasn't enough explanation, though. Its tough to judge, knowing it all already, so this is a passive judgment that I'd like to bounce off a HP newbie at some time. - Speaking of the pensieve, there was a ton of exposition in this film. One of my least favorite scenes was with the Gray Lady. So much of that conversation just seemed pointless, as Harry begs over and over for the needed info. Its one of those things that I feel works in the books, but needed to be much shorter here. - Most of the fight scene with Voldemort after Harry fake dies was drawn out in unsatisfactory ways. I knew going in they'd change it from the book, and I was fine with that (the screen doesn't want a single speech + spell victory), but it seemed like Voldemort wasn't even trying at points. And when his robes start attacking Harry... horrible, horrible idea, sooooooooo cheesy. Funniest moments: Some of these quotes will inevitably be off...
"I've always wanted to use that spell!" - Professor McGonagall
Filch sweeping up rubble after the castle has been blown to smithereens.
Voldemort's hug with Draco! lmao, father figure? hahahaha
"I should tell Luna I like her. I always have! Better tell her now... we both might be dead before morning." - Neville Longbottom
Hermione as Bellatrix was really awkward at times, but hilarious at others. Considering that Helena Bonham Carter's acting is some of my least favorite in this series (which is crazy, since she's such a good actress), she really pulled this part off well.
Neville taunting the snatchers through the protective bubble.
Ron: I'm only her brother, and she acts like I'm not even here! Seamus: She's got load of them, but only one Harry. Overall, I think this was a good, not great, addition to the HP catalog, and despite the moderately-above-average rating I give it, will probably see it at least twice more in theaters. As far as book adherence goes, much of what they changed made sense, most of what they left out were probably good choices, and the story feels complete enough otherwise. 7.5/10

Saw it last night but didn't get to do a write up and fell asleep instead, so here's my thoughts... 1) Snape's death scene - So well done. I love the change to the boathouse, way more intimate, I think. His wringing his hands was the only real tell that he felt something was going to happen. I felt that seeing/hearing his death from outside the boathouse was much more frightening?, maybe... but fitting for the scene. His memories, his tale was amazing, they did such an amazing job and Alan Rickman is such an amazing actor, the whole apprehensive walkthrough in the Potter house and his sobbing over Lily's body hit me like a freaking freight train. 2) "Not my daughter, you bitch" - Loved it. The low tone with all the anger Molly felt was better I think than the screaming she did in the book. 3) R/HR kiss - I have to admit I'm more of an H/Hr shipper than R/HR but that kiss was awesome and they just looked at each other after like " " 4) Harry's "Death" - I actually liked that he told Ron and Hermione what he was going to do and I know that it's a change from the book where he just leaves without talking to anybody. The scene where he talks to his parents, Sirius, and Remus was beautifully sad. Radcliffe really is the perfect actor for Harry. 5) Neville is a BAMF....and totally belongs with Luna. That is all I'm sure there is more to write about, but I'm seeing it again tonight so I'll probably write more. Also seeing how this is a Harry Potter thread, I'm posting my new tattoo in here since it's HP related.

Ahhhhhhh it was so good! The theater we went to for the midnight showing was huuuuuge and way packed. Like it was like watching it in a sports auditorium and the whole crowd cheered and clapped and aww'd and everything at all the right moments and it was just so so so fun.
save for this group of bros that sat right in front of us?! BROS WHY ARE YOU HERE. they were like "yeah I didn't read the books lol" and one kept putting his arms in the air to like stretch and it was just like omfg get out of here bro what are you doing.
but no I cried and it was seriously so well done, like, all the hogwarts stuff. Ahhh am I sad. How is it all over so quickly?!

Just got back from seeing it. The projector actually fucked up right during the Snape memory sequence and I think I missed stuff. Particular likes: - Aberforth. From certain angles he looked SO MUCH like Albus. It was great. Exactly what I was hoping for.
- The dragon! I was hoping they'd try to create some sympathy for the poor thing, and it came off so perfectly. I was sooo happy when it flew off after they dropped from it. I wanted to cheer for the dragon.
- Neville was awesome. Always.
- Ron/Hermione kiss was perfect. I also liked that they actually showed the scene of them destroying the horcrux.
- Snape's memories, from what I got of it, were so good. Him in the house with Lilly was kind of creepy, but perfect.
- When Harry went to die. Oh man. Broke my heart. Talking to his mom and dad, Sirius, and Remus. So good in the books, so well done in the movie.
- The 19 Years Later scene was so much better in the movie than the books, honestly. Just did nothing for me in the books, but it was touching in the movie. (Despite the fact that it looked like children playing dress-up. They just look way too young. There's no helping that.)
- Ron in the bank scene. The long hair and beard. Seriously seriously good look for you, dude.
Particular dislikes: - It felt so rushed at first, then once Harry "died" it felt so drawn out.
- The Gray Lady scene. The whole thing. Could've been done wayyyy better. I understand the shortening of it, and I liked Luna helping with it, but it just felt so forced and obviously "we have to explain this to you, because we can't explain the whole Bloody Baron thing right now."
- Denying Neville that awesomely heroic/badass scene of him cutting off the snake's head on the first try, in front of EVERYONE. Instead, he has to try a second time, making it seem way less cool.
- The whole Voldemort/Harry fight. Ugh. Awful. Drawn out. I understand from a cinematic point of view, you sort of want something flashy, but the beauty of that final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort was Harry knowing. His taunting. It was so incredibly earned, especially to see Voldemort, that heartless asshole, get treated like he treated everyone else. It sucks that the characters were denied that. Instead they got robe-stranglings and ectoplasm shooting from wands (phallic much?) at each other.
- NOT ENOUGH HAGRID!
I'll probably think of more once I post this. All in all, really enjoyed the movie despite its faults. Definitely going to see it again.

It was such a great film, though there were some downfalls. I really only have one thing to say that hasn't been said It KILLED me watching Hagrid carry Harry's "lifeless" body. I can only imagine what Hagrid felt during that time. Hagrid was such an important part in Harry's life. He brought him to Privet Drive, was the one to tell him that he was a wizard. It just hurt my heart a lot.

I cried at Snape's memory of holding Lily's body. I don't know why, I think it was because he was always so stoney faced and then it was just real grief and emotion.
I didn't like it when Dumbledore's brother said "he sacrificed loads, including her" or something, but then didn't explain ANYTHING. Wasn't there loads about his history with all the historical people?! It was alright, but I'm not that attached to the films. I liked the books, but the films were always "meh". Funny Rupert Grint fact that I have probably already said: our schools were next door to each other, I had the same German teacher and I saw him in the town once. DURING SCHOOL HOURS. I told him to be at school but he gave no fucks.

Unless I missed it, the one part, THE ONE PART, I really wanted to see was McGonagall leading a charge of rampaging desks into battle.
I feel deprived.
I think it'll take me a couple more viewings before I can decide if I like it, or just like it because I love Harry Potter and I knew I'd like it unless they flat out ruined it (which of course they didn't). Things I liked: -The visual/visceral moment when the barrier starts to fall apart. -The look Molly gave McGonagall when she nearly giggles at how excited she was to do the spell that made all the stone suits of armor come to life -Neville. Even compared with all the heroics and deserved badassery, my favorite part was still him asking McGonagall if he could really blow the bridge. -The whole Resurrection Stone part had me sobbing. So good. So completely what I had wanted. When Harry asks about dying, and Sirius's answer? Just holy hell tragic. -The teeny tiny moment with Fred and George was so sweet.
Things I was less fond of: -The pacing felt off somehow. Not bad, but the tension in the film was more from what I was bringing to the movie based on what I knew should be coming, and less always from the movie itself. -It's kind of a complaint of the whole series, but so much of what I always felt was important to the exposition (like for instance who made the Marauders Map for crying out loud!) is never worked in, which makes the story so much less rich than it is in the books. -Like other people have said, the connection between Harry, Ron, and Hermione didn't feel like it was there. Even when they were sharing screen time, it felt like there was distance. I don't know if that was on purpose, to play it visually that this last part was about how Harry was connected to Voldemort, but eh. I don't know. -The emotional heart seemed to be missing in a lot of it. Like here's this story in which absolutely everything is at stake, and too much of it felt empty. The desperation and the fight felt like it was there to me in Part 1. Here, it just felt lacking. -Hermione was pretty much reduced to nothing but a girl who likes this boy. Like in the first movie when Hermione puts the spell on her parents...so gut wrenching and so very much within her character. She spent way too much of the movie seeming to be shocked that Ron knew spells at all. That was kind of in the book, but there, it was more about her finally coming to appreciate who had been in front of her the whole time. This was her just being all "look surprised and shocked!" -The teeny tiny moment with Fred and George wasn't enough. Not nearly enough.
Things that just sort of occurred to me: -Most of the whole Snape backstory had been creepy and stalkery to me. Like whatever '"redemption" he gained was false, because he was still ultimately selfish in his "love" of Lily. The movie made it feel a lot less so, which didn't really bother me. It was just more of a "huh, so that's the direction they went with it." -I thought it was an interesting touch that when Tonks and Remus were about to start the battle, they reach for each other, but don't wuite make it. And when they are shown on the stretchers, they still aren't touching. I'm not sure what the commentary is there, but it was such a sad moment.
So honestly, it's a lot like all the other movies. It isn't always exactly what I wanted, but it was still really really good. The books will ALWAYS be better, but the movies are at least good complements to the books, which is often more than I can say about most book adaptations.

Ugh... now that you mention it, I'm so sad it wasn't there! Maybe they thought it too comical? Things that just sort of occurred to me: -I thought it was an interesting touch that when Tonks and Remus were about to start the battle, they reach for each other, but don't wuite make it. And when they are shown on the stretchers, they still aren't touching. I'm not sure what the commentary is there, but it was such a sad moment.
I thought this was a great touch, and then I realized that these two scenes are the only ones we get of Tonks. I know there's a ton to cram in there, but across these two last films, they play at that relationship with her and Remus, but never say anything about it. In the last film we got that awkward moment where she was about to tell Harry, and in this one, pretty much nothing. And then Harry makes that comment to Remus at the end about his kid, which we simply haven't heard about at all in the film. Why even add that line, then?
I accept that Tonks is minor in the scope of things, but if you're gonna go far enough to give her the short scenes, take a moment to solidify why she and Remus are close at all.

Yeah, it seems so weird that Neville would mention Tonks, who I'm not sure he ever really met, over Lavender Brown. Also peeved we didn't see any real reaction from Ron on that front. She was your first snog, and you've known her for how many years? LOOK SAD!

wait did lavender die in the movie? she looked pretty fucking dead after hermione blasted greyback off of her and it looked like professor trelawney was covering her up with parvati in the great hall, but it was kind of vague as to whether she lived or not in the book.

I can't remember what happened to her in the book but in the movie I think she definitely died. I was sad. Lavender was such a champ.
Come to think of it, I feel like Neville or someone should have given Cedric Diggory a mention too.
