Every day. I mean, I sell books for a living, so I think about it a lot. But I love that! Movie covers are hardly ever my favorites.

They did for I think 6 and 7, trade paperback versions. But I do love that the artwork has been relatively un-fucked with. I feel like such a poser when I'm reading a book with a movie cover.

I'm watching the first film now that I've read the books, and I just wanted to say that Knowing now why Snape does pretty much every single thing he does, even in the early books, makes the Harry Potter series completely fucking heartbreaking at almost every turn. Otherwise the film is excellent so far!

I was just looking up the adult Harry Potter covers and discovered that they released loads of different book covers in different countries. The Swedish ones are awesome. Link with all the different covers is here: harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Cover_art - it's really cool!

The First cover of the Danish Half-blood Prince is legitimately frightening.

GUYS I'M SO EXCITED
So I've never watched any of the Harry Potter films, because I wanted to wait until I finished all the books, and I had a huge 3 or 4-year reading gap so I was really behind. Anyway I finished Deathly Hallows so Robert and I sat down to watch the first film last night. Robert's never read the books because he's dyslexic, but he LOVED the film, like so much that he wants to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and we've only watched the Philosopher's Stone!
I'm so excited to watch him discover the Harry Potter universe, he's going to love it so much. I loved the film, more than I do a lot of big screen adaptations, and I'm expecting good things from the rest of the series!

As someone who complains a ton about the films, they really are rather wonderful. I hope you two enjoy the adventure!

Those Dutch covers are pretty awesome. I wouldn't mind reading the series again. It's been a few years.

Yeah, I think I liked the audio books better than watching the movies, even. But I'm a weirdo who really enjoys being read to, so. . .

Siobhan, you should look into the audio books for robert! they're really wonderful. I want to! I approached the subject with him and he was like "burrr i don't want to sit around and listen to books" but I think I might get them to have something to listen to in the car! He's only read two books in his entire life, and I think because he feels like it's this world he's not a part of or can't get into, he doesn't really see the point? He's started to pick up my science fiction books though, which is nice

Does he know they're read by Stephen Fry? Because that might help.

No, I'll tell him that! We watched Prisoner of Azkaban last night and I spent half an hour afterwards talking about the stuff they missed out (I can't help myself) and he was saying the more he enjoyed the series the more he wanted to listen to the books to get the full story. I hope so, I really want to hear them too!

Does he know they're read by Stephen Fry? Because that might help. mine were all jim dale but i guess it makes sense that more than one person would do them. siobhan i get that he's apprehensive b/c audio books are kind of a weird concept to some people but they're reaaaally good. he could just have them for driving or trying to go to sleep or something.

My friend doesn't drive, so he listened to all of the Stephen Fry ones while he was walking or cycling everywhere. He said they were brilliant - Fry does all the voices really well apparently.
And now the same friend's just finished all the Song of Ice And Fire audio books. He let me listen to a bit and it's read by a really old dude which makes all the sex so much more awkward.
