I don't care what anyone says, I cannot fucking wait for this movie.

This gets better and better with each ad I see. I hate how excited ads make me. I feel like I'm destined to be let down.

Seriously, Gaby. I don't know how anyone could watch the Hit Girl red band trailer and not want to see this movie.
Why yes, little kids saying incredibly vulgar things IS still amusing to me.

The comic is dumb, but this looks quite funny.

This doesn't really look funny at all, but Nicolas Cage comes close.

I just got back from seeing it. As outstanding as it was, if they'd removed every other character and made it into "Hit Girl Kills Everyone," it would be the greatest movie ever made. Chloe Moretz fucking OWNED that role. That kid is going places. I'll have more thoughts later, I have to be up for work in 5 1/2 hours, haha.

I haven't seen it but I am in love with the idea of a foul-mouthed ass kicking little girl.

Ok, some more thoughts (I'll avoid outright spoilers, but there's some hinting):
-The cinematography is really excellent. There's a cool comic book motif (that they inexplicably drop about halfway through the movie), and there's a scene involving night vision goggles and a strobe light that easily one of the coolest-looking fight scenes I've ever seen. -Nic Cage is only in a supporting role, but he's fantastic. -The music is awesome, especially during Hit Girl's scenes. One of her entrances is marked by some Ennio Morricone (so perfect), and two of the fights scenes are set to The Dickies' "Banana Splits Theme" and Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation." Flawless choices. -Kick-Ass's story is very realistic and plausible for the most part, which I think is part of the appeal. The brutal end to his first attempt at crime-fighting has actual consequences, which you don't see often in movies like this. -Speaking of which, I loved the contrast between Kick-Ass and his awkward and blundering (but passionate) fighting and Hit Girl/Big Daddy, who are finely-tuned meat grinders.
The only bad thing is that a lot of the cool scenes are in the trailers (mostly the red-band ones), but there were still a lot of surprises. There is one in the climax that I won't reveal, but I absolutely didn't see it coming, and it was amazing. Trust me, you will SHIT BRICKS.
Finally: what else can I say about Hit Girl? I mean really. Fucking fantastic, the highlight of the movie, no question.

GOING THIS WEEKEND! When I posted this thread, I thought it'd be out in mere weeks, despite the ads giving the dates. I've been so anxious.

I've been so anxious, too. And I've been waiting for 6+ months for this movie. Haha. I'm definitely going just to see Hit Girl, though.

Quite. Severed limbs, headshots, stabbings, etc. The beatings that Kick-Ass absorbs are horrendously realisitic.

graphically broken bones? in the comic, Hit-girl gives one dude a compound fracture, which is one of the things I can't deal with. like, is it more grisly than the totality of Kill Bill volume 1?

Post by Super Nintendo Chalmers on Apr 16, 2010 15:16:39 GMT -5
Err, it's been a long time since I've seen Kill Bill, but no, it's probably a bit more tame than that. Most of the violence is exacerbated by the fact that it's being dealt out by a little girl, but the fight scenes themselves are mostly brief. She mostly uses guns and knives in the movie, so I don't think there were any broken bones like you're describing.

Jesus fucking christ this movie was so excellent. I feel like they could have trimmed out maybe 20 minutes, but excellent nonetheless.
And thank god Nicholas Cage didn't fuck this up.

Hit Girl was amazing. Best character, by far. Nic Cage did a good job, too. I'm definitely going to go watch it again. Basically, everything that Nick said, I agree with.

My brother said he had the same problem. He lives in Buttfucknowhere, AZ, though, where there's no shortage of fundies, so I wouldn't be surprised if it never shows up at that theater.
