I've only seen Blue Velvet, some Twin Peaks and some of Inland Empire, but all of it is really fascinating. I'm probably going to watch nothing but David Lynch films for the new few days. www.cbs.com has every episode of Twin Peaks, btw.

Yeah, he's an absolute genius. Yeah, if you plan on watching nothing but David Lynch for the next few days prepare to end your life.
But seriously, don't do it. One a week, maybe. The movies are like books. You should watch and process them, sit on them, find someone you know to discuss them with, and then find someone more informed who can provide insight you're not equipped to know because you have a real job (internets!)
Then you watch it again, but not just to take it all in- to look for small things, nods, winks, beauties, whatever. It works, trust me.

Some dude traded in his old vhs bootleg of Eraserhead at my store the other day, and it came with 5 little Eraserhead buttons. I got a couple of them, and they're cool. I like everything by David Lynch I've seen, but haven't seen Dune, Straight Story, or Elephant Man yet.

The only film of his I've seen is Blue Velvet. Still though, such a good movie and he's an absolutely amazing director. Crazy, but amazing.

He's one of the best living directors without a doubt. Every one of his films is pioneering, original and engaging on every level (except Dune, which was a total failure, but the type of failure only a great director could make. See Coppola's Dracula for another example)
It sucks that he's also one of the biggest living assholes, but I'm a firm believer in trusting the art over the artist, even if his legendary douchieness makes it hard.

he doesn't seem like an asshole to me, just...kind of stilted.

I've only seen Mulholland Dr. and Eraserhead. The former was great and forced me to watch it 100 times. My interpretations satisfy me finally, but that's why the film is so incredible: you can watch it over and over and never see the same movie twice. Eraserhead I wasn't in the right frame of mind to watch. I'll need to try it again. I want to set that as my ringtone. PABST! BLUE! RIBBON! My roommate just did.

After we first watched that movie in my film class me, my sister and a bunch of other people in our class would just randomly yell that constantly.

I got drunk and was saying that all night, while drinking PBR, and no one got it. Haha, I yell it at people when they mention Heineken. I love David Lynch. Found a short film collection at a video store, still need to rent it. How awesome is that song 'In Heaven' from Eraserhead? So haunting.

My favorite thing about Lynch is that he's a completely pure artist. His movies are not intellectual at all, and he's not even a particularly smart guy. He just directs with his gut, plain and simple. The results are refreshing and opaque and I love him for it.
There's so little contrived meaning to his films that it makes them very personal, I think. They mean something totally different to each individual.
