I've been meaning to get into The Wire for a long time. It's a pretty big undertaking, though, considering that I'd have to do it through Netflix. Maybe that's what I'll do when I finally finish The X-Files.

I enjoy the Simpsons, but I like Futurama better. Only other one I could say is my favorite is Beavis and Butthead.

there was just something about that show. it was scary, funny, and engrossing. and it even got good again after half a weak season.

X-Files, for sure. It had everything...drama, humor, sci-fi, all of it. Also gonna second or third or whatever Futurama because that show was genius.
And ya'll can hate, but Lost. Definitely Lost. There has never been another show that got me so caught up so quickly and held me like it does.

I definitely meant to say M*A*S*H as well. Probably the only (non-animated) show that I have loved since I was little and still legitimately love for content, not nostalgia.

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned (Firefly, LOST, Twin Peaks, Six Feet Under). The only thing I'd add is Deadwood.

Sorry, but even if it's great (I don't know, I've never seen it) 13 episodes isn't nearly enough to cement a show as the best ever. What about Fawlty Towers? That was only around for like 12 episodes, but it's considered one of the greatest comedy series of all time.

Animaniacs.
Even to this day, that cartoon is fucking amazing. So many of the jokes were so layered that you get one layer as a kid, and a totally different layer as an adult.
And, even though I don't think it's the greatest show of all time, I think it deserves an honorable mention: Quantum Leap. (It got repetitive after a while, but totally made up for it towards the end of the series... fucking heartbreaking.)
Also, I can't argue against Lost being absolutely spectacular and completely captivating.

Jokes, not disgusting sexual innuendo. there were jokes, and they were great! yes, there's disgusting innuendo. it was also made by a man who genuinely loved cartoons, rather than a cynical corporation who was cribbing safe elements of his style.

I'm going to agree with The Wire. It's my favorite show, at least. I HAVE to see this. Do you have all the DVDs? We should have a season 1 "party" sometime soon.

Ren and Stimpy was better! WHAT. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved original R&S as much as they next gal, but vs. Animaniacs? There's just no comparison!

you're right, there is none. Animaniacs is not as good as Ren and Stimpy.

How the shit can you say Animaniacs is better? That's crazy. Pinky and the Brain's spin off show was better than Animaniacs.
