Preseason's a month away and I'm pretty much giddy with excitement. I've never had this much anticipation for a season. The Leaf's have a considerable amount of depth and if Connolly stays healthy and plays well with Kessel they'll finally have a quality first line. I'm also stoked for the return of Colton Orr and to see how Kadri matures as a player.

FUCK YEAH. Caps have super high expectations after the moves they made this summer. They're a lot deeper up front with Brouwer and Ward now and Vokoun should finally provide them some stable goaltending. That along with a bounce-back campaign from Ovi and Backstrom should lead to great things this season. Second line center situation is still iffy but I hope Laich can hold the fort down for a little bit.
Thinking the Kings will really contend out West year and I'm expecting Kopitar to have a monstrous season. I don't know if I like them more than Chicago, San Jose, Vancouver or Detroit, though.
I'm also gonna be doing some Canes bloggin' this year since I got a gig with Bloguin. I've been working hard on it the last month and it's been slowly gaining recognition.

The Kings look like they've been stock piling to have a big year. I don't know if they should have traded Schenn, even if they did get Richards in return.

So long, Chris Drury. You were a good one.

Most likely. I like some of their young defensemen but Bryan Murray's put that team in an awful position and they're going to be in a painful rebuild mode for the next couple years. At least he's doing it the right way and saving money unlike Dale Tallon down in Florida.
Leafs-Sens game was pretty decent. Thought the Grabovski line looked like ass, though.

While I thought they looked disorganized, there were flashes of what made that line so good last year and I'm not in the least bit worried. I've got a really good feeling about this Toronto team this year.

I see the Leafs battling for a playoff spot but I say that every year. I think they've got a pretty solid team and Liles should help their powerplay. Gunnarsson impressed me the most tonight on Toronto. Thought he moved the puck really well and he had a nice play on the second goal. Looks like Franson's got some tough competition.

4 - 1 start. For once, my Ducks don't roll out of the gates slowly. Looking forward to what hopes to be a good season.

I can't believe Dan Ellis stopped 41 shots. I thought he was finished after last year.

Ugh. What a heart-breaker. I can't put it all on him, but I feel Hiller takes the larger brunt of the blame for losing this one to the Caps. At least two goals were his fault, with another he should have had. His positioning just seemed awful.

That was a fucking wild game. The Ward and Brouwer goals were pretty bad on Hiller's part.

I'm happy that game ended up being on national TV. Games like that might hook some more casual fans into the sport, especially with the NBA being kaput for this year.

I expected the Leafs to play well this year, but first place in the league? Jeeze. Scrivens played great tonight in his first start. I hate to say t, but I'm already more comfortable with him in net than Gustavsson.

The Leafs strong start might help them finally get back to the playoffs this year. I think they have a few guys playing over their heads and the defense has looked shaky but they're a lot of fun to watch.

So, the Stars are playing really well (or at least Lehtonen, Souray, Eriksson and Benn are) and are near the top of their conference, but they still can't draw fans to games. Thus, they come up with this marketing tactic.... God, I fucking wish I was going to Dallas for Thanksgiving break.

Thought Carolina was in for another beatdown from the Flyers tonight but injuries have forced Philly to dress Bourdon and Marshall (two kids playing their first games in the NHL) tonight so that could work in our favor. Then again, this is a team that turned in a horrible performance against Montreal last week so I shouldn't get too confident.

Sidney Crosby is so much fun to have in the league. I'm glad he's back--can't believe his season was cut short last year, awesome as it was.

The Jets are slowly turning into a pretty decent team after their horrible start. I didn't have too high hopes for them but Kane is getting better and Wellwood was a great low-risk signing for them. Still don't trust their banged up defense and goaltending to say they'll make the playoffs but they might finish above Carolina at this rate.

Randy Carlyle is gone? And replaced by Bruce Boudreau? That was a busy day off!

I'm pretty sure that was a sports record for quickest job change or something. I wish Boudreau the best and thought it was total bullshit that he was fired in Washington. Hopefully we can still succeed under Hunter.
