^ I just started watching this show recently too. I can't believe I ignored it for so long while I watched Mad Men, because this show is fucking fantastic. I'm onloy about 4 episodes into the third season at this point, so I'm still pretty far behind, but I just want to say that I hope Saul sticks around for the remainder of the series (mostly because I wish he were my lawyer), that I love Aaron Paul and anything he does with his character, and that I'll be excited to see Skyler develop into someone who is likable, rather than just relatable. Must gbo watch some more!

I don't know that I would say that Skyler becomes more likeable, but she does get more interesting. I'm still super bummed that I haven't seen the second half of season 4

I'm about a quarter of the way through season 4 now, and I wish Gus would just kill Walt so that I don't have to watch his stupid bullshit anymore. He's so awful and idiotic now. I think the character progression with him is a little unbelievable from the beginning of the series to this point, and he's easily the worst part of the show in my opinion.

I watched it all on netflix, it was amazing. i just need to watch the latest season I NEED to see Season 4. the end of season 3 got me so stoked and then... can't watch 4. I get the Walt hate, but I also kind of see it as him finally having some power, or feeling like he never did and now he does. He's making a lot of stupid fucking decisions which are ruining his life but that's just the type of person he is now that he thinks he's powerful. So I guess I would see it as sort of realistic, but it's definitely been taken to an extreme.

OK, quick thing. Wife and I love watching Ghost Whisperer. Like, the entire series has become our Rocky Horror. It's a 2-person cult favorite where we yell stuff at the screen and LOL and all that fun stuff. So we finally got to the end of Season 2 of Breaking Bad and I was telling my wife that we saw Gus in something recently. Of course I IMDB'd that shit. Turns out it was this episode of Ghost Whisperer where this black dude gets in a racially charged fight and gets killed. Guess who the white dude that killed him is--Ding! Ding! Ding! Jesse! Now I don't wanna spoil anything for anybody, and I'm just using my intuition (e.g. everyone saying "Gus is a baaaaaaaaad dude") but damn, Ghost Whisperer foreshadowing back in 06 like a motherfucker.

Yeah each season keeps getting better and better. I'm glad next season is going to be the last though so it can actually end well instead of being drawn out like so many other shows. Avon that's so bizarre!! Gus is such a well-written character. I hope we learn more about his past next season. As far as walt's character goes since you guys were talking about it above, I think the whole point of the show is to turn walt into an asshole. I mean vince has even said it. Watching a mediocre high school teacher totally break bad. The thing is that while he cares about his family he's mainly doing this for the thrill now. Also I love the father/son dynamic with walt and jesse and how at their cores they still care about eachother when it gets down to it. Vince says he wants there to be more walt/jesse time next season which is good. Walt has done some fucked up shit though like poisoning brock (as implied, it was left open-ended on purpose) to get jesse back on his side. When jesse says "he had to die, though...right?" After gus you can tell he was upset about losing a relationship with someone who approves and believes in him like no other older male in his life ever had (even walt, despite caring about him he never gives jesse enough credit or approval). Shit was sad.
Speaking of gus, it's widely speculated that the partner that the cartel killed in front of him years ago was actually his lover. You could tell he cared about the guy waaay more than just on a business level.
So glad salamanca ended up playing such an important role. I knew they were going to wire the bomb to the bell but it was still so great haha.
Sorry wow I just went really deep there but I'm so impressed by this show. I could analyze the writing and all of its sublte and clever detais for ages. You can't take this show at surface level at aaaall.
Also saul is great and I love him.
And hahaha the blow your face off comment.

Ugh, it's really hard to to watch Skylar walking on eggshells around Walt. Some great acting by Anna Gunn, though.

I'm in the middle of season four, and I don't really think it's that great at this point. The cinematography is cool and there's a lot of character development that you don't see so much in TV shows, but I don't really empathize with anyone in it. It's sort of entertaining still, but if it didn't stream on Netflix I really wouldn't give a shit about it.
