Mom: The Police Bruce Springsteen Tragically Hip Tom Petty
Dad: Zeppelin Metallica Jimi Hendrix
I still think the reason I never got into The Beatles is because my parents didn't have any of their albums.
My mom has slightly better taste than my dad. She has a more varied taste, whereas my dad mostly just listened to samey-sounding blues rock stuff like Cream, Eric Clapton, and Traffic. And two of his favorite bands are Grand Funk Railroad and Rush. Yuck.

I don't even know where to begin. They saw Husker Du in like 86! Found that out after I gave my sister a Husker Du CD last week. Let's see... I guess some of these are, ehh, more meaningful to me for the doors they kicked open in my mind, than because they're necessarily that good per se, but whatever.. I'd also like to thank my uncle Chuck, for showing my The Stooges and Rancid right when I was first getting into punk. Especially for The Stooges.

Dad: Bowie Lou Reed Frank Zappa Brian Eno Patti Smith
My dad and I have pretty similar taste in music. One of the funniest things is one days when I get home from record shopping, I'll show him some of the stuff I bought and he'll look very unimpressed and say, "Yeah, I already own all those albums." He has a massive record collection at my grandparent's house.

Oldies, in general Like Doo wop and r&b Mom: Pretty much the above. Motown stuff. Garth Brooks. Dad: The Beatles, Queen, The Eagles, Boston, Cream/Clapton and definitely Fleetwood Mac. Can we include older siblings too if we've got them since my brother is responsible for getting me into Green Day, Rancid, Offspring, Blink, and such.

The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, assorted Mo-Town, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John... I dunno, a ton of stuff. There was pretty constant music in my house when I was a kid, and I attribute most of who I am now to that.
The Beatles are huge, though. They're my mom's favorite band ever and she imprinted her obsession onto me.

My mom mostly listens to shit music. I'd be surprised if we had any overlap other than Simon and Garfunkel. I got a lot from my dad though, he listened to good stuff. Mostly classic rock and that kind of thing. He also saw Black Sabbath way back in the day.

My high school boyfriend's dad's band opened for Black Sabbath back in the day! I thought that was so fucking cool.
