I FINALLY STARTED WATCHING THIS SHOW AND I'M FIVE EPISODES IN SO I CAN'T READ THIS THREAD IN CASE OF SPOILERS. BUT THIS SHIT IS AMAZING AND I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S TAKEN ME SO LONG TO WATCH IT. ALSO I HATE THAT I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO OMAR IN THE END, UNLESS SEASON 1 OMAR GOES AWAY TO LIVE SOMEWHERE NICE AND THEN THERE'S A NEW OMAR AND THAT GUY DIES. I HOPE THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS. I like how this is the only post with a major spoiler, haha. I had already heard this though anyways I never actually understand why Omar was so loved until season 2. for me, season 1 was all about Bubbles

2 is all about the end of the working class and how that has caused the drug trade to be the only viable economic option for most people who would otherwise be doing those manufacturing jobs. I like this, especially as a "meta reference" - the show always features people who are excluded from normal work making their own work through the drug trade. But the 2nd season was the most watched when the show aired, because it had a more sympathetic group (white people, people with children.) This seems to have been intentional, too, which is kind of funny. Sadly, I fall into this group because I started watching this show during the second season. This is something that David Simon is constantly talking about in interviews and in the book The Corner, how drugs are an economic fact rather than a crime or moral problem.

SORRY BRO BUT YOU HAD TO FIND OUT SOME TIME. THANKS A LOT, THAT TIME SHOULD HAVE BEEN WHEN I WAS WATCHING IT AND IT HAPPENED. I've watched a bit of this show, I might try to make it through all of it this summer.

I watched the series finale yesterday. it wasn't my favorite show ever, but it's always sad when a series comes to an end I was so stoked to see Bubbles eating with his sister at the end. his one year anniversary speech had me in tears. GO BUBBLES Even in the commentary for the final episode, they admit that the original script called for Dukie to inject but they had to stop at him tying off because just the extra step was too much. oh, but lucky for us they saved it for the series finale

Extreme yes. It can be a little difficult at first because there are a lot of characters and it's tough to remember who's who right off the bat, but you'll catch it.

Ok I just finished season 1. Bubbles! I love him so much. When he found out Kima was shot, even though he'd just been beated up by that massive cop the first thing he said was 'what can I do' instead of asking about the money she said she'd give him.
Also Omar is the most BADASS GUY ALIVE.
And I can't believe they killed Wallis! He was just a kid!

I can't find the third disc of the first season. wtf, bros.
Wallace getting shot is the most depressing thing I've seen on television. Especially when Poo shoots him instead of Bodie.

So we were driving through Park Heights (aka the ghetto) and we saw a dude who looked just like Omar Little.
But THEN we went to a public market in west Baltimore and we saw a dude who looked AND dressed JUST LIKE Lt. Daniels. And I guess he's a regular at where we were drinking, because when he paid, the server said, "Thanks, Daniel."
It was awesome.
