Seems like one of those movies with potential to be great character pieces, like Mean Creek. I'm very curious to find out how all those shots entwine, since a number of them seem much more cinematic than the implied setting. I wonder if its sorta like The Fountain's dream-scapes?

I think I need to rewatch The Fountain. I saw it once when it first came out and I hated it, but I was thirteen then so I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I haven't seen any Terrence Malick movies and always assumed I would find them boring, but now I want to go watch all of them. I've watched this trailer about a dozen times and I still get chills.

I'd call The Fountain Aronofsky's worst film, but that's not saying much since all his other endeavors are amongst my favorites. As for Malick, I haven't seen any of his other films, either. The Thin Red Line had the misfortune of being released around the same time as Saving Private Ryan.

I'm a big Terrence Malick fan.
Few movies will ever be as good as Badlands. It's his London Calling - clean, tight and everything works. It's the only movie he's made where there hasn't been some big miss.

Honestly, I've never seen anything like this movie. I'd put it on the same level as 2001 (which many people are comparing it to) in regards to vision and execution. I don't know if I'd call it perfect (the dinosaur stuff is a little goofy, and the ending is cliche), but this film touched me in a way that no other ever has.

man, I loved the dinosaurs. they weren't as realistic looking as they could have been, but I really loved the shot of the wounded one on the beach. I'm a big Terrence Malick fan. Few movies will ever be as good as Badlands. It's his London Calling - clean, tight and everything works. It's the only movie he's made where there hasn't been some big miss. I really did like Badlands. I was bored to tears by Days of Heaven though other than that fantastic scene where the locusts came. I liked The Thin Red Line too, but have yet to see The New World. anyways, back to this movie. I thought it was incredible. most people hate on the beginning-of-time/nature portion but I thought it was the best part of the movie. the combination of the images with the music was stunning about the ending (if this movie even needs spoiler tags): was it clear that the part on the beach was supposed to be death? because I thought it was more about him reconciling with his past. I don't know

Yeah, that's the way I interpreted the ending.
