Scott Hannan apparently said that "there's no way the ice will be ready for tomorrow." I had a feeling there would be problems since they only had since last Thursday to start building the rink. The last two years they had all Winter because they were at Wrigley and Fenway. I don't think the one in Buffalo had these kinds of problems though since it's always frigid up there in January. I would be in favor of postponing it if the rain becomes a problem.
In other news, the Habs traded Maxim Lapierre to the Ducks. Wut?

Because of the time zone thing (1 PM ET is 9 AM for me, ugh) I wouldn't have a problem with it moving to primetime, haha.

Officially moved to 8 PM. I always wondered if waking up at 8 AM on Sundays to watch football was a pain for you. On the bright side, at least Monday night games don't end at midnight there ha.
This Canada-Sweden game is insane.

I thought the Canada game wasn't until tonight, but I luckily checked the TSN website midway through the second.

Olivier Roy might as well lay down at the bottom of the net and play goalie from there from here on out. It would have the same effect at this rate. Brayden Schenn is on fire, though. 14 points in the tournament already. This has been a great game.

I always wondered if waking up at 8 AM on Sundays to watch football was a pain for you. Not really. I usually don't make any extra effort to be up early unless it's a special game (playoffs, Caps actually on TV, big rivalry game, etc.). Mostly, it's detrimental during hockey season. I would totally buy an NHL Center Ice package if I were actually home in time for games, but they're over by the time I get off work.

Getzlaf out indefinitely after a puck to the face. Bobby Ryan as top line center is gonna be an interesting experiment.

So, anyone want to educate on Maxim Lapierre and illustrate whether or not I should look forward to the acquisition?

This is really all you need to know:
decent 3rd line player and agitator.

Great. Another dirty player.
That announcer had me laughing a storm. "Someone needs to go fix his wagon."

He's not always that dirty of a player, he is a big time pest though.
Rick DiPietro hurt again days after the Isles traded away Roloson. Hahaha.

What a fucking meltdown by Canada. Kuznetsov had a huge tournament which makes me look forward to when he's playing for Washington.

Moments like this are one of the few things a shootout is good for.

Benoit Pouliot had a nifty one against the Pens:

I loved Carey Price's pose after making the last save in that shootout. Him, Cammalleri, Gorges and I guess Gionta are the only dudes I like on the Habs.

Both amazing. Pouliot's goal is one of those shots I think should get attempted more often. It seems so hard to defend against as a goalie.

lol Leafs 9-3 over the Thrashers. Leafs scored 4 times on the same powerplay. I can't remember the last time that happened but it was during a 5 minute major.

It's All-Star Weekend, which means it's a good time to revive this thread and get things going again.

I watched all of the skills competitions and the all-star game. Very entertaining. Was the draft televised? It was a great idea and seeing the results makes me think the process would have been entertaining to watch.
St. Louis's shootout was insane, even if Corey Perry was the only one to go 3 - 0. Speaking of, how the fuck did Perry do that stick maneuver in the trick shot competition?
The goalie speed skate was so fucking hilarious. I hope they do that every year. Seeing Tim Thomas book it then fall on his ass round the turn was too good. Great guy, loved all the interviews with him.
Lastly, mic-ing up Cam Ward during the game was cool. Quite interesting to hear the goalie's input throughout the period.

I was hoping Kessel would produce during the All-Star game and put some umph back in his game, but no luck.

The draft was televised. I thought the skills competition was fun and the game was sort of entertaining. I kept asking myself how many times could I watch constant breakaways before it got boring but then I remembered that I'm a Caps fan and used to watch that shit on a daily basis.

I am so fucking glad I have no playoff expectations for Washington this year because they'll be gone in the first round again if they keep playing like this.

He took him down with one punch, haha. DP might be going back to the IR because he broke his orbital bone after taking that hit. Guy can not catch a break no matter what.
Nice to hear that Hodgson scored his first goal tonight, too.

Went to my first hockey game since... the Hartford Whalers came to town. Geez... Good game, Ducks got rolled early but easily could have won with the comeback they mounted.

I got so caught up in the excitement of the goalie fight that I didn't hear about Franzen's 5 goal game. Pretty crazy. That game had a horrible no-goal call too, probably the worst blown call I've seen this year.

And oddly enough, it involved the Red Wings. I think about 85% of those weird calls involve them. I understand the whole "intent to blow the whistle" rule (sort of....) but Howard barely had control of the puck there. Horrendous call. Tough break for the Sens.
Stars-Broooooooons game started off with three fights. Raycroft pulled after stopping zero of two shots lol.
