although I want no part in this Spiderman reboot, I'm actually kind of excited Spiderman 4 is cancelled. I would rather see Sam Raimi do other stuff (other stuff that hopefully includes another Evil Dead)

I'm already not wanting to see the new Spiderman. Especially since they said that it's supposed to be going back through his high school years. They already kinda did that in the first one.... and if they go any earlier, he's just Peter Parker, not Spiderman. Therefore the movie should be called 'Peter Parker'.

if Mark Webb is directing this, it might be good. you don't get to shit-talk it unless you saw and hated 500 Days of Summer.

But they want this completely seperate from Raimi's Spiderman series, like an Ang Lee who?, when it comes to the Hulk. And I'm ok with that. I'm just a little weary when it comes Webb. Also I'm happy it's not Uwe.

Ohhh so this isn't a continuation? Whole new cast and everything? That's odd, so soon after the other Spidermans.

They already used all of Spider-Man's good villains and Venom.

Actually I rescind my previous comment, I fully support a Spider-Man movie where he fights The Enforcers, possibly even teamed up with Hammerhead.

Vulture, Rhino, Mysterio, Hydro-man, Lizard, Electro... All do-able. Shocker too, especially given the opportunity for puns.
If they reboot without feeling the need to re-tell the origin story, I'll be in line for a ticket. Otherwise, I've seen the super-hero origin movie too many fucking times now.

also, the director's last name is "Webb." what could be more appropriate?

the action is going to take a backseat to the high school angst?
so is this just gonna be Twilight with spiders?

Well, one spider for about a minute until it's done biting Peter. Then back to the angst!

Also I'm happy it's not Uwe. Naw, Hollywood only uses Uwe films to launder money (and, previously, get German tax sheltering). They'd never give him a franchise that they actually thought would break even. I was gunning for Blomkamp to direct because he is a Sony guy and has a decent sized action hit under his belt, but oh well. Matthew Vaughn would be good as well. Layer Cake was kickass, and Kick-Ass looks great. As for Marc Webb....500 Days of Summer looked like generic hipster indie crap, but I've heard it's actually good, so who knows. Also, /film rules. I am a frequent poster there.

I just wish, whatever ends up happening, that Spiderman can be a character with actual wit and charm this time around. Tobey had all the personality of an athletic sock.
