Anyone into this stuff? Lately, I've been listening non-stop to Zomby, can't get enough of his album and EPs. Joker also has some incredible tracks, one of the best in dubstep right now. for people unfamiliar with 'wonky' or 'purple, here are some good tracks:
Everything that's been released on Hyperdub is pretty awesome. Can't wait for the new Joker and Rustie albums.

I thought Prince cornered the market on purple.

Me, but I guess you probably would have guessed that.
I've been rocking the Hyperdub Anniversary releases pretty much exclusively, with a bit of Rephlex Records (Grime 2) and Plastician thrown in.
Also liking a Digital Mystikz white label release I picked up. But not sure what it is...

I too have the Hyperdub compilation, but I will have to snag those other albums you mentioned.
Also, it looks like Warp are getting a little more dubstep with the Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke and Rustie signings. You should pick up 'Warp 2010' Matt, some really good tracks on there.

Have you got the Hyperdub 5 series of EPs (5.1, .2 etc)? They're good.
I've been meaning to order some stuff from Bleep/Warp, so I'll probably wind up with Warp 2010 because I think they're giving it away with orders over a certain value.

No, I haven't, I'll have to pick those up too. Do you ever download mixes? www.mediafire.com/?le2gyzmjjmj this Rustie set from Warp20 is awesome, now I'm even more excited for his new shit on Warp. Also, Butter by Hudson Mohawke, specifically the track FUSE, has been on repeat for a while, you should think about getting it from Bleep or something.

I've started getting into dubstep this year. Digging stuff like Joker, Skream, Starkey, and Rusko.
Starkey especially strikes me as pretty fucking cool. I think dubstep can be kinda easy to spin, but some of the stuff he does is insane. Haha.

All of this stuff reminds me of when I used to fuck around with Fruity Loops. I mean, maybe I'm somehow missing the amazingness of it, but it really just sounds like the shit I'd produce without knowing a thing about music. I mean, if you dig it, then awesome, but if not, it's still just noise and idiocy to me: www.myspace.com/wormwoodzero

Meh, any genre of electronic music can end up sounding cheesy, but there's a lot of legitimate DJs and producers that are doing sweet shit with dubstep etc.

I don't know, I think your reasoning for disliking it is why I like it. It's just fun, sometimes really over the top, and it's a nice fun distraction from a lot of the "serious" music I like. I also just love electronic music, and it seems like this is where it's heading.

So far, I really dig Nosaj Thing and Zomby. The other shit is cool, but those two definitely stand out. But I haven't really taken in all of it yet.

Be sure to listen to Flying Lotus' Los Angeles at least twice. He's my favorite out of everything I gave you, but it's barely related to this genre. i just put it in because it's fucking awesome.

I was a bit more of a jerk last night than I intended. Guess I'm a bit rude sometimes when I'm too drunk. I really don't have a problem with any of this stuff, just gets kind of boring/repetitive after a little bit though. Don't know why I was giving you guys a hard time for liking it.

Haha cool.
I'm glad Matt "encouraged" me to get into Autechre, because I don't think I would've ever taken the time to appreciate their music. I fucking love them now.

He's all about that. He was saying today that if he was really into dubstep he'd be going to Portland every weekend. There's apparently a really awesome scene burgeoning. There's a record store & label in Portland that's really sweet called Anthem Records, and they have this offshoot record label that's just straight dubstep.

What the fuck, I would've loved that. I didn't meet anyone there that liked any type of electronic music. Where is Anthem Records?

5th Avenue, off of Couch downtown. There's a pretty healthy DJ scene, but I think it's hard to get into without knowing other people. Which sounds douchey. But that's not surprising, as it's Portland, haha.
The offshoot record label is called Lo Dubs.
