OMG I'M RELEVANT TO THIS THREAD FOR ONCE. I picked up Father John Misty's album "I Love You, Honeybear" today and holy shit it's so fantastic. It's got a very...whatever we can do to refer to 2004-2010 indie folkish thing going on, but it's really big and clever and it's got great pop sensibilities. Ugh it's so good.

This is in a tight tight race with A Flourish and a Spoil by The Districts for my album of the year. It's totally fucking bonkers, cynical, explicit yet honest and tender and loving at the same time. If you get a chance to see him live, do it. I've seen him twice this year and both shows ruled.

Yeh, I'm keeping an eye out. Seems like it'd be a great live act.

Don't get me wrong, all of their albums are great, but I was listening to that for like 2 hours that day and it's perfect.

It goes back and forth between that one and Ruiner for me but I actually do love all of their records.

I read a Vice article about some shoegaze band I've never heard of before tweeting some transphobic bullshit about an Olympia hardcore band called G.L.O.S.S. I'm listening to the latter's EP and it's really solid. I don't listen to hardcore too often anymore, but I like this.

So not surprised to find out it was Whirr, they've always seemed like shitheads but damn that's a new low.

Yeah, Whirr is a mediocre band at best that says shitty and awful things. Fuck them.
I need to check out that G.L.O.S.S. EP though. It's on the list for the week.

so i just found this band called The Money Pit, they have the old vocalist and guitarist from Gatsby's American Dream. I think I like this band a lot more, but I'm a big sucker for mid-00's pop rockish stuff (Motion City Soundtrack, P!ATD, etc) and this band hits all the right chords for me and the production on this record is top notch. anyways this song keeps getting stuck in my head.

listening to Vince Staples in class #thuglife
more seriously, I see Vince blowing up a lot in the next 2 years. Summertime 06 was a hell of an album, even tho i slept on it hard last year. Norf Norf just makes me want to go do hoodrat shit with my friends. i really want to see him get some big features this year and come back with an even better album next year.
I AIN'T NEVER RAN FROM NOTHIN BUT THE POLICE

That was a pretty great song and that video was super cool, gonna save that bandcamp for later.
Listening to the first Nightmare of You album right now and I am remembering all over again why I loved them. I would kill for a third album. I also just realized that The Rookie Lot spawned 3 bands that I love, including 2 of my absolute favorites. Brandon was in it, a few people from Brand New were in it and Alex from Crime in Stereo was in it. Pretty good lineage there.

I've been listening to him nonstop since I found out. I first listened to my four-hour playlist of my favorite songs of his, then when I got home I started in on his entire discography. For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, and Purple Rain last night. Around The World In A Day and Parade this morning. I'm listening to "Billy's Sunglasses" right now ( fixyou1958.podbean.com/e/prince-billys-sunglassesfull-5108-minutes/). I spent all last night looking for that one because I lost it last time my hard drive failed. I'm gonna listen to Vanity 6 next. I was really bummed when I first heard, I just kinda wanted to go back to sleep and not do anything, but listening to his music makes me feel so much better.

I actually was gonna create a Tidal trial to listen to his discog because I lost most of my digital library, but I blanked on it yesterday. But yeah, I was so damn bummed all day and listening to some of his performances really picked me up a bit. What an immensely talented individual.
I think they should wait a while to do anything with it, but man oh man, I really want to hear what he has locked away in that vault.

I somehow missed that Make Do and Mend's first two EPs are on Spotify now. I forgot how much I loved these. Staring Problem is still one of my favorite songs from them, it's just so different than the rest of their catalog and it constantly gets caught in my head.

giving In Rainbows a re-listen for the first time in quite a while. i forgot how good of a song Bodysnatchers is. i just love that gradual build of intensity that suddenly drops away like 2 minutes in and gives way to some less distorted guitars and then roars back for a conclusion. so damn good.
