Tonight's episode was very underwhelming. I was expecting this big blowup moment (or at least a talk) between Finn and Puck, but nothing. The music was also somewhat boring (what was with Quinn's number? That was bizarre). I did love that Sue came back to play a major role.

I pretty much hated it. There was only one decent song ("Loser") and it got cut short. Two thumbs down.

I thought it was a pretty solid episode. There was a lot more humour than drama which made for a nice change of pace.
The main thing I didn't like was the over-use of the work "funk". "We're in such a funk", "they're funkifying us", "that's great funk"/
"Funky" is my least favourite word in the English language.

I've watched five episodes this weekend to catch up so they all kind of blurred together. Loved the Gaga episode but I agree with whoever said Poker Face was a weird song choice for Rachel and her mom.
Love Kurt's dad. And good word I hope they utilize Santana more. Getting sick of Rachel's singing face.

Oh man, this past episode was one of my favorites! I seriously think it's my favorite since the Madonna episode, actually. I loved like, all the songs, especially Quinn's. I also loved air-humping Will, egged Rachel, and I ESPECIALLY loved Quinn's dancing in the last song.
Haha, I guess I'm in the minority, but I thought that episode rocked!

but I agree with whoever said Poker Face was a weird song choice for Rachel and her mom. I thought this at first, too. But they'd just gotten done with this big thing about how Idina Menzel wasn't ready to be a "Mom-figure" in Rachel's life, so it would have been strange to have them sing some powerful mother-daughter ballad. I hope they utilize Santana more. I'm almost positive they're bringing on both Santana and Brittany as full-time cast members next season, so we'd better get to hear more songs from Santana and more "gay dolphins" from Brittany. Meredith, the Madonna episode is the other one I was really unimpressed with this 1/2 season.

Mm fair enough, but still.. Poker Face? hahah. Watching Rachel make her saucy face while singing at her mom and her mom singing about bluffing with her muffin.. wasn't feeling it.
I don't think I enjoy Brittany as much as most of you but I'll admit she's growing on me. Her 'who is that guy?' when Puck walked in sans mohawk made me laugh.

Okay, SPOILER ALERT.
Firstly, HOW COULD QUINN (and Puck) GIVE HER BABY TO THAT WOMAN? She hasn't exactly proven to be Mother of the Year. She finally gets her daughter (Rachel), and when Rachel isn't what Idina wants, she discards her. Every episode her parenting abilities diminished, yet Quinn wants Beth to go to her. This isn't frikkin Juno.
Secondly, loved everything else*! I really like the way they handled the placements, and the future of glee club for next year/season. Plus, the scene with Vocal Adrenaline/ Beth's birth was so well done**!
*Minus a few things with the judges: Weren't ONJ and Sue bffs a few episodes ago? And Josh Groban experienced a practically instantaneous character-personality shift. **Though that was the fastest birth ever. Damn.

SPOILERS SPOILERS YADA YADA YADA
I fucking loved the episode. Vocal Adrenaline's Bohemian Rhapsody was amazing, and it was pretty obvious that they were going to win, but that Journey medley rocked the house too. They way they worked the birth into the song was just brilliant. I definitely saw it coming that Sue would do something to save the club, but it was still a really good moment. As for Rachel's mom adopting the baby, I don't see what was so bad about it? She didn't "discard her" because she wasn't what she expected. She just felt that Rachel was at the age where they just couldn't jump right into a normal mother/daughter relationship, and she wanted a second chance to start from the beginning. I thought it was rather nice, myself. Even though Rachel is annoying most of the time, that plotline was one of the best of the season. It was realistic and genuinely heartbreaking.

(But, anyways, SPOILERS).
My heart kind of melted a whole lot when Finn just walks up to Rachel and says "I love you" right before they went out to sing. Also, Puck's faces during the birthing scene were hilarious. I was also kind of freaking out during Bohemian Rhapsody. I fucking love Jesse St. James <3. Oh, and the "To Sir, With Love" number? AMAZING. And Tina crying at the beginning and talking about how much she loved the club? MY HEART WAS CRYING.
Such a good episode.

I thought it was rather nice, myself. I think this is the thing that bothers me the most here. It wouldn't bother me that she wanted to start over if she had handled the Rachel thing differently. It didn't have to be a normal mother/daughter relationship. Rachel already has a family. She was looking for a way to integrate Idina (sorry, never caught the character's name) into her life, trying to ease into a relationship and see what could form. After finding Rachel and introducing the sense of hope, she spent the rest of the time pushing her away because Rachel didn't meet her expectations. The lack of effort she was willing to put into forming a relationship with Rachel makes me question her parenting abilities.

That was the impression I got from their very first meeting, with Rachel proposing they go out to dinner to get to know each other, and Idina running off. She never seemed to care about what was best for Rachel, and always struck me as far too selfish.

Idina's character didn't actually approach Rachel, though. Yeah, she sent Jesse, but she saw that Rachel was okay on her own and didn't need to force herself into Rachel's life. Rachel was the one that ended up approaching Idina. And I think Idina did the adult thing and backed off, because Idina's presence in Rachel's life was really just confusing and not needed. I also don't think that Idina has a responsibility to be a parent to Rachel.

She had Jesse plant a tape knowing that it would drive Rachel to find her. She even admitted that she felt it was time Rachel found her after seeing her sing at sectionals. I don't think Idina had the responsibility to be a mom to Rachel, but I think she handled the whole thing very poorly. She didn't talk to Rachel's fathers about anything, or even ask Rachel what she felt she needed. She also made it very clear to Rachel that Rachel wasn't what Idina needed in a daughter. Maybe I'm the only person who feels this way, but I can't stand the way Idina handled the whole thing.

She handled it really selfishly, but then, it was also very in-line with the way Rachel handles a lot of difficult situations. I think the difference is that Idina didn't eventually recognise how to fix it.
This episode was by far my favourite of the whole series. Before they sang To Sir, With Love, I was sobbing.

If people don't want spoilers they should not come into the Glee thread! Word up, hahaha. I was like five episodes behind and this thread was taunting me but it's like I didn't have permission to come in here because I wasn't caught up! Hm.. I think I'm gonna debbie down a little, hahah. Sorry sorry. I'm just not as jazzed on the episode as a lot of you seem to be. I'm not quite with Rebecca on the Idina/Rachel thing, but I'm way more with her than anybody else I think. And her getting Quinn's baby? Really predictable and I didn't like it. And yeah, she absolutely drove Rachel to find her, she told Jesse that in the car (Didn't she say something like 'I need her to listen to that tape so she'll come find me'?). Hated how the birthing scene tied in with the song. Cheesy. Puck's faces were SO funny, though. And Quinn bringing Mercedes in was sweet. Oh and I grew up hearing Journey almost nonstop so they have a special place in my heart and I LOVED ND's performance. I just really really hope they spread parts out a bit more next season. I mean really. Better than Vocal Adrenaline, though, what the fuck. One dude singing almost the entire time? Alright. It was boring. In a bizarre turn of events, I loved Sue in this episode. The scene between her and Will at the very beginning was hilarious. And Josh Groban, hahahah. *Minus a few things with the judges: Weren't ONJ and Sue bffs a few episodes ago? I love what they do with ONJ though, hahahah. Oh so in conclusion, dug the episode. Rolled my eyes at a few parts, though. I was expecting to cry with all the tweets I read but no dice. What did everybody cry at? Just curious, genuinely asking. I've already started to forget parts so I could have forgotten a teary part. Ooooh I forgot about the beginning. I could see how that could have gotten some people. OH FUCK WAIT. How awesome was worked up Pillsbury?!

I disagree, I though Vocal Adrenaline definitely deserved to win it. I mean, the Journey medley rocked, but Bohemian Rhapsody? C'mon. And the choreography was ridiculous. I didn't cry, but I got choked up when the kids sang "To Sir, With Love" and when Will did "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" (loved that arrangement, BTW).
Pissed-off Emma was AWESOME. Although I wanted to punch Will when he just grabbed her and kissed her. I thought it was weird and over-the-line.

I still don't love this show, but I think the last couple of episodes really improved on the stuff that drove me nuts. I really didn't dig the Bohemian Rhapsody for some reason. Enjoyed the Journey medley, enjoyed To Sir, With Love and really loved Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
I liked the Gaga episode a lot more than I expected to, but the Poker Face scene was painful. That song's even worse when you can hear all the lyrics. Drawn out. Slowly. Loved it when Kurt's dad confronted Finn.
And the Safety Dance, Dream On and the Boy is Mine were all really, really awesome. Oh, and Coming Up Roses. Basically, the songs involving neither Finn or Rachel tend to be great.

And yeah, she absolutely drove Rachel to find her, she told Jesse that in the car (Didn't she say something like 'I need her to listen to that tape so she'll come find me'?). Yes, exactly! I think this storyline was another example of things going wrong with scripts most of this season; they laid it out like things were going to happen one way, and then, for reasons I don't get, cut it short JUST so the Idina Menzel character would be child-free and able to get Quinn's baby. Everything happened way to quickly, there, between Idina wanting to be a mom, changing her mind, then deciding what she REALLY wanted was a baby and not a grown child. Weird and not successful, and it really seemed extra forced, like it was designed entirely to have her get the baby in the season finale. I think they missed the boat on a lot of potential awesome conflict-y things that could have been drawn out with Idina and Rachel.
