I know there are working artists on here, so here's a thread for us. And for those who wish to oogle (and buy?) our work. Here's my site. I'm still iffy on it and it's still on a trial basis. Y/N? jkoepk.otherpeoplespixels.com/home.html

I really really like the watercolor stuff. Its simple, but the rock one blows me away with all the colors.

(sorry its so dark) That is the kind of stuff I like to do the most, however I'm starting work on an art portfolio for college, so I'm starting to branch out more. I really need to photograph some of of my newer stuff, too. I feel like I've improved. I also have been into jewelry making recently, and have gotten better at it since I made the stuff currently on my Etsy, but you can see that here: etsy.com/rachelmorgandesigns Jess, I really like your stuff. Like Stephie & Josh said, your watercolors are great.

bendrawslife.blogspot.com is my comic strip. It's not really a good representation of my artwork, because I dumbed it down to very very simple drawings. Once I make a portfolio type website, I'll post that.

Ben, i love your stuff, i think i've checked it out before, you must have linked it on the OMB... Jessie, your watercolours are amazing. well the few i got to load anyway, safari and a slow net connection are disagreeing with your site at the moment.. My blog: www.benmessih.com/I need to spend some time updating it and making it look half decent. Also, probably uploading some more recent works... oh wells. Let me know what you think..

Thanks dude, yeah, the Full Metal Jacket piece was kinda an experiment in being more expressive with my brushwork and colour. Moved back towards the large areas of flat colour with my newer work, but looking at stenciling all the linework, which so far is working out pretty well..

Ben, what media do you use to do those? I keep coming back to the Woman IV one, something about it is great, and I generally hate pop art.
And Jess, I love those stones. Haha. Reminded me how much I really need to start working with watercolors again.

I just started working in watercolors again after about 3 months. It's taking a while to get into the swing again.

And for those who wish to oogle (and buy?) our work. Haha. I will soon most likely have many blank walls to fill, but I have a wee budget. The house even has spotlights for artwork though! (Former owner was an artist) I love the watercolors especially though!

Jess, just curious, are you using any of the daniel smith primatek watercolors?

No, I used to use Winsor and Newton until they were all stolen. Now I'm using a mix of Winsor and Newtons and Grumbacher.

I also draw tons of creatures and make comics out of them sometimes. Here's one I did tonight:

ah, okay. some of your colors look like the primatek line, which is pretty distinctive. daniel smith will send a free sample sheet on request, if you'd be at all curious to try them out. i think you'd enjoy both the colors and the handling qualities. =)
nice work, btw. and bummer your w&n got stolen, art supplies are too fucking expensive for a loss like that. =/

Thanks. Yeah, I've gotten probably about $400 worth of supplies stolen in the past couple of years. It's complete bull.
Ben, that is awesome.

Hey Ben, The ones up on the site are all acrylic on canvas. I mostly use jo carl sonja's because i like the consistency. But lately i've been getting interior acrylic sample pots from hardware stores. 500ml for $6.50AUD? Yes please! Aerosol-wise i use Ironlak, cause its cheap and smells like candy.
That is so shit Jess, w&n aren't exactly cheap either. I share a studio with a few kids who are pretty trustworthy, so i guess im lucky in that respect, the worst thing i have to deal with is finding my brushes left in water or not washed out correctly.. which is still pretty fail.
Haha, thats great Ben. I'm going to link your sites on my blog (which im going to update next week with any luck.. man i'm shit)

Not really dispensing advice, but generally just stating something completely out of context/non sequitur. I need to organize a site with them other than facebook photo galleries.

I don't consider myself an artist, but I just bought a new DSLR and I love it. I started a Flickr today of some pictures I've taken so far. Not much is up yet, but I'm hoping to learn a lot more and take some pretty pictures eventually. www.flickr.com/hnbauer

So I paid the year for my website. It's official. www.jessiekoepke.comAlso, had a booth at a convention this weekend. I made $15. FAIL. But I don't feel so bad because none of the other tables did well either. No one really went to the artists alley area of the convention. And if they did, they were usually just browsing.

That's one thing I really need to try out, that whole possibility of having stuff made up for conventions and all that jazz. I've never even been to one.

Most of the stuff I had was half-naked chicks. Which is generally what sells at anime/comic book conventions. Prints are big. It's hard to sell originals, even if they're just sketches.
