A New Hope was on earlier. Empire is on Spike TV right now! Jedi will be on next. How great are these movies? They were a huge part of my childhood! I never cared for A New Hope when I was younger. I love it now! I'm still not sure if I like Empire or Jedi more!
Discuss all things Star Wars. The movies! The hard as fuck SNES games! The toy lightsabers! Star Tours at Disneyland and the remodeling it's getting! Everything!

doesn't Spike play the new edits of the OG trilogy? I have it on VHS, I'm too confused by all the DVD editions that are out there.

I think so. I don't remember there being many changes to Empire though, so it doesn't bother me.

God I hate the special editions. Watching them recently on TV, I noticed that some of the audio has been enhanced from the original and some of it hasn't, and there's huge, blatant changes in the audio quality between certain scenes. So sloppy.

I like them mostly because there's more of them.

Holy shit I love this saga so much. I used to time my sick days from school with the trilogy. It would match up perfectly bell to bell if i did it right.

One of my clearest childhood memories was when my dad first introduced me to Star Wars. I was a little kid, and we started with A New Hope one night, and watched the other two on the next two nights. I just remember watching them over and over. Buying fucking legos and shit. My dad used to collect action figures and has hundreds (still in the packaging of course). They'll be mine someday. One time as a teenager we decided to build our own lightsabers. With LEDs, custom designs, little speakers for sound, an awesome button to turn it on, etc. Unfortunately we never finished them. We live a thousand miles away now, but it's totally a life goal to finish them up with the old man and hit up some conventions.

I was OBSESSED with Star Wars as a kid. I watched the movies weekly, had the Action Fleet and Lego's. Most Halloweens and bday parties were SW themed. Much love for the Wars <3

I have the battle of Endor half-sleeve started on my arm. You could say I'm a fan.
I spend about 2 hours explaining to my fiance things about the Star Wars while we were watching A New Hope last night. He's probably the only guy I know who does not really understand Star Wars.
Also, I'm trying to get a Sith costume together for Halloween. I don't think I'll be able to, but here's to hoping.

One of my better nerd-spite moments went like this:
College Professor: Blah blah blah greatest villains ever? Neal: Darth Vader. CP: Who? Neal: From Star Wars? CP: I've never seen any of those movies. Neal: Someone your age never seeing Star Wars... And teaching at an art college? I don't even know how that's possible. That's like never going to a supermarket or a bank. What the hell is wrong with you?
We actually got along pretty well after that.

I did my final speech in my COM101 class on 'Why Star Wars is superior to Star Trek'. It would have been an A, except my speech was 18 minutes instead of 10 so I was docked down to a C I still have the powerpoint for it on my computer.

There's a Star Wars thing they show on the history channel with the raw audio from Darth Vader scenes, and you haven't lived until you've heard angry Scottish Vader.

My Star Wars half-sleeve was complimented today. They said I should add an ewok in there somewhere, though.

that's not the only thing that happens in the Special Editions, man. for example, in Empire, you can no longer see through Luke's speeder cockpit seams due to them fixing that. it just looks better, and is cleaned up. plus, they got rid of that awful "yub yub!" song at the end of Jedi.

I was really disappointed in that one special edition of Return of the Jedi where they edited in Jar Jar near the end. He's kind of distant, but you can vaguely hear him saying "Weesa free!" UGH. I was hoping he would have been dead at that point. Thanks for shattering that dream, George.

also: I may be the only person in the world that kind of likes Jar Jar Binks.
Star Wars Episode 1 came out when I was in high school. I was a spindly geek with funny metal stuff on my teeth. I had a weird voice because I talked out of the side of my mouth. when I saw Phantom Menace, I was like "finally, a Star Wars character I can relate to! he's a gangly loser with a funny voice that nobody likes!"
