I just read both volumes of Persepolis and it was possibly the greatest thing ever, it's a graphic novel about the Islamic Revolution in Iran. Now I'm half reading this book about teenagers in the Bronx but it really sucks. GO.

I've been reading mostly short stories lately.
Oh, but I did also read The Bell Jar for the first time, while driving to a Ween concert.

I never read Persepolis, but I loved the movie. I haven't read since I've been out of school. I'm trying to read Cabal right now and I want to reread The Road before the movie comes out.

The Persepolis movie was amazing. I still need to get the book.
I'm almost done with Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 by Hunter S. Thompson. Probably going to start The Metamorphosis next.

Re-reading A Prayer For Owen Meany at the moment. If I could only read one book for the rest of time it would be that one.

Persepolis is fantastic
Abouyt 150 pages into 100 years of solitude, it could use a little more dialogue and a few more paragraph breaks

Currently reading Kafka's The Trial. My first assignment for my lit class this fall is to read Zora Neale Hurston's Mules and Men, so I'll be on to that next.

I'm reading things for class because I am determined to not suck at everything this semester. So a bunch of stuff on international negotiation, development, environmental ethics, and anthropology. waah.

Against The Day - Thomas Pynchon Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-Smith
I'm just starting Franny And Zooey by J.D. Salinger, which I found in some boxes in the garage. I've never read it before; I didn't even know I had it.

All my reading is school related, and I want to kill myself because of it right now. How the fuck am I supposed to be in the middle of like 9 books at once?

I'm reading The Time Traveler's Wife because a friend loaned it to me. It's OK so far. Just fluff pretty much.

We talked about the Stooges and Iron Maiden. It was AWESOME!

I'm trying like hell to finish P Lane's Red Dog, Red Dog. I'm on a real 'things set in weird places in the 1950's' kick, and this book is just so great. It totally makes me want to write better; it's very sparse and well-wrought in its language, and the atmosphere and characters are just brilliantly realized. It's fantastic.

I just started reading A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews for school. I'm also reading Crime and Punishment on the side, but it's taking me longer than usual. I just have trouble getting into it.

It's so good. I mean, I thought it was. Graham/etoile lent it to me awhile ago, and I just...ate it up. Of course, I have always been kind of obsessed with Mennonites and Amish people, so there that probably accounts for some of the appeal, haha. Miriam Toews is great, though, ferserious.

I've only read the first chapter but it seems kind of hilarious. My teacher's pretty good with picking out books that don't flat out suck, so I'm trusting her with this one.
Edit: To kristin.

I haven't heard of most of the books in this thread (or any of the reading threads on the OMB) and I don't have time to read all of them. My brain just kind of turns to mush and I feel dumb.
