Less than a week away! Not looking forward to watching the Cowboys at all this year, it's gonna be brutal. Not sure how many football fans still post here, but talk expectations, things you're looking forward to, fantasy, etc.

Hooray for mediocrity and probably another 8-8 season! The Cowboys D is going to be even worse this year since they lost Ware and they were already pretty fucking bad to begin with. oh, and Sean Lee is out for the year, that's cool too. I am looking forward to watching the offense though. Terrance Williams had a decent year last year and I think he's going to become a pretty good target for Romo. If Dez doesn't get hurt, I think he's going to have a monster year. Same thing with Demarco, it was so much fun watching him run wild last year. ...I fucking hate Jerry Jones so much.

I honestly am probably going to get reamed in fantasy because I haven't really paid a whole lot of attention, but with a team name like Swallow My Jacquizz... I think I can live with it.

DeMarco isn't going to do shit this year because our new OC is obsessed with the pass. Considering our early schedule, Romo will be lucky to live to see Halloween. We play Houston (i.e. Clowney and Watt) and Seattle back to back. Seriously, he's probably one bad hit away from his career being over. Dez will be brilliant as always, but that's not good enough when Washington and Philly both got even better on offense. The defense will be putrid and, as usual, we'll have to make Romo throw 50 times a game.

I'm pretty stoked on my fantasy team, though:
Matt Stafford Marshawn Lynch Frank Gore Brandon Marshall Percy Harvin Sammy Watkins Anquan Boldin Jordan Cameron Tavon Austin Dwayne Bowe Greg Zuerlein Carolina defense
I took Johnny Manziel as my QB2. I'm pretty convinced he'll be starting by the time Stafford hits his bye week.

I'm on a coin flip if we're gonna be okay. Offense should be good, defense should be a lot better than last year. NFC East is a trainwreck. On the other side, RGIII is a moron, and we have a rookie head coach who I have no idea how I feel about. So....10-6 and division lead, or 4-12 and a tire fire.
I can't wait to do my draft. It's Monday.

The division will come down to either you guys or Philly. Whoever has the better defense, probably. And come on, you're not one of those guys who thinks they should bench RGIII for Cousins, are you?

The Lions had over 100 more rushing attempts than the Cowboys last year, but the Cowboys had to play catch up a lot and that is not great for rushing. I think Demarco will get more involved with the passing game anyways since Linehan does like his screens. I dunno, I'm interested to see what he has to bring to the table, but unless the defense steps it up, it's just going to be another fucking year of shit.

I was going to stay away from the NFL this year, but there's a good chance I'll get suckered back into it like I always do. I'm not too optimistic about the Panthers, though. The offensive line is a mess, Newton's already injured and I have mixed feelings on this new batch of receivers. Kelvin Benjamin looks like a solid player and should help off-set the loss of Smith, but it's a whole lot of practice squad guys after that. The defense should be awesome, but they'll have to win a lot of 9-6 games from the looks of it. I'm just excited for the media to blame Newton for the team's struggles while ignoring that the team around him has gotten worse every season.

Yeah, the fact that he has no receivers is what kept me from drafting him in fantasy.

Hell no. RGIII all the way. I hate the people that whine for Cousins. RG might just miss a game or two for injuries as he has no idea how to avoid a hit or throw a ball away, but he's my back, good or bad. Us winning the division hinges on his learning from last year and I'm just not entirely sure he will, fast at least, based on the preseason/every interview he's ever given this summer.
I think it's us or the Eagles. Our defense should be much better this year, and the offense certainly has the weapons to be damn good, so if that all works out, I think we've got it. But that's a lot to work out when you have a new scheme, and a Quarterback who could be brilliant, but occasionally just forgets he's not at Baylor and tries to get 9 concussions in one play.

I didn't know that NFL Sunday Ticket was only $200 if you want it for your computer. I'm tempted to buy it but the Panthers have a handful of national games and there's a good chance they'll do nothing but frustrate the hell out of me this year and I don't know if I want to spend money on that.

Eagles. The Eagles win the division.
We are a steaming pile of horseshit inside of a goddamn tirefire.

The hell kind of scoring system does your league have?

|
|
Post by dave on Sept 14, 2014 15:38:31 GMT -5
PPR league with 6 pt touchdowns for QBs, WRs and RBs. biggest difference is that we also run bonuses for milestones, rushing and receiving you get 5 pts for 100 yards and 10 points for 200 yards, QBs get 5 pts at 300 yards passing, 10 pts at 400 and 15 pts at 500.
only other major thing we do different is play a defensive player, which I thought I would hate, but this is like our third or fourth year doing it and I have no complaints.
...in other news, JJ Watt just fucking caught a receiving touchdown.

Watched the Panthers game in a bar that's apparently the headquarters for Bills fans. That was awkward.
2-0!

I was very conflicted this week because I have Stafford and the Carolina defense.
I had already given up on this week when I found out Jordan Cameron and Brandon Marshall were out, but I replaced them with Delanie Walker and Sammy Watkins respectively, and they both kicked ass. Everyone else has done jack shit, though.

Stafford played well in the first half. Had TD called back because it hit the ground and it may have been a different game if the Lions didn't miss two field goals. Panthers d-line crushed them in the second half, though.

Ughhhhhh I'm winning 120-98 and I'll probably still lose because my opponent still has Andrew Luck and Reggie Wayne tomorrow night. I'm so pissed because everyone was saying Brandon Marshall wouldn't play tonight so I had to bench him early this afternoon (I didn't have any bench players that were playing tonight or tomorrow) and then he fucking did and already has a TD.

Football is the only reason I miss having cable. I'm trying to watch a really shitty European stream of the Ravens/Browns game and it's just frustrating.
Also what with the Ray Rice thing, I'm reticent to even care about the Ravens or the NFL in general.

Our special teams are fucking awful. We would have beat the goddamn Eagles if only we could STOP A KICKOFF RETURN or make a stupid ass field goal. Ugh. Cousins playing that well (He still missed a ton of basic bitch shit, that ugh please stopppppp) means that sports radio will be a flurry of THIS IS COUSIN'S TEAM FUCK RGIII HE'S DEAD TO ME ~INSERT RACIST THING HERE~ ~FOLLOWED WITH I DON"T HATE HIM BECAUSE HE'S BLACK I HATE HIM BECAUSE LOOK AT WHAT COUSINS DID!~ I really want a new owner, and new fans. I just can't quit this team. I am doing my damndest to never say their name again, and I won't pay a cent on new shit or tickets for them. I just, yeah. I love the team.

This whole Greg Hardy shit bothers me. He was found guilty of domestic abuse over the off-season and didn't receive any punishment because North Carolina state law automatically gives convicts the right to a jury trial. It kind of slipped under the radar until this Ray Rice fiasco happened and THEN the Panthers decide to take action by deactivating him (nevermind that he's still getting paid and basically asked for the team to do it because he didn't want to be a distraction). I get the legal process and that there's a chance that he could be innocent, but I hate the way the team has handled this, especially after Jerry Richardson had that emotional press conference about domestic abuse victims. It's a goddamn joke that Hardy was allowed to play in Week 1 and the only reason they aren't taking more heat for it is because the Ravens & Vikings somehow managed to handle their situations worse.

First time a team I've experienced a tie game....honestly it felt like a loss because of how the Panthers managed that last drive. 3rd and 6 and they run a five-yard passing play and then kick the field goal to give the Bengals the ball back. Pretty much a no-win situation, barring a miracle.

Aye. Driving back from hockey the sports radio was mocking that. Sorry, dude.
Nick, I remember you saying you were quitting the cowboys? Still done? Said radio station was piling on that they might be the best team in the NFC right now.

I also was at a good friends house for a nerd fest today, and he has Red Zone which I haven't seen in ages, and I forgot how awesome the host is. He's just so excited about football.
"I'd love to take you to a redzone but, uh, yeah. [sounds super dejected] no one is in it right now." "[super excited] ANNNNNNNNNND WE'RE GONNA GO DUAL SCREEN ON THIS ONE, Wait. No. There's the commercial music. Bummer."

That Percy Harvin trade screwed me over. Now instead of one bye week, he gets three: the one he already had with Seattle, a de facto one this week since the trade happened after the Jets had already played, and another one Week 11 with the Jets.
