So, I put the shuffle wuffle on and "Colouring Of Pigeons" written by The Knife, Mt. Sims, and Planningtorock for the Copenhagen-based Hotel Pro Forma's opera Tomorrow, In A Year about the life of Charles Darwin came on and I thought about this question. It is relatively recent and, as I recall, it recieved a positive review on Pitchfork, but it's fuckin' weird. I expect the recitives of just about any opera to be weird, but even the arias here are awkward. It could be because it's in English and I'm not very familiar with English-language opera. I remember trying to preorder it at Border's (RIP; also wut.) and the dude there kept asking overly excited questions about it. "It's an opera?!" "Yes," I replied. "No way! Is it electronic like The Knife's usual work or orchesrtal like typical opera?!" I said, "both." He said, "woah!" I think I actually ended up buying it from Amoeba. Whoop. I am so lonely that I would hang out with that guy right now. Whoop.
So, anyway, what is the weirdest thing on record you own, in your opinion?

Whoa, Mount Sims. That shit reminds me of being 14. Ummm. Maybe a record called "Swedish Dance Party?" I also have a bunch of weird traditional Russian & Georgian LPs that I went through a phase of buying. I have a Paul McCartney record from the USSR...

Either Rektum's God Sold Me Bad Acid or The Day The Machines Took Over comp. Both were impulse buys that I like more than I probably should.

good call on that Crash Love. Gonna have to check out Green Jello and Rektum.
re: Swedish Dance Party. What does that sound like? Is it like Swedish folk music, or is it Ace Of Base and ABBA and just the cover art is incredibly misleading? It reminds me of another record I own: Södra Bergens Balalaikor's s/t. A bunch of Swedish hippies in the 70s playing Russian folk music. Maybe the weirdest thing about it is that it wasn't a blind buy. I downloaded it on a blag somewhere, and when I saw it at Amoeba some months later I decided I had to own it.

Green Jello is intentionally one of the worst bands ever. Their big hit was a butt metal song version of 3 Little Pigs.

Their first "record" was pretty revolutionary for its time. It was a video only album where each song had its own music video, perfect for early 90s MTV and home sales. The album that came out was dubbed the "soundtrack" on cd and cassette.
The 2nd record was a lazy mess that sounded like it was thrown together to cash off their fading success
