It may be all the hash I've been smoking the past few days, but I really dig this new Mac DeMarco album. I also enjoy that everyone in the band looks equal parts lobotomized and cast in a tv adaptation of Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

I don't think I've posted about it, but I'm really starting to dig the new Fireworks album, Oh, Common Life. I really was a fan of the sound they hit on Gospel and they seem to be progressing along that now really nicely. Gonna have to dig in a bit further on this, but what I've heard is great. I don't know what I love about the lead singer's voice so much, but goddamn I really enjoy listening to him sing.

Stoked! For the ADHD in all of us: ironreagan.bandcamp.com/Also, has anyone heard Teeth Dreams yet? I'm refraining from looking for a download, but I keep hearing good things.

new Iron Reagan is great news.
Teeth Dreams is really good. I haven't really got to give it a real in-depth listen without interruptions, but I really like it.

I compared it to Pink Eyes singing for Latterman basically. First track may be the best pop-punk song I've heard this year.

for real, if you haven't listened to (Cocaine) Pinata and you're a hip-hop/rap fan, rectify that shit immediately. I get more and more into this album every time i listen. Gibbs is definitely a real G, but goddamn can he flow. Madlib also does not disappoint with a single beat on this album either. pretty sure it's my AOTY so far.

Based on what I'd heard, I thought Mac DeMarco was going to be the kind of lo-fi, tuneless indie bullshit that I hate, but this is just what the doctor ordered right now. It's so nice and sunny and laid back.

The new Seahaven is really, really good. I'm going to try and see them when they come back through Toronto in a couple months. I gave this a good listen finally last night and I don't think I like it as much as Winter Forever, but goddamn there are some excellent songs on there. Andreas is definitely a contender for the best Seahaven song imo.

Are post/noise punk the new buzz words for this year? Is this Pitchfork weilding their ungodly influence?

I've been listening to noise punk stuff for like a few years. The new buzzwords are/have been "emo revival".

I'm not complaining. Got me back into emo and I've been discovering a ton of rad stuff the past year. Plus, Pitchfork isn't that bad (although they've been tabloid-y as of late). I dig Ian Cohen and Brandon Stosuy's reviews.

I really don't mind Pitchfork anymore. Their reviews are generally pretty good, I think it's just the x/10 scale that really bothers me. They don't really show what they think the weak points are that dropped the album's score. Menzingers - Rented World is streaming if you're like me and forgot that it leaked haha. www.spin.com/articles/the-menzingers-rented-world-album-stream/I finally figured out what the beginning of In Remission reminds me of, the guitar tone sounds remarkably similar to the opening song off of the Two Tongues album (Chris Conley from Saves the Day and Max Bemis from Say Anything). at least it sounds similar to me, I guess.

Pretty cool that Deathwish is updating their bandcamp with new releases. Going to give the new Wovenhand a good listen tonight.
The nice weather has me listening to a ton of Cheap Girls and I couldn't be more stoked for the new one.

currently chair moshing at work to that new Bane... only like halfway through, but I'm super into this, it's exactly what I wanted from Bane. also, since Bane is mentioned, I don't know if anyone has heard this, but they covered Bjork when they were doing those EPs and it fucking ruleswww.youtube.com/watch?v=KaXGw01wJkA

Man, Famous Graves really is top notch. Best thing this year. I think I like it more than Giant Orange and that's kind of a big deal.
Tried to hate on that weak ass new Menzingers album, but it's actually really solid. Not sold on the second half yet, but the first 6 or so songs make up for anything after that.

Did you listen to the stream? It's pretty good. Doesn't flow as well as their debut but songs are really good.
New Trash Talk came out today too so I'm stoked about that. Also, the new Only Crime album fucking rules.

I found it the other day, haha. It's good! Also, the new Fucked Up is AWESOME. There's a stream of the new Bob Mould up as well, still need to check that out. One of my most anticipated albums of the year.

Speaking of anticipated records, the new Eyehategod leaked last night and I can't wait to hear it. The new Agalloch also came out a few days ago and it's very, very good. It's not too different from their last record, though.

I think the MI shtick died for me. It's probably cliche, but their demo/First Offense EP were killer and they've been on the decline since. I think I'd probably dig them a lot more live with like 10 beers in me, but the new album did nothing. I only gave the new Fucked Up a quick listen but it was pretty good. Nothing particularly stood out, but I dug the overall sound and Damien's weird, abrasive melodies make things interesting. Still need to give that Larry Arms record a good listen, not to mention Teeth Dreams although what I heard of the latter was not encouraging. BUT, check out these Toronto homies, the Dirty Nil. They've been making the rounds in southern Ontario for a couple years now and are getting some much deserved attention. Upbeat jams, electric live show, and some serious vocal chops. Their new EP's pretty rad. thedirtynil.bandcamp.com/album/smite
