Is anybody else watching?
I wasn't sure about the dude they picked for Junior but he seems to be playing crazy pretty well. Big Jim isn't very big though.

I've only watched the preview but yeah Dean Norris isn't as evil looking as Big Jim needs to be. I was thinking about Casey Novak's boss while I was reading the book as Big Jim. I heard they changed a ton of stuff

They changed a lot, and I wish they hadn't because I thought the book read like a really long tv script you know? Like it had perfect dramatic places where an episode could end and stuff. But I understand that tv adaptations are always messed with sooooooooooo I'm just gonna have to think of this as loosely based on the book haha.

Ugh yeah I went in expecting some changes but they changed so much. And a lot of it seemed unnecessary.
Also have they never seen the inside of a cow? That is not what that would look like at all. They almost made it look like one solid steak hahahah.
Okay I'll say that Big Jim did a pretty good job playing a good guy and bringing out his bad side so far but it was still a weird casting choice. Did you guys picture the newspaper editor being a little older than that girl? I like her though.
I'm complaining a lot but I did like it! Just isn't as true to the story as I was hoping.

haha my sister commented about the cow saying "where are the organs? ?" and yeah I definitely pictured Julia Shumway so much older! Like mid 50's atleast! andddddd ok what are they doing with Barbie? he killed a guy (i think) and buried him in the freakin woods!

It's hard to believe they made him do something worse but yeah this is horrible.
But yeah seriously what the hell are they doing with Barbie / Julia / her husband? At first I assumed that dude was Junior because that made way more sense than Barbie but okay.

I did too! Kasper kept saying like "but he's old/is he wearing dog tags?/HE IS OLD" and i was like NO BARBIE NEVER KILLED ANYONE. And also we can't stand that they can't hear through the dome.

ALSO, did you guys have the deja vu thing where sometimes it would repeat a few seconds? We were thinking maybe it's just a glitch since we watched it on a computer but it was s o annoying.

I don't remember any deja vu thing so maybe it was a glitchy stream or something?
It's been a while.. could they hear really well through the dome, like how it sounds if somebody's just talking to you through glass?

I think they could hear through the dome, and like they could knock on it and people outside would hear that.
Yeah, I thought that he was Junior, too because murder.
And I don't like that they made Norrie someone not from Chester's Mill :/ Idk, I don't think they needed to change so much that they did, but whatever. Also I thought her blonde mom was another teenager at first because of her hipster glasses.

So did I! I was like dang who is that hottie, and also her other mom is the lady from that episode of SVU where they think the little trans girl attacked her dad but actually it was that lady/her counselor

I love that lady, she shows up in stuff all the time (STAR TREK) and I'm always pumped hahahah. It's a shame Junior is so damn hot cause the whole time I am horrified watching him be his awful self and it's going to be so bad when he becomes a cop.
Also Duke's house burning down and the propane tank exploding and the smoke settling up top, talk about foreshadowing hahhaha. Oh and okay it seems like.. Phil, is that the radio guy's name? It seems like he isn't anything like the character in the book. He was always by himself and always high and unwashed and gross and didn't he only eat grilled cheese or toast or something? Tv Phil seems so.. not any of that. I'm kinda hoping he isn't involved with the bad stuff, maybe they rewrote him to be a good guy or something. Except I just read a character description and it mentions he has a dark secret so maybe not.

I watched the first episode of this having never read the book and: 1. I loved that someone hollowed out that cow and filled it with blood. 2. Did those two kids learn about sex from only seeing still photos of it? Is that why they weren't moving? 3. The pilot from Lost's heart exploded! Whoa!

Did anything that happened in this episode actually happen in the book? hahah. It's fun to watch but it's so different sometimes.

TV Phil is hot but yeah seems too normal. Where is Piper? And Brenda? And we're pretty sure they're just not going to have Sammy at all which is a shame because against all odds I liked her story line.

Is this still on? I'm kinda waiting for it to go to Netflix. I passed the first airing because I recently watched the piece of shit Bag of Bones and remembered how terrible most King adaptations are.
Also, I've been trying to read the book since it came out and still haven't finished it.

It's a little under halfway done. It could not have much less to do with the book hahahah. I'm beginning to think Phil has nothing to do with the meth? I'd be okay with that change, I want a hot not bad guy to root for hahaha.

Can this just be a Stephen King thread? I just started reading Salem's Lot. I've only read through 2 chapters so far and I love it. Only other King books I've read are The Shining and The Gunslinger.

I've read Under the Dome, Duma Key, Cell, The Mist and Dreamcatcher. I really liked all of them and right now I'm starting on Everything's Eventual, which is a bunch of short stories.
I think I want to read Misery next.

I've read a LOT of Stephen King but a lot of it was as a teenager so I've forgotten several of them which is frustrating.
Duma Key was so good buy it freaked me out real bad so I hurried and finished it hahaha. I've never read Salem's Lot but it's been on my list forever. The Eyes of the Dragon was the first of his I ever read, I remember really loving it. Misery is really good Alana! Would definitely recommend it. The Girl Who Loved Tim Gordon is another favorite.

So I guess The Stand is considered his best?

It always comes up, yeah. I liked it a lot.
Alana I started Cell but for some reason got stuck and couldn't budge past a certain spot. I need to give it another try.
Oh oh! The last of his I read was the one with the title that is just a date, I can never remember it exactly, but I'd definitely recommend it. It's about the JFK assassination / time travel, super interesting and I want more people to talk about it with.

Has anybody read The Green Mile? So good, and it's one that they did a really good job making into a movie,I thought.

Katie, those were the last two King books I got. 11/22/63 is looking really intimidating. Been wanting the read the Green Mile. Never seen the movie. I'll get to them at some point, haha.

I read it on my dad's Kindle so I have never actually seen it but reading it felt like it was a thick one hahaha. I really liked it though.
Definitely read The Green Mile, especially before you watch the movie. Being broken up into so many little books made reading it fly by.

I didn't want to get the separate volumes, so I have just one big book for it. 11/22/63 is like 900 pages that are nearly 8 x 11.
