I know everyone is all up on Skyrim at the moment but I just started Morrowind and it's amazing. At first I made a really rubbish character, but I started again and I'm doing a lot better this time - the NPCs actually like me and I can fight pretty well. I'm a Redguard. I just can't work out which guild to join or whether I should just join all of them or what. Also I have the Elder Scrolls wiki open the entire time which I'm sure is cheating but whatevs, I just want the loot.
DISCUSS: Skyrim and all previous Elder Scrolls games, and what your favourite kind of character/game style is!

Just a heads up, you can't join all of the guilds in one playthrough. Some of them are opposing factions, and the game only lets you join one.
I've always been a sword/shield warrior kind of guy in these games, but I've been having a lot of fun with the stealth in Skyrim.

I really want to try out Morrowind. Haven't gotten it yet, but eventually.
Played Skyrim quite a bit lately, until I got a trojan on my laptop, so now I have to download it all over again, and start over.
In both Oblivion and Skyrim I've played the stealthy archer. I'm always a stealth character in every game I play that allows for it. Not sure why I'm so drawn to it, but it's usually fun. Maybe because I'm fairly non-confrontational, so I avoid fights (unless I have a very strict advantage).

Skyrim is solid. For some reason Morrowind and Oblivion never gripped me which is sad. I think they took the best parts of what they learned from the new Fallout games (which I love) and implemented them into Skyrim.

I love how open-ended skyrim is. I've only done like a few of the main quest missions and just run all over the place and do quests as they show up and it's so fun.
Loved the dark brotherhood line, working on thieves guild now. My character.is kind of an evil dick haha

Stealthy with a sword. But I always get in trouble because I love to kill all the people so instead of sneaking past I use it to backstab and then I usually alert anyone else nearby. Also I usually travel with the husband and his stealth is useless so I use him as a decoy half the time.
So fun.

I'm still bummed Ben had to reformat his laptop. My character was stealthy archer, although I was starting to use one and two handed weapons. I just finished the Dark Brotherhood, Companions, and Thieves Guild questlines too! And I was about to get the Elder Scroll! And I had four houses! Haha.
Ben did just re-download Oblivion, so I might start playing that.

I've joined the Mages' and Fighters' guilds, mainly for the free stuff, but yeah there are certain rival groups that I can't join. I kind of wish I was an archer, but I stole a pretty rad long sword using sneaky guard tactics, so I'm pretty overpowered for my level at the moment. I think I need to use potions more regularly, it's kind of hard to get used to all the different game mechanics. It's fun though!

I dabble in archery but it's just so useless when you're in a dungeon. I love that it actually takes skill to be any good at it in Skyrim but then it's also super frustrating haha.

I'm a heavily armored mage-knight(in both skyrim and oblivion). My character is as stealthy as a bulldozer.

Loved Morrowind. Loved Oblivion even more (mainly because you get a horse). I have yet to play Skyrim I'm always one to play stealth/rogue characters. I don't much care for mage/magic work for some reason. Not even in Dragon Age or the equivalent to mages in Mass Effect (biotics).

That sort of reminds me, I've managed to lose my horse in Skyrim. I bought it early in the game, left it somewhere and now cannot find it anywhere. Maybe it wandered off and was killed but I suspect as soon as I buy a new one the old one will turn up.

That's weird, they're supposed to fast travel with you.
Do the Dark Brotherhood questline and get Shadowmere. He makes you feel like a Nazgul.

I'm going to immediately start the questline.

Once I had Shadowmere and the Nightingale Armour (Thieves Guild) I pretty much spent half an hour just riding around the country and hissing.
I regret nothing.

I just killed a dragon and absorbed its soul. Then went to learn the shout and when I opened my shout menu it said I needed a dragon soul. Has this happened to anyone before? Was I supposed to try and learn the shout first?
GOD DAMMIT. Why am I so terrible at this game!? Started the Thieves Guild and I can't even find the fucking beehives to burn.

That confused me at first too. There's a button to spend a soul. On Xbox I think it's the yellow button, not sure about PC or PS3.
The beeehives are up the other end of the island chain, which is in the middle of the lake next to Riften. Are you tracking your quests as you go? The compass leads you to the quest locations.

I try to! This quest compass is sending be to the back door of the mansion instead of the hives. I feel pretty slick in the thieves armor though, haha

Oh, that's weird. Just follow the bridges over to the other little islands or swim around. They're not too far away

After giving up and restarting a bit later it showed up on the map and all was good. My game is too glitchy sometimes. Like, water disappears and it looks like the rivers or lakes are dry in some sections and other weird shit like that.

With the mission marker thing, make sure when you open up your list of quests that only one mission is selected. If you have multiple active it's confusing as fuck.
This game. I bought that house in Solitude and I replaced lydia (she died I guess? one day she just stopped following me and I don't know where she went hahaha) with an argonian named Derkeethus. He's the bomb.
Oh, a trick when buying houses/furniture: stand close enough to a cabinet or dresser or something that you can reach it without moving, then from there talk to the steward or whatever and tell him what you want, then x out of the conversation right as he says "ok I'll do that yo" or whatever and quickly click on the dresser and put all of your money in it. Then he can't take your money and you get that shit for free! Repeat as desired. Love it.

Has anyone done the Mage's Guild/College in skyrim? SO FUCKING EPIC.
Also, the ending of the main story line is awesome.

I just started the Mages guild! Can never stick to one story for too long, but I think I'll like this one and finish up the Dark Brotherhood after.

I'm in the first mages college dungeon at the mo. I'm not super psyched on it yet. And I'm up to the bit where I have to ride my captured dragon to Valhalla or whatever it is in the main storyline but I think I should level up a bit first.

Not gonna lie, the new HD texture package is barely noticeable. I have a few mods that improve them much more.

Yeah I got it, haven't had time to play. I heard that it improves literally everything texturewise which is awesome.
