Been getting into the new TV on the Radio a lot more the past few days. It's super good. Also realized Das Racist comes out next week so I'm excited for that.

Looking forward to Slices, Santigold, Ladytron, St. Vincent, Condominium, Spank Rock, Zola Jesus, M83, Tom Waits, all of which are coming out very soon and have probably already leaked if they have not actually come out already. I can't pay attention to everything.
I've been having a great year (great year!) for music, but after milling through my "what I think is awesome this year" list, I've realized that most of it is not a product of '11. Here's what ar favaorites I reallu liked:
Gang Gang Dance - Eye Contact The Men - Leave Home Grails - Deep Politics Probably the Hysterics 7", if it's the same as the demo. Probably anyway even if it's not. I still need to order that. Big Business - Quadruple Single Iceage - New Brigade and Chelsea Wolfe - Apokalypsis or whatever it's called. I've actually been listening to this since last November but it's finally gotten a legitimate release now or sometime in the near future.
Almost everything else I've heard has a few good choons, but I'm not frothing at the mouth excited about.

I'm not sure, but I think the Radiohead may have been the only new release I've heard thus far. I like it, but it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be.
I did download the new Copyrights...I haven't really listened to it. And I have heard the new House Boat. But I haven't REALLY listened to it extensively yet. Lotta people are into it. I can't imagine I wouldn't like it.

Mister Heavenly -- Out of Love is probably my favorite album this year. Followed closely by Bright Eyes, then Bon Iver, The Kills, Man Man, and Fucked Up are all tied somewhere beneath that.
Jay-Z and Kanye is a toss up-- the tracks I love, I love, and the tracks I hate, I hate. meh.

There's been a lot of good stuff this year, but the Horrible Crowes album is as good, if not better, than I expected and I listened to the new Frank Turner earlier today and thought it was pretty fantastic as well.

Haven't really been able to buy anything, but Des Ark's new album is topping my list right now. Finally got around to writing a review for it. Then Bright Eyes, Thursday, and The Pauses. Still have a few to listen to. I really did enjoy that House Boat album, so that may be in my top 5. Still haven't heard all of Fucked Up though. Don't think I necessarily have any disappointments.

off the top of my head:
Faves: John Maus - We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves Grouper - A | A / Alien Observer Generifus - I Don't Have to Worry Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972 HPP - 7" Outlook - Vision EP (on tape) Broken Water - Peripheral Star Crude Thought - demo Group Doueh - Beatte Harab Tinariwen - Tassili (but seriously why does one of the greatest groups in the world need to enlist members of WILCO and TV ON THE GODDAMN RADIO...for "western cred" or something? fuck) Toro Y Moi - Underneath the Pine Gun Outfit - High Places Karl Blau - MAX 12" Metal Mountains - Golden Trees
extraneous two cents, since i end up listening to all this shit at my job as it comes in every week:
Shabazz Palaces "Black Up" was also decent...Iceage is neat...wanted to like Tune-Yards but it started to drive me a little crazy after a while...thought Wild Flag was a little disappointing, sounds too Top 40 for me, but the video of them knocking over an Arcade Fire album in Jackpot Records was funny...I expected something less boring from GIRLS considering how much hype their new record got...St. Vincent bugs the shit out of me...the new single by Glen Campbell off his "I'm getting Alzheimer's" album, "Ghost on the Canvas," penned by Paul Westerberg, is terrible but will get stuck in your head for days (lyric sample: "ring around the rosary/pocket full of prose you read"...i mean SERIOUSLY?!), everyone is flipping a shit over Gillian Welch but she doesn't seem as great as everyone thinks she is...Jay-Z and Kanye are at least TRYING to advance the hip hop genre and I think they've had some hits and misses...Blitzen Trapper is fucking godawful, I might as well be listening to Kid Rock...and I thought the new Radiohead was pretty cool.
