So, I know we're all hyped for The Dark Knight Rises, but is anyone else as pumped for The Avengers as me? I've been excited ever since I saw the post-credit scene in Iron Man. The cartoon is so good! Probably the best superhero cartoon since Batman: TAS. It makes me like the characters a lot more too. I didn't care for Hawkeye before it, but now he's one of the aspects of The Avengers I'm so excited about. I really hope they pull this off. Cap's new costume looks awesome: Somehow, Chris Hemsworth got even bigger: We can talk about other Marvel Studios films as well. I think I'd rank my favs: Iron Man > Cap Am > Thor > Incredible Hulk > IM 2

I have mixed feelings. I know fuck-all about the Avengers universe, but I've enjoyed all of the movies up to this point (well, I don't really care for the Hulk). I just think it's going to lead to superhero fatigue. Even though the movies have been good so far, they run together after a while. That, and I can't really bring myself to care about any of the villains. The Batman films have been so good because they have a rich rogues gallery to draw from, and Marvel just doesn't have that many compelling bad guys IMO. The only one so far that I've really liked was Loki, and that's because (in the first movie anyways) he's not really all that bad, and has a lot of nuance.
Bottom line: I think the Avengers movie will be enjoyable, but I get the feeling this franchise is going to run out of steam.

Watch the cartoon, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. It'll have you coming around to the characters and villains. I didn't give much of a hoot about any of them before that cartoon.
PS: Spider-Man and X-Men have a great list of antagonists. Just saying. I don't think you can really compare them to Batman's villains though. They're much more rooted in psychosis or realism. Whereas Marvel's villains are more sci-fi/fantasy oriented.

My anticipation for the Marvel super-hero movies has mostly been diluted. Every time they come out I get slightly pumped, but I'm just not thrilled overall like I was a decade ago.
Doesn't mean I don't wanna see this, though. I'm hoping they figure out an awesome way to bring the cast together. Recasting Lou Ferrigno is a hilarious and possibly awesome idea that I hope works out. Since Tom Hiddleston's been recast as Loki, is the theory on this movie's storyline centered around the spoiler at Thor's end? I haven't seen rumors floating around yet.
Of the films in the last decade or so of Marvel, I still haven't seen any of the Blade movies, Spiderman 3 (mostly disliked 1 and 2), the Eric Bana version of Hulk, Elektra, Punisher: War Zone, X-Men: First Class, and Captain America. I want to see those last two and the Blade movies, but I hear the rest in there are chaff.
Iron Man is definitely the best of the movies for me. Thor was rather good, X-Men was alright, Wolverine was meh, Ghost Rider was meh, Daredevil was meh... and I'm just gonna stop myself. I haven't been overly impressed with the franchise as a whole. I am curious to see how Reynolds does with Dead Pool after Green Lantern being only sorta an okay film.
Still demanding a Dr. Strange film.

I'm not sure how I feel about Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Haha.
Other than that, I think the movie should be decent. It's not like any of these movies have been that good to ruin their legacies or anything.

I read an interview where he was like "Yeah, I'm really good friends with Edward Norton and his deal fell through, but I took the job. Did I mention we're really good friends?" basically.
Super awkward just to read.
Not that Norton was the best guy to play in this franchise, but I just can't imagine Ruffalo being anything but this nice guy. Maybe that's the point. But I think the point of the The Hulk was that this nerdy dude had the rage built up inside of him and The Hulk was just an enhancement. Norton could pull that off. I mean, he was basically already The Hulk in Fight Club if you go by that interpretation. And Ferrigno is doing the voiceover so that's kinda weird.
But whatever.

Trailer was satisfying. Slowly starting to look forward to this. I probably need to get around to watching Thor and Captain America at some point.

Yeah, I've just stopped getting excited about these films. I still haven't seen Captain America, Iron Man 2 or the latest Hulk.
But I will probably make a point of seeing this because Joss Whedon and Chris Hemsworth with long hair and cheek.

I've still not seen Captain America, I would like to. But the Hulk movies.. I don't know I have seen most of both of them, I think? But mostly out of order and at little bits at a time but I just don't care, hahhaha.

I.. know? hahahha. When did I say they were?
OH are you talking about the out of order thing? I meant the movie themselves. Like I would walk into the room with somebody watching it so I caught the end, and then a while later I caught pieces of the middle or something. I have seen scraps of both of them but in no order at all.

Oh ok. That and it was also my way of saying, "you don't need to see the first one. Just The Incredible Hulk because the Ang Lee Hulk isn't involved with The Avengers universe."

I've always struggled with the Hulk. How come his shirts always burst at the seams but his jeans just turn into cutoffs when his thighs at least triple in size? Is he a nevernude?
That and I just never liked the comics. The Ang Lee film had a few pretty awesome moments though. The canyon scene was pretty sweet. And I really liked Eric Bana as Bruce.

I haven't read any since the early-mid nineties, and I didn't really take notice of who the writers/artists were. So I'm assuming not?
