Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Kevin Bacon, and Nathan Fillion? I'm sold. I feel like Kick-Ass already perfected the violent, subversive, "realistic" superhero thing, but this looks awesome. Rainn's been talking it up on Twitter for quite a while, but this is the first I've seen of it. Comes out April 1st, but it looks like a limited release for a while. Hopefully it makes its way up here. Trailer: movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810167552/video/24413102

Yeah, I'm totally keen to see this. I also can't help but love Ellen Page in everything ever.
I really enjoyed Kick-Ass, but I don't really agree at how well they stuck to the 'realistic' angle. That part got really lost for me in the third act. Rad film otherwise, though.

Ha, that's why I put it in quotes.

I was skeptical at first, but I'd see that

I wonder if it was awkward for Wilson to be working with his co-workers ex-husband.
This does look pretty good, though.

My friend went to a preview screening in Seattle (and sat right in front of Rainn Wilson!) and said it was good, but "flies off the rails towards the end."

I broke down and downloaded it illegally, because I would never see it in a theater(fuck you for not having an indie theater, Fairbanks) and I had mixed feelings. It was interesting, to say the least. It definitely does not compare to Kick-Ass, that's for sure. It's much more dark and disturbing, though the violence isn't that much more extreme. Of course, I was really drunk when I watched it, but still. If you only really know Ellen Page from Inception and Juno, you're going to be VERY surprised. She plays a completely unhinged and psychotic character, and I kind of liked it, up until the point where She rapes Rainn Wilson's character Then it got...really fucked up. In fact, that's how I would describe the movie as a whole. There are definitely some funny parts, but it's quite disconcerting as a whole. I liked the ending, though.

Yeah holy shit was this movie uncomfortable. It was definitely way realistic in like the worst way haha. Like that's what would happen if someone really tried to be a superhero and it's scary.
And yes to the spoiler tag nick WHAT THE FUCK. I was so upset haha. ELLEN NOOOOOOOOOO.
there was some good humor in it and yeah the ending was cute but wtf wtf wtf

I'm kinda just always interested in anything that has Nathan Fillion in it.

Yeah, he's barely in it, but he's awesome. Also, can we talk about great Kevin Bacon was? His first scene with Rainn Wilson is so funny.
I find it amusing that James Gunn's first movie after getting divorced from Jenna FIscher is a violent revenge fantasy about a guy trying to get his wife back. Hahaha.

It didn't, really. They never got a distributor, so it's only playing in arthouses. If you belong to one of the major cable companies like Time Warner or Cox, they have it on VOD.
BTW, if you're thinking of seeing this, DO NOT read Roger Ebert's review. He gives away the fucking ending in like the first paragraph.

I live close enough to LA that I should have found it somewhere. Oh well. On Demand it is.

I decided to watch this because of my undying love for Nathan Fillion.
I hope that someday I can forget almost every part of this movie that Nathan Fillion wasn't in. I don't think I've ever been more uncomfortable in my life. Even though there were a few legitimately funny moments, and I ultimately did enjoy the ending.
